Reid Cycles NSW, Sydney (page 3 of 4)
I went into the store with a small budget and slightly unsure of the best bike to suit my needs, not necessarily intending on buying anything that day. The customer service was fantastic and I ended up leaving the store with a bike, helmet and a bunch of other equipment all for an excellent deal. I got to test ride and they adjusted the bike to my height and comfort for me. Considering they offer great warranties and a free first service, it is a fantastic place to check out with a great range of bikes.
Great customer service, helpful, willing to do an offer for multiple items
Went in to Reid cycles in Sydney I loved all the bikes, I found it hard to choose one but staff were very helpful, they helped me choose a bike that was a suited for me and my needs, which was the ladies vintage bike, I also love my new padded saddle its very comfortable, I also purchased the basket for the bike which is very convenient for when I need to nip down to the local shops.
vey afordable, frendily staff
The service is woeful and you won't get the bike on the promised arrival date (and you will have to call up to find that out). But on the plus side, I was upgraded free to a six speed bike because of the expected delay. And because of staff incompetence, I was undercharged because they couldn't work out how to correct the balance. So the terrible service can work out in your favour. If you want a super cheap bike and don't care about customer service and how long delivery will be (expect a two month wait), then this is totally the place for you. Otherwise I'd recommend paying more elsewhere.
Cheap.
Lack of customer service. Extended delay in delivery.

I bought a Reid cycle Hybrid bike one and a half month ago for $300 as it looked like a very good value for a new bike. There was a bit of delay to get it and then the bike is not very strong. After a couple of use, many part are moving a bit and it does not seem very reliable.
Still works, but pretty mediocre quality
Cheap
Not strong enough
Ok, thank you!

My suggestion it is that you don't buy a bike at Reid Cycles if you are in a hurry to have it.
I went there few week ago with my boyfriend to buy two bikes, mine was ready, his was supposed to arrive after a couple of days. I paid for mine but I left it there, deciding to pick it up two days laters when my boyfriend's bike was ready. When we went back my bike was no longer ready. They sold it to someone else and I had to wait for another one. Two weeks later it is still here. Really [censored word removed] off.
Hi Sarah. Please email me at [email protected]. I would like to know which store this was so I can follow through.
Sorry, I did not see your question David. I had bought it from Reid in Paramatta Road, Sydney. I can say after 2 years that even if getting hold of the bike was a bit of a pain, the bike is great and I am satisfied with it.
I went in the Sydney shop to buy a bike and no one was available to serve. It was total chaos inside and no first come first serve process. I asked several times and was told I have to wait. That's fine but i don't think 45mins is a reasonable time to stand in a shop and not being served. I ended up leaving the shop and bought a bike elsewhere with better customer service and perks. I must say I was not the only customer waiting there but dozens were waiting to be served. Reid needs to re-think it's selling strategy and getting more staff during peak times.
Poor level of service
Just picked up my new bike which is a Xmas gift from my boyfriend. The bike(city 2) will be perfect for my commute to work and weekend fitness rides. the guy who served us had great knowledge and helped us choose the bike that best served my needs. The quality and value for money are fantastic!!!
Quality and price
I recently went into the Reid store in Sydney looking for a new bike. The manager there was so helpful in finding me the right bike and in the right colour! I seriously didn't expect it after reading some of the reviews here but the service was awesome! He took the time out to talk me through everything, which I totally needed because I was a bit clueless :p I absolutely love my ladies bike! I'd definitely recommend the store and the bikes. If you're looking for one of the ladies bikes I've got to say the purple is a winner in my eyes!
Great service and awesome bike
Hi
I'd just like to say that [name removed] your sales assistant at Reid Cycles Parramatta Road store gave my son and I sensational service. In fact I haven't experienced such personal care and attention in retail for years.
[name removed] gave us undivided attention for an hour and a half . He helped my son pick his first road bike for his first triathlon. But not only did he go the extra mile to make sure we were completely satisfied with the specific bike but he was also able to recommend many accessories to ensure that my son gets ...
Read morethe most out of his road bike training experience. [name removed] mentioned it was his first week at the store so I am even so much more impressed with his confidence in product knowledge and genuine desire to see my son outfitted with all the essentials for his new road bike sport. [name removed] even walked us to the car and helped load the bike onto our bike rack. He didn't have to offer to do that after spending so much time with us already.Find out how Reid Cycles NSW, Sydney compares to other Bike Shops

