Those delamination issues are a worry. It would be easy to hit over 70 degrees in the sun or on a closed up car in summer. Especially in the tropics or ozzy. So its the air inside pressurizing the deck. Why not add a simple pressure release valve in the boards. Problem solved!

Hi Frans, Thanks for your enquiry. So you are aware, pressure valves do not prevent delamination, as this is a side effect of the foam core literally melting. Boards that have a valve installed (such as a goretex valve) can still delaminate and either contract like a raisin as the air releases from the valve or if exposed to higher temperatures expand as the valve can only release a certain amount of air per minute (in cases where boards are left in cars this is typically the case). We run valves in all boards above 9ft but this is not to prevent heat damage.

Why do you make up and write all of your five star reviews? Is it to drown out the real one star reviews?
You can tell they are all written by the same person by the style of the language used.

Hi Tim, We have mixed reviews on multiple platforms but overall have rankings in the 4+ stars. So you are aware our operating system sends out review requests for varying platforms to our customers on a daily basis and we have the opportunity to select which platform we want to focus our reviews on. More often than not our focus is on our own website directly.

Other than that, we do not influence reviews in any way shape or form and don't have the ability too. If you look into Product Reviews review system they have created very strict guidelines where they request receipts to validate review authenticity among other things.

I think you will find with any company of our size, they will have mixed reviews on both sides. You get the 1 star reviews were people are not happy with their product from damage caused in a wipe out or what not, 5 star from repeat customers and the rest mostly in the middle depending on their experience with our customer service staff. We take our customers seriously and aim to give the best service the surf industry has ever seen and it pays dividends. If you can name a surf shop that will answer a call any day of the week between 7am and 7pm I'd like to hear about it as I think we stand apart from the rest.

I will finish by simply stating that, like your question, some peoples intentions on review platforms is merely to tarnish a brand and we wish those people all the luck in the world as negativity will get you know where in life. We have thousands of reviews over the internet, both good and bad and we are not in the least bit worried about a handful of unhappy customers when we serve over 30,000 happy customers yearly.

I hope this has given you some clarity and wish you all the best with your reviewing on Product Review.
Cheers

Well said John, there always those who are looking for any opportunity to bag anyone who is successful. To be honest it is hard to find any reviews direct from customers for any boards anywhere. It is great to see positive reviews from a variety of customers on a wide variety of boards. Most brands have professional reviewer and it does seem that all reviews on all boards in those reviews are positive so it does make it hard to choose the right board. I have found your staff very knowledgeable and helpful and the board range you have is big enough to satisfy any surfer. Just my opinion but I will be shopping at your store in Auckland, NZ.

Cheers Chris and thanks for adding your commentary, its greatly appreciated.

We were super excited to launch our Auckland store (its our biggest store yet!) so well worth a visit. If you need anything in the future or a hand with board choices reach out to the guys and girls there of feel free to private message on the platform as I would be more than happy to assist.

Have a great weekend mate!

I'm looking for a short soft board. I've snapped 5 foam boards in the last year and I want a board that is durable and won't snap if I charge closeout shore breaks. What foam board do you recommend, please?

The Surfboard Warehouse
John M.The Surfboard Warehouse

Hey Gwynne, Surfing close outs is always going to be a little problematic especially with foam boards that aren't reinforced with any fiberglass. We currently have a few prototype boards we are working on that are fiberglass shortboards and funboards where they are then wrapped in an EVA foam skin to offer a more durable product than a standard softboard but still maintaining the safety aspect. At present I do not have a definitive date for release but if you are willing to hold out a few months you can sign up to our newsletter and they will send out a "new release" email for new models, so you will know as soon as they have dropped.

Hi, we’re two backpackers looking for some surfboards for beginners. I’m 164cm tall and about 50kg’s, Nathan is 183cm tall and about 75kg’s. We’re staying in Port Lincoln. What boards should we get and how much will it cost us to ship them to Port Lincoln? Thank you guys for your help, cheers, Sarah and Nathan

Hi Sarah and Nathan,

I would look at starting on a Mini Mal, as the board will be nice and wide and super stable, long enough to make paddling easy and can be used in a variety of surf conditions. A Mini Mal is a very versatile shape, super forgiving and will help you both progress quickly. I would suggest a 7ft or 7'2 for Sarah and a 7'6 for Nathan based on your weight and heights.

