I agree with mistyblue68. I almost didn't buy the thing because of all the negative reviews relating to "strong gas smells". I can only assume that they have to do with the existing connections. We bought the heater when our cold cold terrace became too cold to bear. Now it's toasty as hell. No regrets (so far anyway).
Quiet, almost instant warming and energy efficient
Not cheap but worth every cent.

Strong gas smell
We recently bought a Rinnai Dynamo 15 Convector and are very disappointed by the product. It is an expensive heater and does heat well, however, it is emitting a strong gas smell and we find it unbearable to use it in the house. After a quick google search, it seems a lot of people are complaining about the strong smell, too. I just wish we had known beforehand.

t to check it ASAP as it was fine up until now... It's a shame, as it's a great heater, warms pretty much our entire 3 bedroom house. Hopefully the problem can be rectified, as it is quite a costly heater!

Nice and toasty in our house. No smells here.
I wonder why so many people are complaining of a strong gas smell about this heater and have not bothered to call Rinnai and sort it out? We had the same thing and I cursed buying the heater. I called the technical department at Rinnai and sorted it straight away. The "kerosene" smell was because the heater is sucking in all the odours and cooking smells in our house and heating them. There was more technical jargon the guy at Rinnai told us. The first few times we used it we just opened all the windows and doors at once and put the heater on h...Read more
igh for 10 minutes to burn the odour off. I think because our kitchen is close to the heater it has alot of trapped odours in our house. We only did that once or twice, now no more smell. Apart from that a brilliant little heater. My place gets so warm. I hope I will have this one for years. Heats quite a large space. Please if you have a problem call the company. They were awesome. Energy efficient.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Is lpg the bottled gas?

Hi Jeremy C,
Thank you for the question.
LPG is Liquefied petroleum gas or liquid petroleum gas (LPG or LP gas), also referred to as simply propane or butane, are flammable mixtures of hydrocarbon gases used as fuel in heating appliances, cooking equipment, and vehicles.
LPG is also called bottled gas, along with propane, butane and mixtures of these gases. Bottled gas comes from natural gas processing and oil refining.
Thanks,
Rinnai Australia

Thanks for the question Vertkes, in some cases strong odours ie paint or new carpet can produce a strong smell when the unit is operating. We would recommend speaking to our technical help desk who can troubleshoot the issue with your. They are available on 1300555545 option 3.