Good price for reasonable quality bikes, but the customer services are terrible. I purchased 2 mountain bikes online 1 month ago, and now I'm still waiting for the delivery?!!!!!
The website said 'you will get a receipt in your email after purchase.' But the receipt never come.... Lucky I screenshot the payment detail, otherwise it looked like I never bought a bike, although the money was deducted from my card within 2 day....
Then the waiting game begin for the bike, rang up online service, told me I should ring sydney store, rang there,...
Read more the guy told me 'if u don't receive a call from us, there's no bikes for u yet.' WTH?! Had been nearly a month... Think I want my money back... Cheap Bad customer service at sydney store, online purchase had no receipt, super long waiting time for the bikes.Hi Jethika. These bikes are in stock and can be dispatched within 24 hours. Can you please contact [email protected] so I can get all your details and see what the problem was?
We went to the store at glebe already knowing what we wanted thanks to bike exchange and although they didnt have the right size bike assembled and ready to go the assistant said we could pick it up in a few days. But we were so eager to get a bike we just bought the next model up and are very happy with the purchase. It was one of the cheapest bikes on the bike exchange web site. He also tried to sell us other accessories which we already had so just took the bike home, in and out of the store in less than half an hour.
Hassle free bike purchase
Just bought a Reid Falco sport model today (Friday 2 August 2013). After being on the phone, the store attendant who helped me, Alexander was very helpful. After saying what I wanted, he let me know I could either take the showroom, unridden bike home today or they could build one, which could take time, so I chose the first option. He then fitted me for the bike, changing the seat for height and reach, handlebar grips, helping me find the best position in what is my first road bike. He also let me know about gear changes, better ways to sit an...
Read mored ride, as well as small maintenance needs of the bike. He encouraged me to book the bike in, and gave me a deal on servicing as well as a few extras. Unfortunately, the lights and drink bottle were unavailable, but seeing as I should bring the bike back for a tune after a few weeks, I'm hoping they will be available by then. All in all, I found the service helpful, fast and sincere, without any sense of Alexander looking down on me for being more of a beginner. The four stars is only because I can't ride the bike at night without lights, otherwise it would be 5. I understand the store was empty, but the phones were ringing off the hook, and the people in the workshop were working on bikes constantly, so for a busy store I found the service very good. And I'm not a plant, no one has paid me or asked to me write this review. If anything goes wrong and is not sorted to my satisfaction, I will feel obliged to edit this review or post another one. Service, price, value, helpfulness of staff The starter pack was incomplete, but only a minor inconvenienceFind out how Reid Cycles NSW, Sydney compares to other Bike Shops

I ordered the x226 mountain bike and i have ridden it 3 times in total on some off road tracks made of rocks and the bike has done well to survive. I must say this is great value for money. $270 including some accessories you won't find anything this quality for cheaper. The only thing i would change is the tyres for offroading.... grab some 2.1 offroad tyres as the ones on there are great for suburban tracks but a bit thin for off roads. The colour and design of this bike are great. I have tried friends $1600 bikes and there is only minor noti...
Read moreceble differences (such as smoother gears and pedals and brakes). But for $270 i feel its great and all the parts work beyond satisfaction!! Now onto the customer service. There seems to be massive disorganistion and lack of comunication within the staff. when i first ordered my bike they advised me there was a bike in stock. So i went to the sydney city shop to find there were none in stock. Then they advised me because of the sales it will take 3 days to build. So I gave them 4 days and called back. The customer service rep advised it is still not ready and to call back in another 2 days. I called back and was advised it was being put together and will take another 2 days. After i waited the extra days i called back to be advised that the bike is still in a package waiting to be delivered from the warehouse. after another 3 days they advised it was on the floor and was getting put together... basically all up in took roughly about 2 weeks. so from the initial phone call of having them in stock... there was a 2 week waiting period. I think there needs to be an honest approximation relayed back to the customer or alternatively they should have at least a large amount of assembled bikes ready at the shop. Have a computer system that calculates how long it will take to have the bikes ready and all sales staff to be aware of the delays as i feel most of them have no clues as to what the demand and supply is. This seems to be more of management issue than ground staff. anyway saying that overall im happy with this bike!! amazing cheap price for a good quality bike!! customer service, management issues- 2 reviews

