Disgusted.
From this email that I received from Scenic yesterday you could be forgiven for believing as I did that I was being offered a further 20% voucher on my rescheduled trip on Scenic Eclipse. WRONG!! I contacted my agent to take up the offer, when she contacted Scenic she was told that the offer only applies to 2 River Cruises. I am disgusted by their blatant use of misleading information,it is little wonder they are dragged through the courts with monotonous regularity.I am a Diamond level customer who has enjoyed previous trips but due to recent behaviours I will not be booking any further trips with them.

Scenic Tours is like the slick packaged guy every Mum warns against.
The Scenic tour brochure was so gorgeous and glamorous and slick. I fell for it hard and did not even bother to take much notice of the staid flimsy Viking tours brochure. Viking tours was highly recommended by Mum's friends, all seasoned cruisers, but I wanted to be one of the beautiful people (models in the fine print) in the Scenic brochure. Just like the slick packaged guy every Mum warns against, I should've looked beyond the gold embossed typeface and the tactiley substantial pages of the weighty tome of Scenic travel dreams...I really s...Read more
hould've listened to all the seasoned advice, I should've chosen the staid, true, tried and tested dependable and ethical package...the Vikings tour. Because now Viking Tours are giving their clients the option of a full refund, whilst Scenic tours is refusing to give refunds and has our $60+K Bucharest to Amsterdam trip of a lifetime sitting in their bank account whilst we hold our breath that they don't go broke. Scenic recently lost in the High Court (Moore v Scenic Tours Pty. Ltd.) and are up for around $16M payout to 1,500 passengers. The case reveals the poor ethical culture of Scenic Tours and how they treated a humble school teacher as a nuisance. If we are fortunate enough to get the trip, at least we'll have something in common with the other passengers!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Where is our Government and ACCC .
I likewise have the same issue with Scenic, it is ridiculous that they can hold your money for 2 years. You have to be disgusted by both the Australian Government and ACCC who have done nothing to protect Australian consumers on this issue. Extremely poor inactivity by both parties, in many parts of the world governments have legislated that full refunds Must be paid.

Scenic tour Suspended. Still being charged a cancellation fee
The tour/river cruise we had booked has now been officially Suspended - no tours until 31st August 2020. As we were to depart 11th July we have had to cancel our trip. Scenic charging an exorbitant cancellation fee - $2,000 loss of deposit paid plus $4,000 for the "Fly Free Flights". How can you charge a cancellation fee for flights that are supposed to be Free and that have now been cancelled. Will never consider using Scenic again and will boycott and hold protest placards at all future Scenic showcases in our area telling people not to book with this company. Scenic - you should be ashamed of yourself. We have been totally ripped off. Take my advice - Do not book a trip with scenic.

Bad business
Booked scenic/ evergreen for August 2020. Tour suspended.
They have nothing comparable to offer and won’t give money back until mid 2023. That’s 4 years with our money.
The only choices are river cruises, no thanks.
Will never use them again.
They offer 10% extra for future travel and this comes under what is already paid.

Be extra careful booking with scenic
Booked a tour of the Rockies and Alaska cruise for the 23 may to 14 June tour was cancelled due to virus rebooked because they said no refund. Have just cancelled the 2021 tour and told I will loose $6000 of the$33000 paid.I feel ripped off will never book a tour with evergreen or scenic again. Read the conditions about cancelling a tour is my advise to any one considering booking a tour with any operator.

Scenic's Cancellation Policy
We were booked on the Scenic Jewels of Russia Cruise from St Petersburg to Moscow departing Sunday, 21 June 2020 returning Sunday, 15 July 2020 and paid in full in October 2022. We have written to Scenic twice asking for a refund rather than the promised credit valid until Dec 31 2022. The original terms and conditions stated that if Scenic cancelled for "what ever reason" that we were entitled to a full refund. As they have now changed the wording to "suspended" we are unable to get a refund. Constantly changing COVID 19 policies to protec...Read more
t their interest. The funds are with Scenic now and I am sure that it is earning interest. This is not our first trip with Scenic and previous trips were excellent but we will never use Scenic again! The concern for us is that if the company goes under as creditors we will not be receiving the amount that is owed to us. The cost of the cruise if it eventuates will also be more than what we paid so I am sure that we will not be receiving like for like. Also the new cancellation policy attached to the credit is unfair. I will be lodging a complaint with the WA Department of Consumer Protection.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Scenic’s Cancellation Policy Totally Not for the Client
Booked with Scenic on Feb 19, 2022 and paid the total Feb 14, 2020. Unfortunately this cruise from Budapest to Prague was suspended and they offered a 110% credit to be used in 2.5 years. When inquiries were made about a refund I was told due to their policy I would be receiving only 50% back minus the airfare. How do you take away airfare That Scenic stated was free in their advertisement and they booked the airfare so out of $14000 I will see around $3400. How do you do the credit when we still have no international flights allowed to leav...Read more

