Car hired from: Melbourne - Wilson Parking - Little Collins Street
Cons
- Had to wait an hour for car pickup - it was scheduled for 8:30am and we didn't get the keys until 9:30am
- Only 2 terminals / service staff and a tiny waiting room space that just isn't big enough - especially when people have luggage. Another terminal and bigger office is needed. By the time we got our hire car there was a queue of 8 groups of people waiting outside!
- After waiting an hour the car wasn't even clean. There was only 1 guy there cleaning both the i...Read more

Rip Off Car Rental and dodgy customer service
I lost my car keys so I rang them and lady told me that it will cost me $700. I really got surprised because it was Small Hyundai Accent. Anyway Next morning I asked them to give me a duplicate keys so that I can drive back to rental location. Now they asked me to deposit $1100 First then they will send the keys to me. I was only 20 kms away from the rental car office. Finally I reached to rental location to drop off the car. Firstly customer service lady told me I didn't take Full Liability Insurance so I have to pay for the lost keys, plus I...Read more
have to pay car rent until they get the new keys. I rang Hyundai Dealership to get Quote and they told me it will cost me $ 561, moreover it will take only 1 to 2 hour only to replace the keys. when I spoke to the manager he told me I have to pay one day rental only, plus whatever the Hyundai will charge for replacing the keys and also told me Full liabailty Insurance doesn't cover lost keys. Now I have to wait 4 to 8 weeks for final invoice for lost key bill.1 comment

Horrible. Still waiting for my $1000
I booked a car for two days at Brisbane Airport, because I live in Brisbane and was not arriving by plane I was told I had to pay a $1000 deposit.
I have never experienced such a high deposit considering I have a open license and over 30, but fair enough.
Picking up and dropping off the car was not a problem.
The problem started 3 weeks after I had dropped off the car and was told everything was fine and they would process my deposit back to me that evening.
I called on a Friday to ask why the $1000 had not been paid back. The first per...Read more

Terrible experience.
Made a booking online, for a pick up at 10.00AM on the 27th November 2017. Arrived at 9.55 AM. During the wait I heard the contents of the transactions and problems of the staff and three customers in front of me. It seemed that some transactions were done based on favors and ad hoc. The credit card payment was down. When it came to my turn, provided my details to the staff. Her reaction was, “there is no car for you”. Nonetheless, she called up the person she called, and said I need 2 instead of one now. I believed she was pulling a vehicle fr...Read more
om another car hire location. Papers signed at 10.23AM. Then she told me the car was half full of fuel. Waited in the car park for 30 mins. During this time, the man responsible for bringing the car over, was washing the car for the customer in front of me. Upon finishing, he reversed the 7 seater out of the lot, actually banging the right side mirror into a column. He got down, checked the mirror, and told another staff. Cracked right blinker light. Still, the customers drove the car away. My car arrived, dirty. Proceeded to be vacuumed and washed by the same man. Another staff brought 3 Chinese female customers out, assured them that “I’ll rent you this car instead of that one, that one is really dirty, this one clean.” the car he was pointing to was the one that was being washed, the one I was about to have. Car was washed, dripping wet, keys were handed over to me. Got in, it was dirty, carpets full of dust and crumbs. Seatbelt on the passenger side was stained with mud or perhaps chocolate. Car smelled dank. Already behind time, and looking at the state of the place and how the staff functioned and handled customers. I had to bite the bullet and go. The car did however, serve me well. But the company greatly disappointed me. Upon returning the car, there was no procedure or checking of the car, a staff just took my keys and said I could go. Even though there were no damages caused by me (checked before I left). But without a confirmation from her, aren’t I possibly liable for any damages dealt to the car after I have left? I hope and pray there are no extra charges. This was my first time trying Alamo, as Hertz was a good experience in Melbourne, I sort of expected the same. This was an extremely disappointing experience. The whole basis of renting a car is for a day out with my loved ones. I believe each renting transaction should be respected, overbooking your cars will only result in a decline in the experience of individual transactions. Let your staff have the possibility to wash, clean and prepare the cars without any rush. Not only do you ruin your customer’s days, you ruin your staff’s ones as well. I will not recommend this experience to anyone. Would you, Redspot Car Rentals?1 comment

Took my bond for no reason and they won't admit they did..even though I have evidence!!!
To all those who might wish to hire a rental vehicle from Red Spot Rental or National Car Hire Melbourne Airport, I do not recommend them for following reasons:
I booked a vehicle online by looking at vehicle pics, specification, and boot space, by the time I got the vehicle it was changed from 5 door to 3 door for the same price because somehow the vehicle I booked was available then but not at pick up time.
I paid for full fuel and returned the vehicle with half tank, yet I was charged for fuel. After couple of email and phone calls...Read more
the fuel charge was credited back into my account. I paid for a GPS and was given one but I had to ask for a replacement because the one I was given was missing the rubber piece that sticks to the windscreen. As usual there is pre-authorisation of bond for car rentals, but my bond was charged and taken out of my account. Despite all my effort in proving that bond was deducted from my account, Red spot maintains that bond was not deducted, even after I have provided bank statements certified by the Bank where Bank staff confirmed that bond was charged and deducted instead of being frozen.1 comment

Worst ever
I was driving without causing any damage to the car when I was hiring, then they claimed some damage and sent me some unclear pictures which I can't date it at all. They agreed to send me some HD pictures so I can make sure it is new damage, but they didn't send but just bills.

