Rinnai Energysaver 559FT Questions & Answers (page 2 of 2)
30 questions from our users
Hi. Are on our second heater. Best thing ever though We have just had a power outage in our street and surrounding streets. Something very worrying just happened with our heater. as the power was off the fan cut out but the gas stayed in to the heater. We couldn't use the operation buttons. The heater became dangerously hot and had a very strong burning smell. Becand too hot to touch in just a matter of minutes. We very quickly turned the gas supply off as this was the only way we could exhaust the heaters flame. Should this happen ?
Thanks for the question Moo, the 559 heater doesn't have a flame so it is difficult to diagnose the issue not knowing what type of heater it is. Some of our portable range of heaters are designed to run without power.
If you can locate the model of heater we can assist further, alternatively if you can take a photo of the unit and email to [email protected] with the description above, our technical team can help.
Where can I find out the principles on which my 559ft heater works so that I can maximise it's performance.
For instance, one of my queries is, do I leave it on maximum until it reaches the selected temperature and then switch to Energysaver or do I run it on Energysaver all the time. Is there any advisory service in any of your outlets or are there any information brochures that would cover this? I find that, if I understand how something works, I then know how to operate it better.
Thanks for your question Curious. We have the customer instructions and installation guide that comes with the heater. For more detailed information we have a technical help desk that can talk you through any of your queries in relation to the heater. They can be reached by email at [email protected] or via 1300 555 545.

Yes exactly same problem. Two technicians have thrown in the towel over it. Can't bé good for the heaters longevity. Im very dissappoi7
Exactly the same problem and two technicians who assisted me at no cost have given up. I can't get them to sort it out. Something very wrong with this heater. Very disappointed after having two dodgy new wall heaters fail before this one. Looks like another VCAT job. Tired of rubbish products enterinģ Australia. Government needs to tighten the laws about these products. Had enough.,EL
Need to buy flued gas heater which heater can be flued through the floor to outside wall. Looking at 559 model but reviews seem to complain of noise and smell. What are my other choices?
ask use gas fitter. then check his answer with the manufacturer. and look at the product books.
Take a red pen and cross out all the option that will not work for you. ie size, flue option ect and take it from there. If you want it done right at a good price do the leg work yourself.
Hi, I was wondering why the humidifier tray has to have water in it constantly?
Thanks for the question Tash, The humidifier puts moisture back into the air as the heater is running and can raise the comfort level in the room when used. If you do not wish to use the humidifier function, it will not harm the unit not to fill the tray with water but the tray itself does need to be in place.
The humidifier tray can be filled with water as required to raise the humidity level in the room for extra comfort. If the humidifier is in use, it will need filling approximately about once a day during the heating season.
We had a Rinnai RHFE-559FT installed 18 months ago and last winter were concerned about the loudness of the heater and vibration noises. It is now at the point where we have to decide between the heater and the TV. Our experience with this heater has not been positive. Any suggestions?
Thank you for your question Don. The noise levels you are describing do not sound like the normal levels for this heater. Can you please email our [email protected] mentioning Product Review with reference 1605-118349 and we will arrange to have someone look at the heater.
well i am not a expert. My unit is only 2 or 3 meters from the t.v and you barely hear it.
Are you hearing a rattle like a lose panel, a rumble from an unbalance fan shaft or the fire roar or a rattle from the exhaust? I educated my self and the gas guy only really connected the gas and did the cert checks.
i have a rinnai 559 is over the 4 years brought with house has a rattle when first starts fan but this is normal acording to the manufactor?. only problum i find is fan shuts down even when temp not reached? last night set to 18c room temp on 16c when heater got to 16 heater shuts down so i had to set to 20c to get room to 18c

Thanks for your question aco. It is important to correctly size the heater to ensure optimum performance. To help do this we have divided Australia into 4 separate zones; very cold, cold, cool, mild. These zones relate to the capacity of the heater in each zone. They are a guideline only and assume a well insulated home with carpets, wall and ceiling insulation and curtains on the windows. We have a detailed heater selector on the Rinnai Australia website which may assist in choosing the correct heater or through the Rinnai sales team on 1300 555 545.
we live in the cold zone act?. it heats quite well in the front of the house mostly at 18c any higher the gas price goes thought the roof wa told to keep under 20c takes longer to heat but not so expencive in gas prices i run mine on eco setting econemy setting?. as having to
We have a rinnai 559ft we have it on 6to 8 hours a day we are using a 49 kg bottle of gas in 8 to 10 days is this normal?
Hi. I am sorry but our heater is a connected source and we have no experience of Gas in a bottle here. When we bought the place there was a old Gas Heater already flued and connected.
We've been using ours every day to a greater or lesser extent, day and evenings. We set the thermostat to 17 degrees for our latest 45kg bottle, which we bought 16 days ago, and there is about a hand span of gas left in the cylinder at present, which I expect to last for another week or more. Even when the cylinder appears to be empty the vapour left in the cylinder keeps the heater fuelled for a few days so make sure you change over the bottles manually to eke out all the gas for maximum use.
We too are disappointed by how much gas it uses, and have had to come to terms with the fact that we can't expect to use it to warm the whole house.
27th July, 8 days later, and the "hand span" of gas is still going strong. Feeling the temperature of the bottles is a very unsatisfactory way of gauging the level of gas left in the cylinders, and we can't even be sure if we receive the same amount of gas with every refill, without weighing the bottles. Which isn't the fault of Rinnai. The heater can warm up the house very quickly, and after a couple of months we are still learning how to use it for the maximum benefit.
Is this heater noisy? Anybody know the dB rating of the unit?
Does the heater turn on/off once set temperate has been reached?
The specs don't give a db rating. However the heater is not especially noisy. Our is located behind the tv and doesn't interfere with our hearing enjoyment. The sound is similar to that of a large fan. And, yes, the heater does turn off once the required temperature is reached.
No it's not really noticeable once you get used to it. and it does have a thermostat.