Refusal to Refund Payment for Cancelled Cruise
Invoked a force majeure to avoid refunding money paid for a cancelled cruise, saying a refund was not payable until December 2022. This may be technically acceptable to some, but consumers have long memories and brand is trashed.

Refund refusal due to coronavirus.
Have paid $30,700 for Prague to London Europe river cruise with Chelsea flower show. We were due to depart 1 st May. We also prepaid our excursions and upgraded our flights to premium economy. Cruises up to 30th April received a refund. As they have used the word suspended and not cancelled they can apparently keep our money and offer us a credit which is valid to Dec 2022 If we cancel we lose all our money. If we wait the 2.5 years until Dec 2022 we can have a full refund if unable to travel. I want my money now not in 2.5 years. I have...Read more

Scenic Tours, $26K Theft of customers money, COVID-19 refusal of 100% refund within 30 days of payments, zero warranty.
Flight Centre and Scenic was aware of COVID-19 complication affecting travel and still continued to take bookings and customer payments knowing a pandemic was possible. We made a $26,000.00 payment cleared Jan / Feb 2020, COVID-19 restrictions commenced in February 2020 within 30 days of our funds released, Immediately within 15 days of payment we contacted Flight centre and they reassured all was ok, not to cancel. ntre as Neither could deliver on the services promoted sold and advertised and notification within Australian consumer trading laws we should be entitled to a full 100% unconditional refund under the circumstances the full $ amount of the Cruise was received by Scenic and Flight centre with in 30 day warranty terms. Despite the emails, early notification and request, both Flight Centre and Scenic seem to have refused the 100% unconditional refund and it seems they are intentionally dragging out the time so at each later notification in the T&C's they can not be held accountable to refund the money $26,000.00. The River cruise trip was due to depart in May, The were both given full notification in February of the COVID-19 customer concerns, 70 days prior to departure. We have been fobbed of for one month into March and when calling Scenic and Flight Centre by phone for an up date, we have been on hold for two hours before hanging up on several attempts. Beware of caronavirus cancelation policy from Scenic River Cruise
Not really happy with scenic. Unable to travel because of caronavirus, we were offered to cruise at later date but if we canceled on the next cruise we would loose 100% of our tour price. Read your new cancelation policy well everyone affected by caronavirus cancelations. No win for us. Big win for scenic if we have to cancel again. You keep that up Scenic nobody will want to book with you again. Lots of airlines & hotel chains bending over backwards to keep their customers. Not so Scenic!

Christmas Wonderland - Amsterdam to Budapest December 2022
This was our first Scenic river cruise, which was advertised as a “Christmas Wonderland”. There wasn’t any Christmas wonderment about it. The only decorations were a tree in the entrance, one in the lounge and 2 foam snowflakes on the windows in the lounge. In the dining room a small table decoration per table. That was it, no lights etc. we parked next to a few ships who were beautifully decorated, lights, Santa’s etc. When staff were questioned about the lack of decorations the answer was that Scenic wanted minimalist!

My wife and I along with two friends decided to book a European Cruise with Scenic that was to have taken place in Nov. 2022. Tour preparations were made with Scenic and a deposit $2000 was paid from ourselves and our friends.
Unfortunately soon after the deposits were paid one of friends canceled and both deposits were then held by scenic for future use within a two year period.
During 2022 our friends made another booking with Scenic this time for a New Zealand bus tour. Owing to a problem with one of the tours not being available they cance...Read more