If you are looking to travel around Australia and will be transporting your board a lot, I would suggest purchasing a Polyurethane (PU) board, as they are less susceptible to damage whilst travelling (heat, easier to repair on the go etc etc). The AQSS Devocean is an awesome beginner model in PU, it has a 2+1 fin setup which will allow you to modify the fin configuration to accommodate for your style and skill level, I don't think you can really go wrong with this board model.

If you have any other questions, feel free to send us a message on this platform, facebook, email, webchat or give us a call and we can give you more in-depth advice over the phone.

Hey The Surfboard Warehouse, are you planning on opening an stores further south? I have a heap of family and friends from the central coast and Sydney area which would be stoked to have a store near them? What are the chances of seeing a store down there?

Hi Jason. At this stage we have 6 store locations and are not looking to open any other outlets at present (but you never know). We do ship Australia wide and have a very fast turnaround to central coast and Sydney if your friends or family are interested.

Feel free to pass on our details and we would be happy to look at freight prices to your families locations and give you/them estimations on transit times. If we can be of any further assistance please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Have a great day!

Looking for reviews or experience on the Bam Bam SUP, preferably someone who has ridden the smaller 6'10 size. I know its a gamble trying unusual shapes and it is a pretty unusual board but looks like a lot of fun and I would like some form of validation before throwing $800 at it. Any one on here ridden it?

Hi Craig, Thank you for reaching out over Product Review. I have the following link which contains reviews on the Bam Bam Sup and may be of interest to you.
Hundreds of SUP reviews can be found here:
https://www.thesurfboardwarehouse.com.au/stand-up-paddle-review/

In relation to how it surfs. Personally, I find the Bam Bam to be extremely loose and skatey and "wants to turn". Although it is a wide board (and therefore stable), the board is very maneuverable. The only downside to the smaller shapes like the Bam Bam is the fact that they "snake" more through the water and do not glide along the surface like the larger boards. As you can imagine, every board has its pros and cons.

If you need any other information feel free to contact us through all the normal channels.

Hey Sean, If you are looking for product reviews on any of our products you may find the following links helpful:

Here you will find thousands of reviews on our products (both good and bad) from our customer database. Iv had 2 5.6 dark horse boards now on my 2nd delta 5.8 so you could say I’m pretty familiar with both.. firstly the dark horse this board is super fun in all conditions but excels when there is a bit of chop on the face.Has a nice release point but can be a little loose when surfing long Hollow waves eg snapper 2-4 ft of shore low tide stuff, changing fins may help this tho.

The delta (same fins - fcs3 pcc) I’m really enjoying the 2018 version, this board has a silky rail feel, fast in transition always feel in control where the dark horse can feel a bit skitty

I’m surfing snapper virtually every day with the odd dbah and back beach tweed

I’m 175cm @ 75kg

I have thought about fair trade, it's just not fair they are choosing to sell such products.
Have you lookdd into it since you sent thsi message?

Yes, took these guys to Fair Trading for an Evoke 7'11 Sup. Fair Trading encouraged me take them to tribuneral based on their ridiculous warranty conditions and the product not being fit for its intended use i.e. In the sun. TSBW were unwilling to negotiate or look after me as their customer. The judges final ruling was my SUP had to be inspected by TSWB's surfboard technician who also happens to be an owner. I didnt want my board cut open and have to waste more money on covering the cost of the repairs if it wasnt defected. Very interested to see if anyone has had a positive outcome at court because I am very disappointed with the product I brought.

Nicknock
Nicknock

We though about this as well . TSBW are inconsistent . Same issue as with Sam J board fell apart and we were given the run around. To take on through fair trading takes a lot of time and effort. Best and most effective is just let all of your friends know and vote with your feet. Stay well clear bad products and poor customer relations. Ultimately they will come undone . Buyers beware
