Buyer beware never again
Advertised cost per day $26.90 actual $47.25 with commissions. Add full insurance $100.90 per day. Add petrol plus road tolls and their commission again and you are not getting a car for the advertised amount. So they insure the vehicle and then charge me the equivalent of 12 months insurance based on what I pay for my home car for just four days use. Be careful what they advertise is not what you get.

Never Rent a Car from Redspot
I returned my car on 6 Mayember 2018 and was greeted by Sales Agent on duty [name removed]. Upon checking of the car and fuel she mentioned that everything was ok and I returned the keys and proceeded to checkin at Perth Airport on my return journey. In less than 5 minutes after that I got a call from her stating that there was a dent at the bottom of the car. She mentioned that there was nothing mentioned on the car form upon my collection of the car. Firstly if the dent is at the bottom of the car and the car was not lifted up for my inspect...Read more
ion, how am I supposed to notice of this dent in the first place. This dent could have originally been there caused by someone else and I did not meet in any accident or coalition. Therefore it is unfair for you to charge me for any damages for something which could have been there for a long time and not caused by me. I got photos taken by me to proof that the body of the car was in good condition and the only dent was below the car which I am not sure how she managed to find that out only after i left the place. She has now made an authorization of AUD2750 to my credit card which I would want you to make that reversal and to investigate this matter which I find it very strange and unprofessional.1 comment

Redspot is a joke. Nobody at the counter, sent our car to international departures instead of domestic and kept us waiting 2hours.

Never rent a car from this company
The worst company you could ever use, no customer service. They charge your credit card for no reason, with out letting you know what the problem is, give a feeble excuse, they will never check the car with you when drop it back and makeup things that you can never prove, and then charge you an exorbitant amount of money, to get a breakdown is nearly impossible to get, the customer is never right, once you have left Australia their is nothing you can do, as the already have taken the money off your credit card. They are dishonest and should never be trusted. Beware before it costs you up to $4000.00.

Avoid at all costs
Rented a car in Oct 2016, paid extra to reduce excess in event of accident. Was hit by another driver, complied with all rental obligations re reporting etc. Redspot deducted the excess from my credit card pending resolution with driver at fault. No communication from Redspot at all. I called them a few times to find out what was happening, first told paperwork not yet lodged their airport office (2 mths after event), follow-up call said they were still waiting on invoice from repairer (3 months), 3rd call was told the claim had only recently b...Read more
een lodged and sent to other party (4 months). 6 months later I was told they were still waiting to hear from the other party. Just called them again (almost 18 mths on) and was told they had sent the debt to collection agancy and received no response from the other party, and the file was closed, that they wouldn't be pursuing it. So I lose the excess paid, the driver at fault gets off scott free? Ok fine, but what is intolerable is the lack of communication from Redspot. Not once did they contact me to keep me informed of progress or notify me of the end result. Really poor customer service. Will never use them again.3 comments

the agreement for rental and purchase of the insurance cover, including providing the details of the other party's fully comprehensive insurance provider, I expected Red Spot to pursue the claim, not decide it was too hard and let me wear the cost. No where in the contract did it say that they will use their discretion when deciding whether to pursue at-fault other parties. In short I didn't get what I paid for. Red Spot then offered me 3 days free car hire. That's like going to a restaurant, getting food poisoning and being offered a free meal as compensation. I would still need to purchase the extras, such as misleading insurance cover. Sorry Red Spot, I make it a policy not to reward poor customer service or business practice.Similar opinion? Extremely Terrible - Scammed??? - Red Spot Issue Now Resolved
Further to my post below: Red Spot Car Rentals replied to our issue on 2nd May advising that they have now retracted their Letter of Demand. Red Spot advised over the phone that they intend to upgrade their processes to ensure that all pre-existing damages seen & noted by the customer will be marked on all copies of the Check-Out Report and advised accordingly to the booking desk. I advise Red Spot / Enterprise Car Rentals and All Car Hire Companies that any and all existing damaged on vehicles should already be marked by them on the Check-O...Read more
ut Report for the customer's confirmation and satisfaction and to provide the Customer with the opportunity to identify any further damage for the Hire Company to note on ALL copies of the Check-Out Report. This should be the responsibility of ANY the Hire Company who take on the responsibility of being in this business and providing their Customers the Top Level of Service. ........... Re Red Spot / Enterprise Care Rentals: I too, wish that we had read the reviews first. We booked through Expedia a Enterprise Car Rental (Red Spot Car Rentals) in Hobart and 9 weeks after arriving home received a Letter of Demand stating that we had scratched the car. We definitely did no damage to the car. We have contacted Redspot and provided them with the following info and evidence. On pick-up of the car there was much damage already done (many, many scratches) & the attendant went around the car with a disc saying that all of the scratches were within tolerance and that we would have no trouble with being held liable for any of the scratches. We insisted the attendant write on our copy of the Vehicle Checkout Report pre-existing damage (large scratches) around the boot area as these seemed the worse which he did and signed. We have notified Red Spot that we don't intend to be held liable and provided them with a copy of the Checkout Report as further evidence but they are at this point lagging in getting back with acknowledgement and withdrawal of the Letter of Demand. We definitely put no scratches on the car. We only took soft carry-all bags and carried these on the back seat, not in the boot. We will never hire a car from Enterprise/Red Spot again and never book through Expedia again. We cc'd Expedia in on this matter and all correspondence, but have heard nothing. Enterprise Car Rentals/Red Spot appeared to us to be unscrupulous, endeavouring to get the car repaired through someone else's pocket or through the Insurance Company.Similar opinion? Our vehicles are all registered with Registration Plate recognition which means that as each vehicle triggers the tolls points we receive notification of this and a toll charge from the authorities. If you were to have your own toll tag on board, and it gets activated, you would end up being charged twice for tolls. That's why we advise customers not to bring their own. We do have a few damage liability options available. These can be purchased to either reduce or completely remove the damage liability charges in the event of damage, regardless of fault. Redsopt car hire Add-on $$$
I have had 2 experiences with Redstop and the old adage, once bitten twice shy, I should have learnt, the first one was in Cairns, where when getting off the plane I at 8:00am, I had to wait 2 hours for someone to turn up to supply the car I had booked and confirmed for and 8:00 am pick up,
Second time was brisbane, just last week, where I booked on line with RedSpot and realising I got the uninsured option, I contacted their 1300 number and was told that the insurance would be $30 per day and easiest to do it when I pick up the car, total c...Read more

