Earlier this year I purchased a Sabco Lightning mop and pad refills. The pads did not last long before the glue failed(see image). I complained to Sabco, and they were quick to acknowledge the problem and send me replacements which they assured me were redesigned. So far the replacements are working OK. Thanks Sabco. I wish all retailers/manufacturers were this helpful in overcoming product problems.

I have now used the Sabco lightening mop and was disappointed with it as the sponge head fell off as the glue didn't hold it on. I since went on and bought some new and improved refills and they did exactly the same, falling off within a few times of use. This really disappoints me as I was willing to give the new and improved mop sponge refills another go as I do like the mop itself, but really disappointed that the glue is still not effective. Unfortunately I had to buy some more refills, again, 3rd time lucky I hope, because I have a new puppy and was in desperate need of a something to mop up accidents. I doubt they will last but until I workout what I can replace this mop with, I am left with an unsatisfactory product.
What a shame.

I recently bought refills for my Sabco mop and on first use the sponge came away from the base. So I threw that out, attached the second sponge and this time the sponge completely fell off into my bucket! I contacted Ana at Sabco. She told me about the recent batch of sponges that had been made with a poor quality glue. She said that she would send me a couple of replacements and I received them this morning! It is not often these days to get such great customer service and it really made my day.

I have been using the 4 post mops for more than 40 years. I only changed to a new mop when the green one became available, as my old mop handle became slightly bent from use, and I thought I deserved the new green one. I wish I still had the old one. I still persist despite the poor change in the design of the holes for the posts which, because of perforations, deteriorate and the mop is then useless (everything still perfect except for the holes). I had a new cleaner coming so I puchased an Oates brand mop at the supermarket and the handle squ...
Read moreeeze broke on the second use. I complained to Sabco a few weeks ago after three failures and was sent a replacement mop. It got lost in the post and was replaced with some additional sponges and cleaning clothes as a bonus. Ths size of the sponge gets into small spaces and the squeeze mechanism is easy to operate even with my arthritic hands. Anna at Sabco chased the missing mop and organised the replacement and was extremely helpful. I would still like the design to return to the non preforated holes, so I don't have to keep throwing out good mops, and contacting Sabco for replacements.Purchased in at Home Hardware.

I have used Sabco 4 post mops for years quite happily. But then when I bought the latest one noticed that they had changed the sponge mounting. Instead of the 4 small holes that you fed the threaded posts through and then did up the long tunnel nuts, now they have large diameter holes with "fingers" in them.
This is apparently the dumbed down version that has been foisted on us consumers. It has been expertly designed so that after about 5 uses the tunnel nuts are pulled through the fingers as the sponge dries and contracts. This bends the fing...

I agree with all the comments, sponges last two weeks at most - leaves bits of sponge all over the floors, probably the worst mop I have purchased, expensive to buy will be ditching it!

Sponge mop refills are moist when packaged at the factory, but can dry out if the stock is old or has a rip in the packaging. Used to have a Lightning Quick Dry (SAB31019) but for some crazy reason they stopped making the refills for them. My friend has just used the last refill she had and still thinks it's the best mop ever.(31019). Sorry but the 30022 is hopeless (junk). The sponge just falls apart and then falls off. Why make something good and then discontinue it? Looks like it's back to Oates or Vileda.

Read moree mops as it picks up more dirt & water, leaves fewer streaks. But when cellulose dries out it contracts. If dried out too quickly (e.g. by leaving the mop outside exposed to wind, sunlight etc.) it may contract too quickly and cause damage to the cellulose.Unfortunately, once this happens, the sponge will disintegrate.Find out how Sabco Lightning Mop SAB30022 compares to other Mops & Buckets

Sponge pulls out off the mounting holes when sponge dries and curlers up. I am sure I am not the only person with this problem.
