My TCL tv was working perfectly well until about 1 week ago. Presumably after a recent software update. Screen just goes black randomly. Backlight is fine. Sound is fine. Just the video goes off. Thinking it might be software, I did a factory reset.

i thought the factory reset did work well at first but I was wrong. But I think I have found the trigger. The trigger that brings about the video going black is in certain strobe scene, a bright camera flash scene, a a fire scene, etc. Basically I think scenes with quick bright flash seem to trigger the video to go black. I am able to trigger this Everytime I replay the videos on the exact scene.

They happen on the tv function and also on the android apps like Netflix, etc. If I just stay in the android homepage and browse and no strobe scene happens, nothing happens to the video.

It seems like certain scenes/colours/things in video is causing the software to shut the video down.



Does anyone also get the same problem or am I going crazy?

I have just got myself a new tcl 75 inch smart tv but am very upset with the screen which has displayed in the top left corner an add for 10play and a red rectangle followed by freebies + and a green triangle witch takes up one tenth of my screen through all movies and tv. I need to get rid of it .Cheers.

I've had problems with everything. Worst of all is the after sales service. TCL just don't care.

We have had the technician 4 times plus software updates and still TCL will not replace the tv they want the technician to take it away and run further tests and JB HiFi won’t collect it until stage 4 is over.

I purchased TCL (75C4US) August 2018, and was working fine until last week (May 2020) when it started blacking out with sound going... each time had to only restart with power off. Tried following steps to fix myself and with TCL contact center technician:
1. Removed all devices connected with Coaxial, USB and/or USB
2. Updated the software.
3. Reset to factory settings.
Nothing fixed the problem. TCL will arrange technician to visit and inspect in 24/48 hrs.

Contact TCL and they'll send out a technician to replace a part that is a known problem in all TCL and Sony 75inch TVs. Had mine fixed and have had no problems since.

Our tv is only 4months old an we are ramdonly getting a black screen while watching but the audio is still fine.

I had the same issue. Ring TCL support and log a warranty claim.
They will arrange for a service technician to come out and replace the T-com board.

Is it black but you can still hear sound? If so I had the same problem, TVs only 3 months old...
thankfully tcl approved a store credit for the purchase price.

Mine did this in less than 24 hrs after setting up. Store classed it as DOA and replaced it. Now the new one has system and app dramas. Pieces of crap IMO

Hi, any one had problems with on a dark movie scene light waves in the background of the picture is there any way to stop this or do I need to return the TV? thanks rob

i see that the selection is there for netflixs, but i dont have a subscription for the service so i cant advise if it is works

Yes, the TCL tv that i had did have the Netflix and it worked
