Hi, I am in a house that is next to a slight noisy road. We keep windows shut most of the time and would like something to draw in fresh air from outside without opening the windows. Is Ventis going to be helpful for this purpose? Have a few questions appreciate if someone could answer.
- Since the attic is very hot in summer, is the hot air going to be taken into the house and make it hot?
- What is the electricity consumption for a Ventis system. Is it possible to program it to run on a particular time every day?
- How often does a filter last(e. g. how many processing hours etc.) and how much is it to change it?
- What is a rough cost of the system? Understand every house is different, are we looking at a few thousands or a lot more?
thanks Wayne

Ventis

Hi Wayne,
Yes ventis can give you fresh air without opening the windows. In summer it runs at night because of the heat in the roof during the day. And in winter it runs at night. Its temperature controlled. It runs a 100kw fan so its about $10 per month. The filter needs to be changed every 12-15 months depending on running hours. It starts at $4500. Please feel free to email us on [email protected] if you need further information.

I had my filter changed and was away for a short while. On returning, we realised that the panel stated Fault #115- Damper not closed. Would this have anything to do at all with fact that the filter was changed and the Fault occured. I was informed by David at Chatswood that it was going to cost me $99, just to front up! Is that fair?

Hi Pooran. We would have to determine why the fault is happening. The fault is most likely nothing to do with the filter change but if we do find that it is an related fault of course you wont get charged the call out fee. I can see your service is booked on 24/1/20, our electrician will be out to look at your system.

Help! Our house has filled up with smoke from the bush fires. Only way for smoke to enter is through the Ventis vents. What can we do - vents don't close!

Hi Linda, I'm sorry to hear that you are in an area with excessive smoke.
Please make sure your Ventis is switched off. The smell will be in the house but no particles will be able to by pass the filter.

Thanks Scott. It is off but we still have a smoke haze throughout the house. I've plugged up some of the vents with tea towels for now.

Smoke can enter via down lights, the space around them... tape them over. Through gaps around doors, poorly sealing around windows... through extraction fans that are not piped through the roof... If extraction fans are run on maximum they will draw smoke into your house through any crack or crevice
Hope this helps

Our Ventis system only ever brings in cool air from external which we are breathing any way, why do we need a filter? Will the system operate without a filter and will it increase the air movement without filter?

The air from outside isn't as clean as you might think, it is better to use the filter to purify the air before it comes into your house. The system can operate without a filter but we don't recommend it. The air flow would increase without a filter but your system will be correctly specified for your home with the filter used as part of that calculation. Thanks, Gary @ Ventis

Why is filter necessary? We only bring in air from external which we breathe anyway, will system run more efficiently without a filter?

The filter is 0.3 micron. This will filter out pollution, dust, pollen etc that is in the atmosphere to purify the air. Most Ventis systems are drawing air from within the roof cavity to utilise the warmer air in Winter to help with heating where there is obviously more dust etc that outside. The Ventis system is a ventilation system designed to help with Asthma, allergies and other respiratory conditions so the filter is an important part of that. We don't recommend using the system without a filter. Thanks, Gary @ Ventis

I am currently renting a house that has this system and the filter needs replacing. Can old dirty filters that are not working anymore make you sick or cause any health issues?

À signal that filter needs to be replaced means only that the filter was installed a year ago. It is just a timer, nothing else! If the system was seldom or never used it's still OK. I am not a health expert so don't know if a used filter can cause any health problems, most likely not in my opinion.

Hi there, the filter usage percentage you can see on your controller via the Main Menu page. It's not on a timer as Mr Hawcot has mentioned in the answer above, it's based on how much the system has been operating. A blocked filter will start to reduce the air flow and therefore how effective the system will be. We have seen mould growing in filters that have been left long past the time they were due to be changed so definitely best to change them when due if you want your system to operate at it's best. Thanks - Gary @ Ventis.