I Brought a vintage bike for my wife on the 10 july 2013 and put a mountain bike on order I got to take the vintage bike home but mountain bike was meant to take 1 week to get in it is now the 26th of july, I rang twice but got no were, worst customer service ever. I paid a $30 deposit on the bike but I'm guessing I lost that as no one has called me back. So turned off from that bike shop now. Rather go spend more money some were else. Customer service is cheaper than there prices. Will never shop there or recommend ever. Still waiting on my bike
I ordered a bike from reid cycles Sydney about a month ago. After originally being told it would be ready the next week (in time for my boyfriend's birthday). I was told I would have to wait another entire week before it was ready. Called the store the following week to confirm it was ready and was told it was still at the warehouse being assembled and that it should be ready by that afternoon. The man said he would call me back. He did not. I called the next day to find out what had happened and was told the bike was still in Melbourne and ne...
Read moreeded to be shipped. What a joke already! Either the staff blatantly lied to me or are just completely useless. The following week I called up and was told it would be ready on the Friday. I showed up on the Sunday and was told "still in Melbourne". I do not live anywhere near glebe and this was a huge waste of time and petrol. Called today and apparently my bicycle which I ordered over a month ago is in China. Not sure if I will ever see it. Expecting a call from the store manager today. But he seems to have no idea what's going on either. Probably just going to ask for a refund now. Who knows how long that will take. DO NOT BOTHER WITH THESE PEOPLE NO MATTER HOW CHEAP IT IS. So dissapointed... everything service wise is a nightmareVery happy with specs, but most of all because the service guys gave me my freebies plus extras for my last purchases of 'condors' thankyou very much that meant a lot for my son and I. Thanks for talking me out of buying an expensive falco for my 10year old enthusiast due to the obvious overstretch and not reaching the levers so I bought it for me thanks.
They were more than happy to help.
Not enough staff to counter the busy weekend
My boyfriend and I decided we both wanted wanted a bike and started shopping around. He found Reid Bicycles and they were the cheapest we've seen (we've seen a fair few). The service at first was okay, we already knew which bikes we were going to purchase without much help from the sales guy. After we purchased it I read reviews that the service and product were dodgy and became concerned. And soon enough I realised the invoice he gave us was wrong, overcharged us by a couple hundred dollars (didn't apply the discounts). We called up four times...
Read more (FOUR!) to adjust the invoice and STILL the invoice and prices were incorrect. Knew that their service (and time estimation lol) was dodgy so we called up a fifth time to ask when the bike would be ready since we were told in two days but we hadn't received a call. The guys working there seemed really apathetic and generally not as friendly. Once we received the bikes we were quite excited, took it for a spin. However, my boyfriend's spoke broke and the pedal cap came off. The brakes weren't adjusted properly as well. This was 2 hours after we brought it home. I'm really disappointed as I hoped that the cons wouldn't happen to us. Overall, terrible service as the brakes weren't adjusted properly, poor products but the style and design is cute. If you ever need a job where you don't need to do much, Reid is the place to go lol. The style and design is good, the price is good great for uni students like us Terrible (and I mean TERRIBLE) service, inferior product but I guess you get what you pay for- 4 reviews