DODGY UNETHICAL PRACTICES
DO NOT rent from any car company underwritten by REDSPOT CAR RENTALS.. we rented from Enterprise cars and it was underwritten by redspot. thoroughly check all your agreements as they are completely dodgy and unethical. They claimed $3850 damage liability from us over a month ago and are REFUSING to send the final repair report form so we cant get our claim back from our insurance company. They say they are trying to pursue the cyclist who is at fault yet they ALREADY have taken our money and will not send the form. NEVER AGAIN. spend that extra 100 bucks and STAY AWAY from this terrible practice of cheaters.

Unorganized
Made bookings. HOTELS.COM First mistake. Had 90 year old parents with me. Waited 45 minutes to be served. Receptionist doing amazing job with her work load. Do paperwork. Told they have no idea if already paid insurance so pay again. Told they don't have a car for us yet. Even when it's 1 hour past the booking time. Have to wait with a couple who have waited, 20 minutes for a replacement car as they refused to take car allotted to them. Go in and ask can I take that car or any car as parents exhausted. Get parents to car. Won't open. Been given wrong keys. Back to office. Get right keys go back to car. Someone's reading glasses on back seat. Back to office. Over 1 hour finally get out of Perth airport with dirty car. Never again.

Waiting one month after the the windscreen was cracked for final invoice
The people at the booth were lovely- its head office who ruin the whole company. We cracked a windscreen on the car from a stone on the main highway roadworks. We reported it early and paid $1000 bond to cover the cost and were assured we'd get a final invoice and a refund of the difference between the actual cost (around $350) and the bond. I rang two weeks later to be told "we are very busy" One month later I'm still waiting. Not good enough.
There were also lots of hidden charges so that they really were no cheaper than the big three. I won't use them again.

DON'T EVER EVER RENT OFF THIS COMPANY
Not only did I rent a car that was dirty. After booking online I was expecting to pay a $200 holding deposit instead I was told after signing paperwork it was $1000 and not a holding deposit it was physically taken out of my credit card, 2 weeks later am still chasing up refund, Can't get a straight answer out of anyone, next step is TIO. Phone calls aren't returned and when I do eventually get through to staff they are so rude. Assuming they have to put up with this crap all day.

Hidden Fees Warning
booking was not trouble but didn't get the car promised (It's always "something similar").
Wasted an hour at Launceston airport waiting until the people before me got sorted. Then had to waste another half an hour doing the booking and negotiating other add on charges. Thought I'd paid it all off but my credit car was charged one again a week later (Why I don't know).

Surprise Fees and Lies.
My biggest gripe with my experience was being greeted at the airport and being told that I need to pay an "Under 25 year old" Excess which literally left me without money for food or petrol for my visit. I understand why this fee is in place but I had no indication of this went making my booking online. The worst part is being told by the [name removed] I think it was and some Indian lady, that no other car rental company rents cars to people under the age of 25. I later found this to be a big fat lie.
I just assumed they were telling the truth when this did happen and I kind of just left it.
I recommend Apex Car Rentals by a long shot. Way better service, cheaper rates and way friendlier people to deal with.

Unreliable even with prior online booking
We made on online booking early enough and they didn't have the seven seater when we arrived. Travelling with lots of kids. Made to wait about three hours at the airport before they could decide what to do with us. Ended up giving two small cars, so that meant double the process fee, insurance cover etc, not to mention double the fuel, tolls, parking costs. We were looking forward to one car to enjoy the holiday drive time/ music/ chat etc but unfortunately they messed up. I wouldn't use again. Why bother finding what you want online if they will not honour that booking??

I have a claim with ehiglobal as someone in an enterprise rental car ran into my car. The claims department are refusing to pay for the rental car that I used while my own car was being repaired, despite previously stated in writing that they would pay this. I have found their business practices to be unethical and deceptive. When are you going to pay my car rental costs as agreed? You have tried to set me up to be responsible for over $3000.
