The ever so crowded SUV market, so which is the right car? Best to test drive and your heart will tell you. Cars tested: Mitsubishi Outlander RX (125KW), Toyota Rav4 CV (125KW), Toyora Rav4 ZR6 (201KW), Subaru Forrester X (126KW), Honda CRV (125KW), Hyundai ix35 Elite Diesel Turbo (135KW). Did not drive CX7, no sales person care to provide customer service. Petrol guzzler so I read, 14 to 15L/100km.
Ranking:
5 - Outlander, did too much research, the drive turned out to be very disappointing, the car struggle to accelerate, 125kw is unde...Read more

Perfect Family Car, 100% happy!
I don't have a bad word to say about our 2008 Rav 4 CV,it is fuel efficient and a comfortable ride in the city and rural roads. It has a large boot area plenty of room for a large Pram and lots of groceries, which is a must for parents with small children. We got our Rav4 fully optioned with all side curtain air bags etc, the car also has a four star ANCAP rating and preformed well in all areas of crsh testing. We have always had a our car serviced regularly and it has never missed a beat very reliable. In winter we take our car up to the snow ...Read more
and it travels and rides well in the snow with chains on. There is plenty of room in the back seats for our three small children, and more importantly there car seats. We currently have three seats installed a Convertible Booster,a birth to four and a Capsule for our newborn with adequate room between each. We love our Rav4. Great on fuel, comfortable ride, reliable, 4 star ANCAP rating, All air bags and not an over priced car like most small SUV's. The only thing we have upgraded is the CD player.1 comment

Rav4 CV
Our 2nd Rav4 just like the last one has been a great reliable car. The 2011 has much more room than our old 2005 model. Never had a problem with the cars. Only thing I have noticed it has never been under 11L/100k's. We use to run premium fuel makes no difference to economy so now just run E10. We have a local mechanic service our vehicles, heard too many bad stories about Toyota servicing them. Remember the 17 year old apprentice does the basic servicing at dealerships but some how they manage to stuff up (my dad took his rav4 back 4 times after one dealership service)
Roomy, reliable,
Small fuel tank and a little thirsty compared to what Toyota claims

I absolutely love my RAV 4 Cruiser. I bought the 2006 new design release in July 2007 brand new. Was going to buy a Nissan X-Trail and parked in front of the Toyota dealer next door and saw it on the lot, we had not looked at the RAV's when deciding on a new car as we had previously looked at a RAV several years earlier and did not like them. The new model is nothing like the old model, so different that they should have called it something else. It drives great, has good fuel economy (especially on open road). Has enough get up and go to ...Read more
keep you happy. Storage is amazing with tons of storage bays under the boot (great for keeping things from sliding around or out of sight). Heaps of boot space and back seats fold down with a simple flick of a lever in boot area. Stereo system is good (esp in dash 6 cd stacker). Overall, great car, soooo glad we parked where we did that day. Great car, drives well on all types of roads (local, motorway, dirt roads), very comfortable, great storage features, solid mid size 4WD, much better than old RAV4 model. Dash marks easily, bit squishy in back seat with 3 adults or child car seat and 2 adults.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great car, i am 6"2 and i can sit in the back easly. But i hate the FM reception.
I got the 2007 RAV4 cruiser L and its a great car.I had a subaru 2005 liberty premium before and the rav's better. Its quiter bigger and built better.
Itseems to like fuel, FM radio reception is not good when your moving, they put bridgstone tyres on it,They dont put a lock on the back wheel and they get stolen and i was told this by Toyota. The roof antena is in the way if you carry things on the roof and if you want to use the roof rails you need to spend $200+ for the roof bars.

Great mid-size 4WD. Good balance of road handling, fuel economy and 4WD capability. We're pleased with our RAV4 choice for young family of 5 wishing to do some 4WDing. The middle rear seat and belt looks uncomfortable, but 11yo and adults who have tried have found it comfortable - an example of the good design that is prevalent throughout this vehicle. Well done Toyota.
Looks good, plenty of space, good economy for a 4WD. With family of 5 on Fraser Island for 5 days it handled soft sand and tracks with ease. Plenty of power to pull out of...Read more

While I have always regarded Toyota as having a higher than average build quality and reliability, I have been disappointed with this model. It has been in the dealership for more than a month waiting on a new steering column which is the source of a slight clunking noise in the front end that developed around 38-40000km mark. The original diagnosis was the electric solenoid controlled power steering. A month is too long to wait for parts. $1000 bucks in lease payments and fixed operating cost for the month is too much to be out of pocket and d...Read more
riving an '85 Camry courtesy car. I am thinking twice about upgrading to the V6 at the end of this lease. Might as well look at a Hyundai for this performance. 2006 RAV4 Cruiser - more power, more space, nice to drive in the 5 speed. Tow a heavily loaded box trailer comfortably Plastic interior finish is a bit cheaper than the previous model - marks easily all around the console.Similar opinion? What a snazzy car! Wouldnt replace it even if I won the lotto. The new revamped model is much larger than the old ravs, plenty more backseat room and bootspace. Back seat can also slide forward and back (like a front seat). In USA it is a 7 seater (with V6 engine though)and the Auz model has the provision for 2 extra seats to be fitted too. Previous reviewer noted spare wheel doesnt lock, but this cannot be opened unless the back door is open.. therefore if the car is locked, its locked... A fantastic family car. Mine is one year old have d...Read more

2007 Rav4 cv, have had nudge bar and side steps fitted. Fuel between 13.6 - 14.9 lts/100 kms. Dealership unhelpful. Had Toyota's and still got a SR5 Hulix and will be hard to sell me another one
Drives like a car. Comfortable & spacious
Fuel consumption heavy.

