Hi.
My Portable aircon seems to not be pumping cool air out as it was before what would the reason be for this? I’ve not owned it for longer than a year.

RPC35WA / RPC41WA what’s the difference? Is the 4.1 noisier because it’s got a bigger motor? Or do they both make the same amount of noise? I bought the 4.1 For my bedroom but if the 3.5 is not as noisy I think I would have preferred that.

Not sure. Probably the same. I got used to it after a while since I had it in my bedroom for more than a month. You can wear headphones while listening to music or wear ear plugs. I don't wear ear plugs because I fall asleep after a long day at work

Bought my RPC41WA yesterday. Did a great job cooling my bedroom but woke up in the middle of the night with the carpet completely drenched wet. The instruction manual is so unhelpful particularly regarding the condensation house/draining. It is now the weekend (hottest of the year with a 5 weeks old baby) so I won’t be able to call Rinnai until Monday. Please Help

Hi David.
I had the same problem; Ive found if you attach the drainage hose to the higher up plug (near the exhaust hose) it will drain while operating. Just make sure to have a large container to run into, as mine throws out 10 litres of water throughout the night. I hope this has helped, and good luck mate.

David M.
David M.

Thanks Patrick after reading some other comments on here and yours I realised one of our plugs (plug 7) was left open... so I plugged that rather than attached the hose and very nervously left it on through the night. No leakage but I can hear the water building up and swooshing inside so I’m sure will have to drain it sooner rather than later. Will probably still give Rinnai a call. I can’t beleive how bad the instruction manual is!

I have had my portable Rinnai RPC35WA for 2 months and 3 times it has leaked over the carpet of our rental which has ruined the carpet with a bad stain. I initially plugged hose on 7 but have now changed to plug 12 but no water is coming out. I am freaking out it’s going to leak again. The booklet is not very helpful or offers any advice if it leaks. PLEASE help and tell me or even send me a diagram of where the hose is best placed aaaargh

Hi,you don't need to use the hose, like me close all the plugs by theor covers and use it normally, whenever it's water container gets full it will stop automatically, I used for 2 months and it hasn't get full yet and no leaks at all

Rinnai
Rinnai A.Rinnai

Hi Shell M,

Thank you for your question in regards to you Rinnai portable cooler.

Baha F is correct in their reply, as the Rinnai portable cooler doesn't require continuous drainage during use and can be drained once the 'FULL TANK" code appears.

Please see below, taken from our manual.

If you would like to private message us your contact details, I can email or post a copy of the manual out to you today.

During operation the appliance may produce small amounts of
condensate. The appliance has an inbuilt condensate tank. If all three
drain outlets (7), (8) and (12) are plugged, then this tank may reach
capacity. If this happens, the appliance will stop operation and the
condensate full code “P1” will be shown on the control panel display
and the condensate tank will need to be drained before operation can
be resumed.

To do this:
1. Place shallow tray such as an oven baking tray or similar (with at
least a 1 litre volume) under Drain Tray Outlet (12).
2. Remove the plug from Drain Tray Outlet (12) and drain out the
condensate water, once the condensate is drained replace the
plug, the appliance will now be able to then resume operation.

Thanks

So how did all the water leak out and from where? It was like 2 buckets full had been tipped out?

Hi, I have had my portable airconditioner for approximately 8 months now. I use it all night every night and some of the day. I have not had to empty the unit at all yet. While it is on I can now hear water swishing around in the unit, it sounds like a washing machine. I tried to empty some water out of the unit but none came out. Is this normal?

1 answer
Rinnai
Rinnai A.Rinnai

Hi Chanelle H,

Thanks for the question, the amount of liquid build up in your unit directly relates to the level of humidity. Prior to Summer, if the humidity has been moderate, the build up of liquid will have been minimal. The RPC range of portable air conditioners are designed to remove any condensation from the air by pumping it into the hot outlet pipe. On days of high humidity there can be a build up of liquid collected which will accumulate, however the liquid needs to build up to a certain point before draining is required. Operating the cooler on DRY (de-humidifying) mode on days of high humidity may reduce the production of condensate. Should you wish to discuss this further please contact our Technical Department on 1300 555 545 (option 3).

Thanks,
Rinnai Australia

Hi Amanda P,

Thanks for the question.

The top plug is to be left out as this is a drain outlet for the air conditioner, the second plug should be left in as this connection is not used in this model.

Hi Rinnai team:
I am hoping you can advise. I bought the 3.5 kwh portable aircon from The Good Guys the other day. I had mentioned to the salesperson that my windows are the awning type with the top portion opening only and asked whether this air con would work. He said it would. I have today installed the machine and there is no way to install the ventilation pipe with my awning window. I don't want to return the air con as I quite like it and I think if I can make the ventilation part to work it will be quite good for my small bedroom.

Can you please advise if any customisation is possible to suit awning windows?

Thanks,
Sharmin

Probably the most awkward part is the window kit and I did not give any great detail as how I manage to "fit" the window kit to my sliding window that slides sideways from left to right to open. Another awkward situation is when the machine is on the floor and the window is a few meters above. Solution: use chrome shelving you can get do it yourself easy by buying the shelf and poles from Kmart. It's just a matter of getting someone to help you to lift the machine and place on the shelf so that the plastic pipe is kept at a short distance to get rid of the heat quickly. See Youtube from Kmart. Also Youtube video showing someone using a plastic frame for his window kit.

Hi there,
I purchased my portable air con a little over a month ago. in this time it has not alerted me that the water needs to be emptied even though I use it on a nightly basis. I tried to empty it but it didn't contain any water. It also constantly switches from cool to air.

1 answer
Rinnai
Rinnai A.Rinnai

Thanks for the question Chanelle, it is not unusual for the air-conditioning unit to not require emptying as it depends on the weather conditions. In more humid areas where the unit is drawing more moisture it will require emptying but the unit will display when this is required.

We do recommend emptying at the end of season or for periods when the unit will not be used.

Our technical team may be able to help with the other issue you are facing, they are available Monday to Friday on 1300 555 545 option 3.

RPC41WA

I bought the RPC41WA a few weeks ago and got it delivered last Thursday. On the first night of use (Friday) I had the condensate drain hose on and woke to have a saturated carpet. On the second night I had a 80L bin which the unit filled it up almost to the top.

I then plugged up the Drain Outlet (7) and no problem. Is the correct way to use is by plugging up the Drain Outlet or by connecting the Condensate drain hose? Thanks in advance.

Is it suppose to keep switching from air con to just fan then back to air con? 3min air con, then 8min just fan then switches back to air con. Did I get a faulty unit?

Rinnai A.Rinnai

Thank you for the question Rey. The Air conditioning unit is suppose to run continuously, if there is a demand for use. If there is no demand required, a technician is required to inspect the unit. We would recommend contacting the installer to inspect the unit to make sure the installation is correct and enough refrigerant gas is available in the system. Alternatively you may call our customer service on 1300 555 545 option 2 for further assistance.
