Heaters Buying Guide
Our buying guide will explain which type of heater would suit you most, how much you can expect to pay for one, and which features are worth looking out for.
- Ultima II Console
- Verified purchase
A lemon, unit never worked for longer than a month. Rinnai know this unit has major defects no customer service
The heater has major problem and constantly comes up with an error which the company fully knows about, and has failed to address.
It has never functioned from the time of installment.
Purchased in April 2021 at The Good Guys for $2,179.00.

good heater
Had heater installed for a week. heats beautifully. I replaced a 30 year old rinnai that worked fine but lacked the capacity of heating my raked ceiling home.
Not sure what people are complaining about with the temperature control mine starts up full blast as the room heats flame goes down ant it seems to keep a constant heat.
Only issue is the clock, too comlicated to set up the timer, finally managed to set the actual time and then gave up.
In summary heater is excellent and i would recommend it. Hopefully there are no gremlins lurking that have affected other referrs.
Also after readin the reviews against my better judgement i took out an extended warranty from the Good Guys at Hectorville who gave me an excellent price.

toasty heater
This to date is very good no problems and lots of heat quiet too no problems the timer is a little difficult to wrap your head around but no too hard to use when the power cuts out th clock needs to be reset but the timers stay set. You have to stay on top of cleaning the filters or codes can pop up I am told it takes some getting used to having the fan run when it is switched off to cool itself off.
Very Happy

Find out how Rinnai Ultima II Console compares to other Gas Heaters
Know better, choose better.
really over this piece of S$&÷T
every year something always seems to break down on my Ultima II. Have it serviced evey 12 months but doesnt seem to help at all. Latest issue was combustion fan, which was replaced may 2016, heater not used since november 2016, coming up error code 61, tech just left, may now be the wiring or the circuit board, has to order and try to see. just with the fan last year and now this bill looking to be approx $700 plus, has cost me more to keep repairing than what l paid for it. was meant to be such a great heater and so energy efficient. yeah right.

RINNAI .. MODEL; REH-311 FTC
OMG..Every year code 12 and shuts off . costing a fortune since first purchased having to have it cleaned/serviced. I brought a Rinnai because they are suppose to be a reputable brand instead I think I have a lemon. At 12 months old it started now it is costing a min of $195 for call out to fix. Rinnai what is going on we are a family that just cannot afford this just to maintain a heater. What has happened to one of the once respected brands in Australia.. So upset and would now never recommend them. We are now all freezing our butts off.. Thank's Rinnai for letting us down.
Regards Linda

Hi is there any way to lift front glass off for cleaning dust that accumulates inside and in filters? Rinnai Ultima 11 REH-311FT (C)

Thanks for the question Nicky, we do not recommend removal of the front glass other than a licensed plumber. Regular servicing can ensure there is no accumulation of dust
I had the same issue with a lot of dust behind the glass and a couple of dead moths! I decided to do it myself as it costs around $ 200 to get a service call. That's why aged pensioners don't get their heaters checked out by the way. Well I took the bottom panel off by undoing the 2 secreted screws, you can see them if you lie on the floor, one either end behind the vents. Then take the 2 screws at the base of the main panel out, one either side and gently tilt the whole panel up whilst holding the bottom edge. It tells you how to do this in the manual which is on google by the way. Once off, there are 3 retaining clamps that hold the inside panel against the glass, 1 each side about 100mm long with a central retaining screw and 1 at the top edge about 300mm long that has 3 screws holding it in position. Always make a note of the way you took it apart and then put it back the same way, eg the cover has a top and bottom edge and the vents on mine needed to go to the top. Cheers Stu

I find the best way to run the heater is to select Gas Econ Auto Off, I have it on 20 to start with in the morning and it takes a while for it to reach the 20, but so long as the set temperature is highter on set than the temp on current, it should work and go to 20 or within 1 to 2 degrees of the set temp., during the day as it warms up a bit, I change the set temp to 18 and the current temp will start to drop back to match it, it has taken me quite awhile to conquer this and their is not much info in the booklet, so it has been trial and error, as the installer doesn't seem to have much product knowledge either, hope this helps
Hi tried that and it still set down Light was red and went green when it reached 20. I have cleaned the inside. -Thanks so much Tony Ansett

My heater keeps coming up with the code 14. I have cleaned the heater but the code 14 keeps coming up and heater automatically shuts off.
What can I do?

l had same code. it was combustion fan. had to be replaced.
Rinnai A.Rinnai
Thanks for the question Fredp, error 14 does indicate a possible issue with the combustion fan, if the heater hasn't been serviced recently this may be all that is required.
