Fantastic and Frienndly Service

The policy for my Permanent on site caravan was set up really quickly. The van is older than 30 years and other insurance companies wouldn't even continue the conversation once they heard this.

Have been with SGIC for over 7 years and never had to make a claim until now. My wife was hit from behind while stopped so not her fault. Once car was written off took off the reminder of the years policy off the pay out for the write off. Because we were 3 weeks in to a new policy this was $615. This action is not on my paperwork and was never discussed when I got my policy in person. So much for loyalty.

The policy was originally set up as an agreed value but on renewal the value of the car had depreciated 25% without my verbal consent and or without conversation. I believe all customers should be contacted to have that conversation re premium cover or not have the “agreed” value altered

No ‘technical difficulties’

I’m happy with the deal. Best price I could find. Call centre person was great. Very easy to talk with. However, I couldn’t complete my online order due to ‘technical difficulties’. This is their way of forcing people into the phone for an up-sell. I’m fine with that but it’s not technical difficulties. I believed it and thought I had an actual problem. It’s disappointing.

Given a quote number that didn’t work. Spoke to a customer service for over 30 mins, requested a call back, I did not get a call back later that day. It was unreliable and not a good experience.

Update information was simple process.
Abby from Customer Support displayed understanding and a level of expertise when renewing my policy and provided specific and detailed answers to my questions. Great service by Abby thank you.

Phone Contact

Given wrong information and had to make a Police report after being notified by Police.
Made several phone calls to give Police's information and gave up as the wait on each phone call was over 20 minutes. When contact was made, transfer to another person to assist the call dropped out so another call had to be made. One staff member stated my licence had expired which was not so. The phone service was either very good or dreadful.
However the car repair was excellent

I can't believe how comfortable I was made to feel over the phone when making my claim. I felt pleased with what would be happening to have repairs done and how quick it commenced. I would highly recommend SGIC anytime.

SGIC have tested my loyalty and my patience. I estimate that their premiums are 30% higher than market. The Service desk needs better training as representatives clearly do not understand their products.

yes we got we wnted and it was very good value. the customer service person was very helpfull when we explained what had happened when we thought a car policy was cancelled after it was sold

Great result but it took forever

Great Product. However had to ring the call centre four times and spent a total of two hours on the phone before I was properly assisted. Would be great to ring someone local who could understand Australian products (motorhomes)

Worst experience ever

Bullied me into accepting their preferred repairer for hail damage, insisted repairer fix my Mercedes bumper bar damage with filler which disintegrated after a year and put reconditioned door on husbands new 1 year old Mercedes and tried to hide it from us.

watch you premiums go up!

Every year I've been with them, they keep trying to hike their premiums up by about 20% and increase excesses. Should not have to ring them and then only get down to about 11%. No claims but they keep whacking me. Shop elsewhere. That is what I am going to do.

After a disappointing claim result I found out that they were more expensive than the others. The claim experience was terrible. Took no care. Made me feel terrible. Rude customer service .

My sixteen [ almost seventeen ] year old is getting her first car. A Nissen Xtrail 2004 - automatic with sunroof. She has been quoted by RAA for third party/ property insurance - $550 a year with $1100 excess. I am wondering if you would be any cheaper. I am an existing SGIC customer - house/contents/car.
