Hi Suzanne,
Thank you for contacting Sunbeam. Our mix masters do heat up after a few minutes in use however - it shouldn't be too hot after only 5 minutes. If purchased within the last 12 months and you have your receipt please return it to the store of purchase for a replacement. If you do not have your receipt, please call us on 1300 881 861. I'm sorry Gabrielle, I suggest you contact Sunbeam and let them know or take it back to the retailer. I didn't have much success with their mixers.
