Technically OK, Commercially horrible
I have used Trend Micro for several years. I have never had problems with malware in that time and it seems to do a decent job. It is a bit memory-hungry for the first few minutes after start-up, but that's understandable. I get sent product updates now and again, it installs them itself - no drama. The product gives me a report each month. I was able to install the product on my wife's PC - under the same licence - without any problems. So technically, it's fine.

Then there is DIGITAL RIVER IRELAND. Trend Micro uses this outfit for payments and invoicing. A couple of weeks ago two "pending" payments appeared on my MasterCard, for these people. I chased them up and had a long and fruitless email exchange, before the two payments disappeared as mysteriously as they had appeared. For this reason alone, I won't be renewing my subscription. From now on, I'll use Windows Defender and Malwarebytes

Misled
Purchased protection for 2 devices. Tried to install the program on to my daughters laptop. Kept coming up with an error. Spoke to technical support and was not able to use Trend unless I also purchased Sierra Malware protection for a considerable fee. Turns out this was a scam. Never thought I would fall for one but the number that came up on my screen actually seemed legit. There was also a woman that I was chatting with online from what I thought was the correct website. Thankfully was able to speak with a real technician from Trend who was brilliant and not only installed everything correctly but reversed the problems the scammers had installed on our laptops.

Got scamed by someone who I thought was from this company
Just like someone else's review I googled the name instead of going to the proper web site. A guy called me straight away saying he needed to continue to get in my computer to fix it at a cost of 199 when he asked for my credit card details I wouldn't give it to him it just didn't sound right he hung up very rudely. Renewal spam driving me crazy
I got this product for free when someone gave me an unused license. It has been on my PC for nearly a year and it seems OK, but the relentless daily months worth of spam telling me to renew is so annoying that I will be uninstalling this product the moment it expires and installing a competitor.

I bought a surface pro 6 from JB hi-fi. The salesman tried and succeeded to sell me trend security for 200 bucks.
I got home and unboxed my new tablet.
Went to install the security and got told I need to pay another 200 bucks to install it.
Haha.
No chance, and going back to JB hi-fi tomorrow and telling them they can shove the security up their butt.
And I am not taking no for an answer.
Disappointed that a company as big as JB hi-fi allows this to happen.

I have been using the product for a few years but the renewal process is driving me mad.
Months out from expiry, each licence gets incesant reminders to renew. Each year I find cheaper local retail specials (even with added Trend Micro Cashback offers) and each year I struggle with Trend Micro support to adjust the new licence date to the old licence expiry date.
Trend Micro support told me to buy local specials if I was not happy with their online “attempts to fleece me” (my interpretation)
Trend Micro would earn a lot of brownie points if they stopped their price gouging of existing customers and introduced a seamless renewal process with a suitable loyalty discount.

Not Happy
Store salesman sold us the trend product that was in excess of our needs. Requested a return & credit. After 4 weeks of emailing back and fourth, finally advised my claim has been approved but will take another 28 days to refund via EFT.

Big con ... avoid at all costs
Purchased Trent micro maximum security from Harvey Norman with a new laptop.
Took me hrs to install to laptop then another 6 hrs trying to install to my iPhone without success..
tried every instruction even contacted chat support without success .. says the app to install is not compatible in my country ..tried the QR scanning code which wouldnt work either .. every link says the same .. its useless load of crap!! Really sick of their pop ups about renewing
I bought a 5 computer subscription, My subscription expires in just under 3 months, for the last 2 weeks, every day I get a pop up message on every computer telling me to renew and giving offers. Although I am happy with the product I will not renew as am totally sick of these messages. Trend let me use my computer in peace!!!
I sent this through to Trend privately and was told the issue has been resolved, this is not the case. I purchased there software once, I do not expect 3 months of my 1 years subscription being them trying to sell me another year.

Trend are no longer any good..
Always had Trend with no problems...Renewed online and what a pain...First it wouldn't load so i contacted the so called "HELP DESK " Got some overseas useless goose that said i had a heap of viruses.. Said to him isn't that what Trend is suppose to stop ? Then he got all combative and said it was worse than viruses it was a problem with my network ? So i said so there is no point in even having Trend on here because it lets this stuff happen.. My computer tech came around and just laughed when i told him they wanted to charge me $299 and they would fix the problem..I have been conned badly i think..Paid $40 to renew my subscription and had to dump it..Great, more wasted money..

Do not purchase - misleading and fraudulent practices
I have been a long term customer of Trend Micro and went to renew my subscription for another 2 years and purchased the Home Network Security device as an addition. After it being delivered i quickly found out that the required App from the Apple App store doesn't actually exist for iOS devices yet it is 100% required and is advertised as working on their website. After a third phone conversation it became very clear that Trend Micro was very well aware that the App didn't exist and explained to me that they had been working on a solution however at that stage their was no anticipated date for the fix. Even though they were aware of the misleading and fraudulent nature of the business they continued to advertise and sell the product to their customers. I then went and submitted a review explaining all of these facts to warn other potential customers to find out that Trend actually reviews them first and decides whether to post them on their website... They sent me an email stating that they wouldn't post the review because it may affect their business!! So they are once again misleading customers and only showing positive reviews - how many other negative reviews have they received. I requested a refund on the $512 they owed me and although they agreed to pay it back i have called them on five separate occasions and am yet to receive my refund. I have already got and purchased a different product because i absolutely refuse to ever use this company again. I reported them to both the ACCC and NT Consumer Affairs and am currently having a chargeback on the transactions through the bank, forcing them into taking action. After providing additional details to Trend and still wanting my money back i get a generic email stating my case has been closed...!! Tend Micro you should be ashamed of yourself, learn some decent customer service skills and treat brand loyalty with the respect it deserves. What Shocker don’t get conned
Purchased a new computer today and was given this Trend Micro product never heard of them, but thought all should be good as it came from reputable store, I could not have been more wrong. Attempted to download from the site as per instructions. Entered my contact details and mobile number and the activation code for the product.

Poor customer service - overseas
purchased one of their security products. was not as easy to setup and sync with the license. chat support never gets connected and their phone support is overseas, thus non-operational during AU day. email support took 3 days, by then i figured using non-trendmicro forums. advertised apps are unavailable and there is no ETA from support team

Trend Micro Maximum Security is a must have to protect you from harmful Viruses, Trojans and the like.... but a word of warning. You will never be protected 100% by any security suite. This company offers a cashback when buying their product, but make it very difficult in New Zealand to actually receive one. Very poor.

OK product, terrible Support staff
I had an issue with Password Manager's login in box continually popping up (PC install) on all web sites I had included in the Manager even if I did not want to log in to them at that time, close it and it would re-appear in 5 seconds. I submitted logs etc as requested by Support and in the end Support said it was an issue with the web sites which is rubbish.
Cold and impersonal service, one way communication with zero feedback, bordering on being quite rude. I rarely complain about service or products but these Trend Micro Support people need a lesson in communication.

Problems getting cash back
I purchased a trend renewal security for my computer with a $50.00 cash back every time I fill in the form they say wrong code or different problems I am filling in the form correctly with the right answers and it’s very frustrating.
I have been contacted by trend and have been assured that the cash back will be credited to my account within 28days. So hopefully matter resolved.

Turned our laptops into turtles.
Startup, operating and access to the internet all slowed down after installing the 2017 version of trend I was sadly disappointed in this shirt version 2 laptops running slower than a snail on a turtles back.