Worst experience ever Red Car / Alamo, Melbourne
The car I received had a bald tyre on the front left hand side which I did not realise. I was driving frequently on country roads and freeways and after a week the tyre gave way. The Melbourne office would not give me a replacement tyre but offered a replacement car but as it was late in the afternoon I had no time to refill the petrol and they were going to charge me over $3 + per litre to fill the tank. I took the tyre to be repaired and was told it was irrepairable, very dangerous and unroadworthy. All of this took me about 4 hours fiddleing...Read more
around. I returned the car and pointed out that the tyre was unroadworthy. No appology. When I extended the car I was quoted $700 for a 7 day insurance coverage ? They had an excuse about my booking in the computer. Upon returning the car I pointed out an unauthorised $869.57 had been taken by Red Spot from my credit card. After some arguing on my part they agreed it was wrong and promised to refund it with in 2 working days. Eventually after over a week they returned my money but in small lots and I had to push for that. The Red Spot main number was not working. Do not rent a car from Red Spot Melbourne aka Alamo they are dishonest and unreliable.1 comment

Hired baby seat in car was a death trap waiting to happen
I give the one star for the fact that the car only had 800kms on the clock and was clean. Otherwise it would have received zero star (if that were possible) My issues are as follows:
1. The wait at rental desk at Maroochydore airport was about half an hour, very slow service.
2. The elderly gent that was serving us was a miserable fellow.
3. The car was only three quarters full of petrol (this wasn't a drama when we dropped it off with only three quarters in it though thankfully).
4. My last and main concern is the fact that;

I booked a car through Redspot Car Rental in Melbourne city. We arrived but the car was not available even though we had rented it onlne. They made us wait for 1 hour 15 minutes then informed us that the car had to be washed. We waited a further 20 minutes for the car to be washed. Terrible customer service and rude proprietor. We had to wait over an hour and a half for our car even though we booked before hand. Whilst we were waiting they served other people cars who came after us. After giving other people the small cars (which we booked) they have us a huge car that as difficult to drive and then didn’t even apologise for this HUGE inconvenience. I don’t normally say anything about how I’m of another ethnicity but all I’m saying is the white people who came before us were served. Which makes me think the owner is a racist.

Absolutely awful, terrible customer service. Rip off merchants.
This is by far the worst company I have ever dealt with.
Upon returning a car to them at Melbourne Airport during the night, I then received a $3000 charge for supposed damage. As I was overseas I did not see the email requesting this money, therefore by the time I returned to the country I had a different bill where my bill had miraculously changed to $900. I wrote to the company as I was sure it must be some sort of clerical error, as I returned the vehicle undamaged. I was then sent a picture of the car date stamped February 2016, over a...Read more
year before i had hired it, and told that it was taken just before I hired it, and then sent a photo of the damage with no date stamp, with an invoice dated a month after i had returned it for repairs. After writing to the company to question why this photograph was dated over a year previous to my rental, and enquiring about whether this damage had occurred after i had returned it I did not receive a response for over a month. When I eventually did, after chasing it numerous times I was told I had been sent the photos of the damage and I had to pay. I asked for my questions to be escalated to a manager however this was refused. I am now stuck with no answers to my questions knowing full well I did not cause any damage to the vehicle. I use car rental companies at least once a month, and I have never experienced anything like this. Absolutely appalling. Do not use this company.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Never again! Avoid at all costs.
I rented a car from enterprise in Cairns airport for 6 days. It was a Hyundai accent 2015. Despite the difficulties we had because of the bad weather conditions and heavy rain, we had reported -in the checkout report- many problems and observations on the front bumper, which was generally in a bad condition and also disconnected from one side as clips were missing! After returning the car, we were shocked to find them charging our credit card with an amount of $2972 for a dent they claim to be new underneath the bottom of the bumper! First, th...Read more
is amount represent more than 25% of the price of a complete car with its current condition while the cost of fixing such dent will never be more than $200. They had hidden the final checkout report including my observations on the front bumper, which had also been signed by their rep in the airport. I have been trying to request any concrete evidence such as a picture for this particular spot taken before I took the car, which -I believe- is a clear right of mine. Instead of providing such evidence, they keep threatening me by sending Notice of Intention to Sue and by informing me that they will convey the case to a debt recovery! To summarize, my experience with this company is the following: 1- They are abusing the authority we -as customers- give them on our credit cards. 2- Their cheap price is a trap. They will compensate the difference through unfair claims. 3- They are not honest: They had hidden the final checkout report and did not send it to their claim department. 4- They do not respect their customers rights in providing clear evidence that the damage is not a preexist one. 5- They have few claim consultants dealing with hundreds of claims and these consultants do not have the time to spend with customers. Either you pay as instructed or they sue you!2 comments

Don't book Redspot/Enterprise
We picked up a car at Launceston in July and were told it was undamaged. This was a lie as we photographed a small scratch on the front bumper before driving off. We returned the car in original condition a couple of days later. By the time we had flown back to Melbourne, Redspot/Enterprise had deducted over $2700.00 from our credit card saying we had caused new damage to the car. Very Happy
It's always nerve-wracking reading rental car company reviews when you're about to hire a car as there seems to be a lot of horror stories out there. I had the opposite - Red Spot had the best value for the car I wanted at Gold Coast, the car was very modern and in good nick and the whole process from pickup to return was quick, relaxed and easy. The icing on the cake was getting a phone call to say that I'd left my camera in the car so they would post it to me for free.
Definitely a great experience and I have a lot of trust in this company now.
