Hi Carol. If you don't want milk in your coffee, just use the espresso function. Press it once for a single shot, twice for a double shot, or hold the button down to customize the quantity of water to your preference. The maximum amount of water is 150ml. This is all on page 12 of the instruction booklet.

Hi, I have had the Sunbeam EM5000 for two years now and have used it constantly. Recently when attempting to make a cappuccino very little milk is coming out into the cup despite the dispenser having plenty of milk in it. I clean the metal tube and the plastic tube regularly but am wondering if the inside of the machine is blocked. It is pretty much unusable at the moment. Is there any way of cleaning the inside? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks, david

I have only used this machine for a week, and the frothing was the excellent at first but now it is looking thick and clumpy like curdled milk. Any suggestions as to how to fix this? I am based in New Zealand.

Hi Divya, have you cleaned out the container in which the milk is held, because that will happen and it will smell if you don't clean it out, plus if you leave it out for extened periods of time that will also happoen, so I would get into the habit of cleaning the container out at least oce a week

Sunbeam
Customer C.Sunbeam

Hi Divya,
I think beth m may be right. If there is any milk left over in the container, the curdling will happen.

Hi guys. Thanks for answering my question. A friend of mine who know more about coffee than me says the milk is split, not curdled. I have cleaned the machine multiple times and it still doesn't seem to stop the splitting. Any thoughts on how to stop the milk from spliting. Essentially, the protein part separates from the liquid milk. Thanks in advance

Hi :) I got this coffee machine as a gift I absolutely love it :D I use the bigger filter with my ground coffee as I like a stronger coffee, I just have one question though ? Do you only get one coffee out of a filter ? It seems to be wasteful removing all that left over coffee, every time you make another ? I wasn’t sure if it will continue to make more then one coffee before throwin the excess away ? Is this right ?

2 answers

beth m

Hi allanna you will get 2 cups out of the big filter, but only if you brew2 at the same time, you cannot reuse the coffee

Sunbeam
Customer C.Sunbeam

Hi Allanna. As Beth advised, you cannot reuse the coffee cake. If you use the coffee cake a second time, you will get a really weak and watery cup of coffee as the majority of the oils would have been extracted during the first pour.

Hi, just bought the coffee machine and wondering how do I make a long black please, and a mockachino as well?

1 answer
Sunbeam
Customer C.Sunbeam

Hi Jenny. Please go to page 12 in the instruction booklet for details on a long black. Simply use the manual espresso function - hold the espresso function for 3 seconds and water will continue to flow through the group head until you press the espresso function again to stop the pour. It will automatically stop after 150ml.

There is no Mochaccino function on the machine. However, a mochaccino is simply a cappuccino with added chocolate. Although I have never tried it, it may be worth putting your desired amount of drinking chocolate in the bottom of your mug and then using the cappuccino function.

Hi Arielito, as this is an automatic unit the volume of the pours can't be adjusted and there is no smaller basket than the current one shot.

Hi sarah, it does seem to be very frothy, but I always turn the dial to the far left, and I keep it there, so as much as you possibly can to the left it's all good then

It’s still frothy with the dial all the way to the left. Presumably it’s not able to produce a flat white?

On the Sunbeam Café Barista EM 5000 the steam tubes are removable and easy to clean - The problem is the steam is not coming out of the body of the machine into the plastic milk frothing container - I thought Sunbeam would advise??

Usually flashes when heating up. Takes a long time to heat up and should then be solid lights ready to extract.

Sunbeam
Customer C.Sunbeam

Hi Steve. As advised by Mary and Bushbaby, the lights will flash while the machine is coming to temperature. This should stop once the thermoblock reaches the correct temp.
