I’ll save my self next time and fly out in person
Let me keep it simple. Requested an RS3 to be inspected in QLD as I’m in WA, car is valued at 60k AUD.
Report comes back all good with an average of 4/5 with no major issues.
Car arrived, picked up and first start I hear a rattle and a noise from the engine bay. After further investigation turns out the alternator was out. Failed to be recognised by their “highly qualified mechanic” Not only that I get told that he is shocked that the rs3 had the wider wheels at the front if only he did a tiny bit of search to see the plate on the door statin...
Useful info that I missed
Mark inspected our 2013 Honda Jazz. It was a reassuring report. He also commented that he'd sighted one key. It wasn't until we handed over the bank cheque and were given the one key that the significance of Mark's comment sunk in. (To purchase a new key from our local dealership was costly and time-consuming. Fortunately we thought to ask our local lock smith who came out the next day and charged a third the price.) Thanks Mark for your good communication and helping us to buy what is so far a very good car. I recommend that other people who have the benefit of your service listen carefully to all you say.
Redbook unlikely to pick up some potential mechanical failures, which can be costly!
Warning: do not rely on redbook inspection for anything mechanical that cannot be clearly seen - their inspections are (as they disclaim) visual only - e.G. They are unlikely to pick up such important things as brakes about to fail (as in my case costing me $1,300 extra) and will disclaim it in any case, so unless it's falling apart at time of inspection, such checks are pretty much useless.
I had a full inspection report done by Redbook and a week later both sets of brakes failed or needed replacing on my vehicle.
Redbook state on their re...port that "re-inspection is required" and that it was only a visual inspection. As a consumer expecting their professional opinion to protect me from significant additional costs, I question the value in a visual inspection at all. I could have done the same and come to the same conclusions as a layman. Most things in their report relating to the condition of the vehicle are cosmetic and can be carried out by a layman.

Very prompt, easy and thorough
The full interaction with Redbook Inspect was professional, prompt and user friendly.
I had a private seller car inspected, the online booking was quick and easy. By the next day the seller was contacted and a time booked for 2 days later.
I was kept up to date with the whole process via email.
Redbook inspector Mark was incredibly thorough and meticulous with the inspection. He called me once the inspection was finished to explain in clear, factual and simple terms the condition of the car. Mark was happy to answer my questions i had at the...time and encouraged me to phone back later if I had any more questions. The full report was emailed to me immediately after the phone call with the inspector, and contained a very extensive list of findings with all aspects of the car, along with 25 high definition pictures. I am very happy with the service Redbook Inspect provided. I will used them in the future and recommend others to do the same.

