Quality control issue and wifi not working
Disappointment. The optional wifi at 286AUD does not work. The finishing quality of the unit is very average. The 22mm finishing trim has scratches on the edge, the rope joint on the window is uneven. I suggest Regency to set a quality control department and hire qualified people to conduct quality check on every single unit. For a 7,000+AUD unit, this is the expectation from a consumer’s position. I do not recommend. Zero star.
Purchased in for $7,000.

Unbearable HUM
We purchased a Regency Greenfire 900L in November of 2018. What we discovered in that time is there is more to Regency Fire places than what you see in the pictures where you imagine the warm glow and the crackling of a log fire.
In the show room and in the glossy brochure the Regency Gas fires look amazing. They would have to be the most realistic looking gas log fires on the market.
We installed our fire and finally got a chance to use it properly in the winter of 2022.
The thing you have to realise about Gas fires is that they don't put out ...
Thank you for the response.
I would be interested for you to clarify what aspect of the installation was not according to your specifications?

I wrote the original review on the 13th of May 2020. A few days later a representative of Regency in Australia left a response stating that they would contact the Canadian parent company in the hopes ...
Read moreof a technical solution and they would be in contact with me. After not receiving any further communication from the Regency Representative I called their Melbourne office on the 15th of June to ascertain if their offer was genuine. I spoke to the receptionist who stated that a manager would ring me back, so I left my Mobile number with them. Today is the 9th of July and I have not received a call.Questions & Answers
Would more bracing around the fan help the situation? Simply spot weld supports. Painful that a customer might even have to think of this as an option but with an item this expensive you would think these issues would be sorted. We have a cast iron free standing wood burner and have been looking at gas inserts but the reviews on these and the NZ competitors are appalling. Given they are in excess of 10K I would expect rolls royce service and reliability. We are rethinking any purchase of these products now.
Hi Mike.
The issue relates to vibration. Good design dictates that you want to avoid having a vibrating component from making contact with any other component due to the possibility of transferring th...
Read moree vibration and amplifying it. If the fire box was made from cast iron then fixing the fan unit to that would probably work as that would be equivalent to a substantive mass but in this instance the outer box of the GF950 is very thin metal sheeting, screwed together and painted black on the inside.
Thank you for your honest appraisal and taking the time to make other prospective purchasers aware of the issue. I have been a member of choice for a while and might contact them to see if they would ...
Read moredo an independent review of these fires. I agree they 'look' modern and minimalist but as you have found looks can be deceiving. The old cast iron wood stove I had on the Murray years ago might not have looked the best but worked without any worry, even the 'Coonara' insert we used in Wagga was OK with a quiet fan. They were also made in Oz. We just wanted to step away from chopping wood but might have to continue to do so.Thanks Phillip. Although a year has passed since you have typed your review I will be reconsidering fireplace options now. It is a lot of money to pay to have an item that I may not be entirely happy with. Back to drawing board.