Bought a bike for the misses. Was really exited to receive it and was told it was in stock and we would receive a call in 3 working days. 1 week went by, called to find out where it was. Was told by one guy that the bike was not in yet. Other guy told me it would be ready in another 2 days. Its now 11 days (9 working days) since we made the purchase and still no call. If we do not have the bike by this weekend I will be requesting a refund and going else where.
Good selection
False promises. Didn't deliver
Hi Mozbailey. Can you please give me the name this was ordered under so I can follow this up for you? Please email [email protected]
Hi Mozbailey. I have had confirmation from the Sydney store that this issue has already been dealt with. Is this correct?
I have been on the phone again this morning. Have been told the bike is in today and there is a 90% chance it will be ready for the weekend. Im not holding my breath though as i have lost faith in what i have been told.
I came in today to buy a bike for commuting to work, small trips to the shops and also for fitness rides on the weekend. I was greeted by friendly and knowledgeable staff who gave me advice and I settled on the hybrid City 1. My size wasn't available on the floor at the time, but within 30 minutes the Reid mechanics fully assembled it from scratch, which was awesome! I took it out for a test ride and it was a dream, the gears and everything were working great. Uphill, downhill, full speed or at an easy pace it was a very smooth ride overall. Th...
Read moree Reid staff worked out a fantastic bundle for me that gave me all the necessary accessories like helmet, lights, bike lock, bottle and cage and additional servicing. Overall buying the bike was a very easy and pleasurable process thanks to the wonderful customer service and fantastic prices, I highly recommend them!! Great customer service, solid bike, quick and easy assembly (even added on additional parts like bottle cage and lights for me) and they also have fantastic service and warranty schemesMisled me to sell me the bike. Misled me again when I picked it up. Order was not filled - did not have specified colours, handlebars or breaks. Told me to fix it up myself and that I could change them, (turned out to be impossible as the diameters were incompatible). Entire headset was loose as I left the store. Bar ends were missing. Tube valves (including the spare) were faulty. The pump did not work. Brought it back after one week ( had to wait to be noticed at all) as the breaks and rear wheel were making loud noises. Told me the breaks we...
Read morere my fault because of how I rode it, (one kilometer to uni on pavement??). They told me they'd look at it. Turns out the staff member simply oiled my chain and pumped up my tires instead. Rear wheel still makes loud noises. The staff are incompetent and only seem to care about making sales and getting you out as fast as possible. I very much advise against investing anything in this company. The bike, the service.Hi CT. Please email [email protected] I would like to follow this up.
Took a friend into the Reid's Sydney store on the weekend because he was looking at buying a new bike, and having visited Reid's before and test rode some of the road bikes I knew the quality was acceptable/exceptional for the price you paid! Was served by a representative who was very patient and helpful and at the same time being run off his feel by multiple customers. He got my mate set-up on a Reid City 1 and I decided to take a Falco Elite out with him for a test ride.
During the test ride my mate says to me hey is this bike (city 1) su...
Read morepposed to make so much noise? The front derailleur wasnt tuned properly and failed to shift to the highest gear and as the same time was rubbing on the chain, the rear derailleur was also not tuned properly and the chain kept skipping between gears, and the from of the saddle was racing upwards as if it was a BMX seat. This was a really bad start to trying to convince my mate that Reids have decent bikes with decent components for decent prices. so anyway we rode the bikes back (the Falco must have been built by someone else as it was working as it should) We explained the issues with the bike to our representative who did not hesitate to apologise and instantly noted the problem on the bike and rolled it out back to have it fixed, he recommended my mate try try one of the other City ones they had sitting on the show room floor. As a first time bike owner, I was very excited to receive my vintage ladies bike from Reid Bicycles however I cannot say that this experience has been a good one. Firstly, their service was rushed and quite frankly arrogant. Perhaps it is hard for them to believe but I have never owned a bike before and am not exactly sure what I'm looking for. I chose the vintage ladies bike because it looked cool and came in a great range of colours but beyond that, I have very little kind words to say. Firstly, the staff insulted my colour choice, then when ...
Read moreI was handing over my credit card they made me feel stupid for not knowing that I had to purchase lubricant and apply it to the chain every two weeks. When I went back to collect the bike two weeks later, they didn't offer to check the seat height, make sure my helmet fit appropriately or ask if I had any questions. In fact the staff made me feel stupid for any question that I asked and were very condescending. The first time I rode the bike the chain came off. Three times in 100m to be exact. I had to walk the bike back home and since it doesn't fit in my car, I cannot even take it back to the rude staff to ask them to fix it. This has been an infuriating experience and worse still, I know that it is not over as I will have to deal with them again when I can eventually take it back to be fixed. Not a happy customer. The colour and style of the bike Customer service and the quality of the product's constructionWhich store did you purchase from? Many of our customers are first time bike owners so it is surprising to hear the guys were condescending. If you felt this however it obviously suggests some trainin...

Have now had the X229 for about 6 weeks and been enjoying the commute to work (unless it rains)

Ordered a bike before Christmas to be delivered first week of January. Rung up in January to be told the end of January. Didnt hear back until I rung mid February to be told they had already had someone pick up the bike ( this was not true) they then said they would ring me when they figured out what was going on. Nobody called back so had to call once again the next day to be told I could pick it up on Sunday. Called on Sunday and told to pick up on Monday. Called Monday morning and they said it was ready. Got to the store an hour later and th...
Read moreey said its still out back being made ans will take another 45 minutes. I find this shocking as it was meant to be ready six weeks earlier, and how is it possible it not be ready when it is made in an instore workshop?! If I had not called querying where my bike was I would not have received it. Unreliable serviceHi Gemma29. Which store was this so I can follow up? Sorry for the miscommunication. [email protected]
Glebe. Thanks but It's okay now I have finally received my bike. It has just been a frustrating experience.
