22% increase

we have 5 policies with them for over 5 years, never had a claim, hit with 22% increase for one vehicle, and 23% increase for another this year. not good, not happy, getting quotes from other insurer.

I am more than frustrated, I am seething with the lack care and respect that these customer reps (c.r's) show. It does not matter who you are or where you live a rude arrogant person is that same world wide and in this case not in Australia. Just wanted my windscreen replaced and it didn't happen, yet, some one with SGIC in Aus just HELP!!!!!! .Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. The more bad reviews SGIC get the quicker they might get the message and fix the problems. Satisfaction level of ZERO. If this is not fixed all my insurance will be moved...

Good Car Insurance

I had an accident in 2016 that was my fault. SGIC really looked after me and repaired car to my complete satisfaction at their preferred repairer.
Customer support was excellent and policy value for money. Only one criticism, I want to list my partner as listed driver even though she infrequently drives the car, but no option for that and increases premium by about 10% if I list her.

Online claim was a breeze

I have been with SGIC for years and I was involved in a non-at-fault claim. IT was generally very easy to lodge the claim online (upload pics etc) and as my vehicle was written off I had the money in my account in about 2 weeks. However, this wasn't without hiccups, the staff members handling my claim did not even bother to look at the photos I uploaded including invoices of the baby seat which I claimed for as well as other personal items. Only when I told them about it they went back and checked and paid me the correct amount.

Poor Service

Having been insured with SGIC (home, contents,and motor vehicle)for MANY years with no claims, the time came to make a motor claim, when I was hit (not my fault)......what a hassle!!!! Offshore agents who were clearly unable to understand me (nor I them)...and then they wanted to impose a $500 excess on me.....when the accident was the other parties fault...Eventually, that was sorted after many phone calls.....Now I await, a refund for the hire car i needed while the repairs were done.... This company is very quick to TAKE your money, but when it comes to claiming, watch out!!! Cancelled all policies and transferred to RAA........local support and no offshore agents!!!

Every year you raise our premiums and every year i ring and negotiate a reduction. You try to screw returning customers. What a sad game you make us play.

Increasing Policy costs every year

They suck you in with competitive prices on their policy when you first sign up but then every year after they just keep increasing the cost of the policy. No claims made so there is no reason to increase it over $100 every year. Disappointed!

No ....customer support offshore is deplorable ! Rude ...arrogant ...patronising ...If you asked a question not on their script you just receive a repeat response of one of the other questions I had to follow up the other insurer as well ....I rate SGIC motor claim customer care support offshore as the WORST I have ever experienced. Taking my money for the policy I had good friendly advice and pleasant to deal with... not the same service when you have accident and you are not at fault.

What's worse than terrible? SGIC!

Blamed me for not linking my policies (when I have no access to their CRM), failed to provide a discount, set up direct debit incorrectly for 1 policy which caused it to cancel. Wouldn't re-set the policy at the same amount. I was promised a call back but didn't receive one.

Anything you could do? A call back would be a start. From there I’d suggest retraining your staff’s technical & soft skills. Then holding them accountable for doing what they commit to.

Competitive premiums but I haven't needed to claim yet!

We've been with SGIC for some years because the premiums are competitive. Recently arranged comprehensive insurance for a 'new' car and changed an old car from comp to 3rd party, fire and theft. It took an hour on the telephone! The telephone line was bad and the service person's headset was malfunctioning. Lots of background noise. Also she was having trouble with the computer system and repeatedly needed to enter information multiple times. I think some investment in better telephone and computer systems is needed.
Mind you, when I called other insurance companies for quotes (a few years ago) they were almost as bad.

Disgusting service after 18 years of loyalty and multiple policies. I have cancelled everything and insured elsewhere. Premiums increase every year by hundreds of dollars. Call centers offshore give you the run around.
Ring around you will find better policies elsewhere!

In terms of policy pricing, that was not my primary concern - although the value is very good for what I have cover for. I set my policies up years ago, both by phone and online. Both were very easy. The cover options are very clear, and well explained, and well worth the choosing. With the few times that I have had to seek assistance from their customer support team, whether it was through email or through their live-chat process, the process was explained in great detail, and the outcome was resolved very quickly.

the company does not support uber eats drivers for car insurance but it does cover you for uber witch in my opinion all insurance company's should cover all types of insurance its not that difficult to do so why make it so hard to get insurance

My sixteen [ almost seventeen ] year old is getting her first car. A Nissen Xtrail 2004 - automatic with sunroof. She has been quoted by RAA for third party/ property insurance - $550 a year with $1100 excess. I am wondering if you would be any cheaper. I am an existing SGIC customer - house/contents/car.