Great job Toyota, better quality than any rivals. just love and would recommend to anyone, especially those with children. It's a great height for putting kids in and out of car seats(saving your back!) When they start to grow the back seat has horizontal and vertical adjustments! The storage compartment in the back are very handy (I keep our sunhats, picnic rugs, umbrellas even a childs potty in mine). Very well thought of vehicle

Great car. We are very happy with it. Prior to purchase we test drove the Holden Captiva and the Mitsubishi Outlander. The RAV suited us better!
Great driving position and plenty of power for a four cylinder. We're also pleased with the fuel consumption. There is plenty of legroom- front, back- everywhere!
Parking in the supermarket car park- we don't want our RAV bashed by a careless person's door!Suffers from the same problem as the other 4WDs- body roll in the bends.

I moved away from Toyota for a fair few years and wouldn't take a look at them, but this has brought me back! Very happy with it, other small 4wds didn't compare!
Just bought a 2008 Cruiser - fab ride, great for our small towing needs, drives well, super comfy and sooooo much space.
It's all great!

The RAV4 ZR6 is unique as it drives and feels like a large sedan; is extremely quick; sits tall like a 4WD and is very spacious. It travels like a true touring vehicle on the open road. I have owned one since they were introduced Oct 07 and use it extensively around the City as well as open roads.
Speed, space & height
perhaps the seats - nice if they were softer and wrapped around the body more.

The RAV SX6 is the best car I have owned by far. It handles the road beautifully, is spacious, and there is plenty of space in the front and back seats and is easy to park. I love that the back seats recline slightly. This is particularly great when you have toddlers in booster sets. When traveling long distances you can recline the set slightly and their heads don't drop forward when they sleep. I've also found that the RAV SX6 has great fuel economy around town and on the open road. Mine has only driven 14000 km's and I am getting aroun...Read more
d 10.2 litres per 100kms. Love the power of the SX6 in particular when you are going up hills. It maintains speed and when overtaking it has enough grunt to easily pass.It is a comfortable drive with great space. There is a bit of road noise, in particular when sitting in the back, however, I've found this typical in most AWD and 4WD.The fuel tank is a little small, although it has good fuel economy.Similar opinion? I've always driven a sedan and had said that I would never purchase a 4 X 4 . After owning a RAV4 however I take that back. It's so easy to drive it doesn't seem like you're driving a 4 X 4. It looks great, its the perfect size, heaps of room inside. Everything I ever wanted in a car.
Great looking car, easy to drive, reasonably economical, spacious
Not much I don't like really. When on the freeway if one window is opened up to half way the noise created inside the car is unbearable until you balance by opening another window or closing them all.

After years roughing it with a Hyundai - that always felt dirty and unsporty - and a Delica, which we bought for long Outback drives, I took advice from friends. Everyone told me that Toyotas are 'safe' in terms of maintenance, they are easy to fix in Australia, and rarely go wrong. My Rav 4 is a case in point. No trouble, cheap to service. Just brilliant. I've driven it through Outback NSW, also off road on 4WD tracks, no trouble. Should have bought one years ago.
Easy to drive, great all-rounder, great for family days out, long distance work trips, holidays.
Nothing. Wish I'd bought one years ago.

Good value, good second hand value. This is my third RAV4. No mechanical problem. Roomy storage space and the second row. Vision in the front is good. A good range of colour to choose from. I have chosen the Pearl White. The paint is of good quality. This model is good because the spare wheel has a lock. Consumes more fuel than my older Corolla. Low service cost. No problem with the air conditioning. Interior is stylish.
Everything about the car. The design. The current model is very cute looking.
Nothing. I have lost my antenna becuase people can take it away.

This is my second Rav4. Regret getting Pearl White after having Silver. Have snapped aerial off twice as its too high for the garage door. I have the top of range model, leather is easy to keep clean, have reverse sensors, they are great, sat nav also the best thing. Although live in warm climate, going down south is great use for seat warmers. Great car for growing family, lots of room in back seats and boot. Cannot fault this vehicle for performance, value and reasons stated.
Style Reliable Easy to drive.Roomy
Radio antenna should fold down like the Honda crv

My parents own this car, I think in the rav 4 in 2008 (black colour), the largest car you can get in the rav 4 range. This car is perfect for a family of 4-5 people, great for travelling long distance. This car feels very safe to drive in, probably because of the fact it is a very big car. A very luxury car with leather seats. Then again, my parents got extras and got the best car in the rav 4 range.
Suitable for a family car, long distance driving, luxury car, big, spacious, feel safe to drive in. Not as fuel efficient compared to toyota echo/...Read more

hey there, we are looking at a Rav4 2008 for our little family too. Does the car seat fit ok in the middle? as the third seat is quite small and around what price did you pay for yours? thanks!