Poor client response and dealing with problems that have occurred on a Scenic Tour
My wife and I undertook A Scenic Magnificent Canadian Rockies and Alaskan Cruise in September October 2022. Scenic's claim is that they "set the benchmark in 5 Star Luxury land journeys". For this their tours come at a premium cost. If you get 5 star service you gladly pay the premium cost. Our tour ended up way short of Scenic's Claims and commitments. Because our tour was the last of the season numerous standard undertakings given by Scenic were not offered or available through major Towns on our cruise part of the journey and towns and areas...Read more
of the Rockies part of the tour. Upon returning I questioned this with Scenic and I was palmed off as it was the last tour for the season. Yet the cost of the tour was close enough to the middle of the season, but, it was higher that the first 7 tours of the year. Nowhere in their literature did they show or explain that this could happen during the tours of September. After a number of emails between myself and Management they completely disregarded my expression of disappointment with certain aspects of the tour and the way we were being treated. We received no understanding or joy from Scenic. My advice to you is that if a Scenic tour does have problems do not expect Scenic to respond to your concerns and hope for some acknowledgment and recompense as I found out. In 2014 a group of travelers on a river cruise had to bring in a class action against Scenic to address the unsatisfactory delivery of a river cruise. Fortunately they won the case and got some recompense. I hope it never happens to other Scenic travelers.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Scenic trip great - customer service and liaison not.
May/June 2022 - Scenic Pearl Budapest to Amsterdam. The trip was fantastic - definitely 5 star.....but water levels in our favour (except one bridge had to change from Pearl to Jewel). Would pull out if water levels precluded the trip and really felt for those coming in opposite direction who had 3 days on bus. We Miised out on Passau - and longer on the bus - but the change was seamless.... the staff were amazing. What made it great was the staff - the grass roots level staff. hesive and happy group that make the trip. As regards the bikes - they “solved” that one on our cruise by saying you had to be a regular and strong bike rider - and suggested by our cruise director that if you didn’t ride daily it was not for you! Not an accurate recommendation. Having said how great the actual trip we had was (and it was fantastic apart from not being able to use the balcony because of the smoke from the 2 smokers - leaving 148 non smokers - amongst the passengers anyway - wafting in via the balcony such that balcony door had to be kept closed) that I have experienced the dismissive nature of Head Office customer liaison. They are happy to hear the good things - but dismissive of problems or issues (and there was another potentially dangerous issue raised). I agree with the lax attitude with respect to the sad issue about transmission of illness by not ensuring safety of all when an infected person allowed to travel. The health issues I raised - with suggestions offered not just blind criticism - went unheard. I was offered $200 off next booking - but that is offered to all repeat travellers - and health cannot be bought off. I was unaware of the earlier class action till now - but it have there been any lessons learned? I loved the trip and the wonderful staff made it great - from the behind the scenes sailors to cabin crew, chefs, waiters, bar staff, cleaning staff....... It is they at grass roots level who lead and who make good the company’s reputation. Any higher up and it seems to fall away. Without their (grass roots staff) good will and friendly nature and good humour Scenic would be lost. I would love to travel again - but not until I am happy they at the very least show they listen and make an effort.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

There are much better options
We have traveled with Scenic several times and were happy to recommend them to our friends. However, we now know that when there is a problem customer service goes missing. We had to cancel a $50,000 trip due to unexpected health reasons and our travel insurance was inadequate. We contacted Scenic to see if we could receive some future benefit in respect of our circumstance and did not even receive the courtesy of a reply. We now use Bunnik and other suppliers who understand the real meaning of customer service.

Reading these reviews was a truly educational experience. If Scenic can't treat their own citizens with the 5-star experience promised, how could anyone outside of Australia trust this company? I read brochures promising all-inclusive luxury--meals, beverages, top-shelf liquor, room service--and I read reviews by people who essentially received Vegemite on dry crackers with powdered orange juice to wash it down, whilst having to pay extra for anything else. Stories of rude staff, illness spreading unchecked, and passengers not being compensated for terrible inconveniences have convinced me never to book a cruise or expedition with Scenic.

Not sure what tours you are doing. We were allowed 1 bottle of water per day on the tour. We were allowed one glass of water with meals. Given that we were advised not to even brush our teeth with anything but bottled water we had to restrict the allowance. There werent even many opportunities to buy water. We were on a 34 day tour (including Egypt) and I think there were about 4 meals in total where one drink was provided - the rest of the time we had to buy our own. If I could offer a suggestion it would be to ask Scenic lots of questions before you go especially in regard to the time spent in safari vehicles over rough roads - not talking about game drives - Im referring to the transfers from one location to another (12/13 hour days). I wish we had known about this prior to going - we are fairly active and it was hard work for us! Another thing to keep in mind - there was no opportunity for us to go shopping (personal items, deodorant, toothpaste etc) after day 3. We were told that it was unsafe to go to any shops (even a pharmacy) so if you couldnt find it in a way-side souvenier shop you went without - so pack supplies! Hope you have fun. Good luck :)