Fast response and the detailed report that I wanted
I requested an inspection of a Graysonline auction vehicle. The report was completed within 24 hours. (Redbook does not guarantee this response time but told me "they would try".)
The detailed report identified "badly repaired panel damage", something that could not be identified from Grays' description and I may not have noticed if I had viewed myself. The reported included pictures of the "dodgy" areas. This was backed up with paint thickness readings that showed significant areas of the car had been repainted.
The result for me is that I did not bid on a vehicle when my first impressions had me ready to press the Bid button".
I will certainly use Redbook again - whenever trying to purchase a vehicle remotely.
Extremely professional and trustworthy. Great customer service.
I live in Melbourne and booked a pre-inspection report for a car in WA. Lee (State Operations Manager WA) rang me to say that he's not going to do the pre-inspection report because he knew the car had been involved in a bad accident a couple of months earlier. He advised me not to purchase the vehicle. Lee advised that he was going to refund 100% of my fee. I offered to pay (because his advice will save me a lot of misery and money in the future), but he said he didn't do the pre-inspection report, and I should receive the refund in full. Which...I received within a couple of hours. Amazing customer service. So professional. I would recommend RedBook to anyone wanting a professional pre-inspection report on a motor vehicle. I will definitely use RedBook again. Thanks Mike
Excellent service and communication, fast turnaround and very in depth
Much more in depth than I expected and than the example on their website, and lots of useful information that I used to revise my max price when bidding (Grays online auction) based on the known issues identified by the inspection in order to get the car roadworthy as it was unregistered. Lots of information and pictures, especially considering it didn't even include the road test information as it wasn't allowed to be driven by Grays due being unregistered. My inspector, Damon, provided excellent communication and I was able to speak with him ...both before and after the inspection to discuss some of the identified issues and advise him some of the car options for this model I wanted him to confirm were fitted or not. Didn't end up winning as the car went over my revised price (winning bid was actually less than I originally had planned to bid up to before the inspection) so all in all money well spent in avoiding potential runaway costs to get roadworthy and I would definitely use again. . Booked Tuesday morning, they sent me an email confirming the booking with Grays for Thurs morning shortly after, and I I had the report by 1015 Thursday. Highly recommended for making an informed decision.
Efficient and through pre-purchase inspection
Considered going through RACV but found it much easier to book Redbook Inspect by clicking the link from within the carsales advertisement. No hassle service all easily completed online. Inspected the car on Friday night, booked the pre-inspection report immediately after and received an email to state that the seller would be contacted. Received an email soon after when the seller had confirmed the inspection date for the Monday. We were very impressed by the Pre-purchase inspection report and the Vehicle History Report which were emailed to u...s by lunch time on the Monday. Very thorough with lots of pictures and notes that allowed us to easily make our decision to proceed with the purchase. Would definitely recommend Redbook Inspect for peace of mind.
pre-purchase inspection miss easy noticable issue, and they don’t even feel sorry or take any responsibility
I bought my car 2 weeks ago based on the 4 stars report that redbook rated. I brought my car to Adrian Brien for car service days before, turned out there is a significant rust stain caused by water pump leaking and lead to a repair that cost me about $1400. To be honest, if redbook is professional enough to notice this big stain, I would not have purchased this car, or at least not to buy at the paid price.
I have contacted redbook right after the service. And they replied that RedBook Inspect will not be responsible for any defects that are ...latent discovered which were not visually apparent during the inspection. However, The stain is obviously visually apparent, according to the Car service professional mechanic. The photo of the stain was taken when the pump was attached to the engine inside of the engine bay prior to it being removed. it did not require to remove any parts or components to see the stain and sure its something easy enough to catch the mechanic's eyes. Redbook also claim that water pump is not included in the service area. I was not expecting a throughout inspection of the water pump as an individual part itself, but instead, the rust as shown in the picture was clearly an obvious defect as a part of the mechanical assessment, which should've been easily picked up by their 'professional inspection team'. Unless the inspector is not as professional as the website described, which obviously they are not. And, the pump was attached to the engine inside of the engine bay. Engine is inclusive right?

Awesome and detailed inspection report with heaps of photos
Received an in depth inspection report shortly after the inspection. The report also contained photos of everything inspected.
The owner of the car I inspected said the inspector was very friendly and professional.
Inspector picked up on car problems that were later confirmed during the roadworthy check.
The inspection also looked into things that wouldn't have come up during the roadworthy check.
Overall very pleased with the service and would highly recommend.
Professional, Prompt, Comprehensive
The report received was comprehensive, sent promptly and provided the information I needed to determine whether or not to proceed further with the vehicle. As I live approximately 700 kms from the site of the vehicle it can be appreciated how important it was to have an objective review of the vehicle prior to determining whether or not to view it. And, with the inspection being done by a professional, aspects were identified which I would not have discovered.
Best report I've ever seen
This is by far the best inspection report I've ever seen. I'm in Brisbane, trusting the expert mechanic to check and give me an honest report on the car in NSW. I'm so pleased with Mr B. Tildesley professional service. He called me within 5 minutes of sending the report.
Great service. Professional mechanic Mr B. Tildesley.
Writing false claims on report
A potential buyer sent Redbooks to inspect my vehicle.
The guy inspected the car and said for its age it's in great condition. As I will be supplying a RWC for the potential buyer any issues that arise I will have rectify and keep the buyer in the loop.
My car has never leaked oil in the 5 years i have had it. He spotted some old oil marks on the bottom of the engine and stated on the report " oil leaks possibly unroadworthy" I put my 4 kids in my car and always look after it.
Literally if its pressure washed and cleaned there would be nothing there.
Now potential buyer may not go thru with the purchase of my vehicle.
Good work redbook keep up the great work.
