Hi, this sound like an error code which indicates there is a blockage in the filter or airintake. The heater will shut down as a safety mechanism. If cleaning the filter and check nothing is blocking the intake do not fix the issue, a service call will be required.

Hi
Can the filter on these units be replaced ?

Rinnai A.Rinnai

Hi Christopher,

Thank you for the question.

I have checked with the technical help desk team and they have confirmed the filters can still be purchased through Tradelink or Reece stores.

I have also checked the manual and it states, filters should be cleaned every week during the winter season.

Hi I have a Rinnai 556FM Heater what does it mean when the on light flashes Red after it tries to start?

1 answer
Rinnai
Rinnai A.Rinnai

Hi Tracey,

The ON indicator will change colour from red to green when the heater reaches the pre-set temperature and stops running. If the heater does not ignite then the pre-set temperature may not be set to a setting which is higher than the room temperature.

It's a long shot and a wild guess, but I am wondering if the air temperature and flow sensor is dirty. It happens on diesel engines in my experience, so why not your heater? Low down at floor level, there is a grille. You can press the end catches (tricky to find) and remove it. Turn the heater off and feel around inside behind the grill. You should feel a thin rigid tube protruding down, with a tiny bulb on the end a bit like a match-head. I am guessing it is a temp/flow sensor. Wet a cloth with alcohol and wipe the bulb. There is an aerosol spray can called "CRC MAF Sensor cleaner" (MAF = Mass Air Flow). I don't recommend spraying anything into the heater though. Alcohol on a cloth should work fine, maybe iso propyl alcohol. Or maybe just even Methylated spirits. Do not touch the sensor with bare fingers after cleaning it.
Hope this helps, best of luck, Gary (NZ)

Hi Paul, thank you for the question. There could be a number of reasons for the heater not getting to temperature and a service call may be required to diagnose the issue. In a lot of cases it may be that the heater is not the correct size for the room installed. You have speak with our technical department on 1300 555 545 and they may be able to help you.

Ive just noticed a small amount of water on the floor behind the my heater 556FTR (rear right side viewed from front). Its not a large amount which leads me to think it may just be condensation. All functions otherwise appear normal. No smells or other issues. Should I be concerned?

Energysaver 561FT

Hi, we have a room that is 56 square meters with a reasonably high ceiling (3ish m) Do you think this heater will be sufficient to heat the room well? We currently have an old daikin inverter but miss the comfort of the warm air from a gas heater. Also the daikin takes a while to heat the room and we are constantly freezing. Just don't want to purchase a second heater with insufficient capacity!
Thanks!

Hi Sam
A lot depends on where you live and how well your house is insulated, but I don't think so.
I have a larger area and 2.7M ceiling and my 559ft unit works very well but I am in Perth WA

Thanks for the question Wayne M, it is possible that dust has settled in parts of the unit where you are unable to reach. Did the installer clean the unit when he attended? We do recommend servicing the units every 2 years to ensure correct operation. A booking can be made here:

Hi Betty
Not sure about replacing the Vulcan Quasar. It needs to go on an external wall and needs installing with a qualified Gas Fitter and an Electrician
It is a great unit and very economical. Heats a very large open plan kitchen and family as well as warm a large part of my house. Although I am living in Perth so it does not get too cold too often
Good luck
