I don't think it's new. Get some picture about the icy wet area. You have 14 days to refund as the store manager told me about my microwave. Most of the big retailer replace or refund if the product get faulty under warranty period that happened to me and my relatives but the good guys give repair warranty and get a signature from buyer on invoice at the time of sale. I am not sure but I think that's the way they buy products cheaper than others from manufacturer because of the warranty issue (like online product). You can also read the Australian consumer law that's related to your issue then it may help you. Good luck with your Cooler.

Bought a microwave at Good Guys Hervey Bay and was told by assistant that I was have a week to use the bonus offered by them for purchasing an extended warranty. That was not the case I was only given 3days notice and when I went to store to use money they would not honour the deal. Can you help with this situation.?

it seems a standard selling method and from the numerous other complaints about Good Guys in a similar capacity, shows that this is part of their selling strategy. They are fooling the public with the "impressions" they give and then worming their way out of meeting the obligations. When you consider that there are 100's of sales like this a day, they are making literally hundreds of thousands by fooling the consumer in tricky and cunning way. That there is their strategy, as there is no way that large companies like this make "honest mistakes".

We bought a Sony tv 7months ago and had a few issues with it but didn't take it back,Then yesterday the picture went totally on some channel;s and fuzzy on the odd few that worked.Took it back to the Good Guys with receipt and box and paperwork today and they said we couldn't have our money back .They would send it away to be assessed. It could take a few weeks and tough luck that we have no tv now till they decide if it is broke or not.Is this Australian consumer law. They have sold an item not fit for its purpose. The tv is broke we have the receipt and it is still under warranty.I want my money back then the family doesn't have to go without tv viewing. What are my rights? This is The Good Guys Capalaba.I will never buy another thing from them and will also be telling everyone I know not to also

From my knowledge it is up to the manufacturer to fix the fault of the tv. I know for Samsung you don't deal with the person you bought it from, you call the customer service of the tv manufacturer. They probably will send someone out and look at the tv and either fix it there or get a replacement part at the warehouse or order one. By taking it to TGG they deal with the manufacturer and let you know the outcome. Either replace the tv or fix it. Manufacturer warranty mean replace parts for free and free service. I don't think it means my tv is faulty give me a new one and I give you the broken one.

That completely sucks! Firstly I'd go back to The Good Guys and ask for a replacement TV, stating that its "not fit for purpose" (it's a good brand and shouldn't be breaking so early). If they refuse, tell them you're taking this issue to Consumer Affairs. Consumer Affairs are great at sorting out this stuff, obviously in your benefit not the store. Also, continue to tell everyone how bad Good Guys are!! Good luck.

Thankyou both of you.If i buy anything now it will be at Costco who do honour any product fault with or without receipt and with or without warranty. When you are paying 1000s for electronics you expect them to last longer than 6 months. This tv now broken will always be a problem and end up faulty .I want and expect my money back otherwise the guarantee isnt worth the paper its written on.Australia are you wondering why more and more people are buying abroad. Its not always about price .Its about customer service and guarantees..Congratulations i wont be buying from any Australian company again

Generally speaking if the item is still in relatively new and clean original condition (except for fair wear and tear), has all its identifying labels intact, no scratches dents, or any other signs of damage (which might indicate the product could have been tampered with in some way by someone other than yourself, dropped as a result of an accident, etc.), there are no parts missing (such as panels or cables) you are entitled by consumer law to take it back within a reasonable time frame for exchange (this period varies depending on the store's returns policy but they must abide by the law also), as long as you provide proof of purchase and/or warranty information (if required) pertaining to the item you should be fine. Just briefly explain the problem to them to the best of your knowledge using simple terms (so that they understand clearly and are in a better position to resolve the issue for you more quickly).

I hope you did if you were not happy. You have a 14 day change of mind from that particular store. After That time I am sorry to say u don't really have grounds.. Some stores it is 7 days but the good guys it is 14

Amaresh
Amaresh

yes. it is not doing what you expected it to be doing. You can return it for a full refund, exchange or credit. but sadly TGG will find a way to trick you out of this and make you live with your misery.. and go on calling themselves: The Good Guys

Have just paid a deposit on a $900 fridge, Is the Good Guys concierge service worth the extra $$$'s?

I am so happy with the products that I purchased, although, to answer your question it was not an option for me as I was 'strapped for cash' and because my husband needed the products as he was dying, I bought them as cheaply as I could and I am glad I did as they made his last months more comfortable. The concierge service does seem to help in the event that something does go wrong, luckily for me it did not. Maybe someone who has used this service and made a claim would be better able to answer your question. Sylvia

I've not used this concierge service before but have just read up about what they offer and it seems worth the money, however I think it's a personal choice. I never take out extended warranties either as I believe if something is going to go wrong, it will happen in the first year when it's still under the manufacturer warranty I've been lucky that I've never had a problem with anything purchased from The Good Guys.

I was happy with the product and the service from The Good Guys. I didn't sign up for any extended warranty. I was impressed by the integrity of the people I dealt with.

Hi Granny,

I only just submitted my positive review for the good guys (Alexandria Sydney store). I'm from the Coast but I've never be to a Good Guys store except for this first time. I've heard heaps of bad experiences about them but decided to try them out on a simple purchase. It comes down to pot luck as they are just humans doing a job so each store will have good, average and bad experiences. They could be called the groovy guys, the git guys the name doesn't matter it just comes down to pot luck.
