Freezes food and drinks in the fridge compartment
Has not been a great product, continually freezes food & drinks in the fridge compartment since we purchased it which means we have to throw away food items. Have had the control panel on the front of the fridge replaced previously but the problem persists. Aesthetically it looks good which attracted me to it, probably wouldn't purchase another Westinghouse product

Looks good - performance very questionable
My fridge is now 11 years old. It's had the usual problems for this model - the vegetable crisper lasted about 3 months before it broke and the temp/defrost controller has gone twice (the first time when it was 1 month out of warranty) resulting in over $600.00 worth of repair bills. Now it's done it again! I'd hate to think of the amount of food that's been binned each time. Another repair bill will put the repair value over the original price - not sure whether I'll bother. I'll think very carefully before buying another Westinghouse fridge.

Fridge / Freezer door completely detaches.
The upper fridge door completely broke away from the hinge on the freezer door below and ended up on the kitchen floor - the door shelving was smashed, contents strewn everywhere, and the floor was also damaged in the process. (Worth mentioning the crisper drawer was also faulty soon after purchase). Our insurer won't cover these kinds of manufacturer faults. The door is an obvious design flaw where the hinge is totally inadequate and significantly under engineered to cope with the load - the fridge itself works fine. Sorry to say we have also...Read more
purchased other Electrolux appliances that now raise the question of long term reliability? Doubt we will be supporting this mob with any future appliance purchases! Good name flawed by poor quality, expensive products!1 comment

Great Fridge
It's discontinued but I just wanted to say there's nothing wrong with this fridge because other reviews are saying they had bad experiences with Westinghouse. Our crisper tray broke also but I guess that's just the way we treated it. It's regular plastic like every other fridge. I liked the electronic temperature control so there's no doubt what level you've got it at and nice blue light inside. Yayy! Nothing wrong with this Westinghouse fridge.

Sleeping problems in fridge form
In the middle of the night, double-beep alarm would sound every 10 seconds. Turning the fridge off for a few minutes would stop it, but then after only a few minutes, beep beep! Back it comes. Nothing wrong with temps. If you get one of these, you will not sleep.

Terrible, cannot recomend
Vegetable drawer broke within 3 months. Door drink holder broke after 6 months. After 2 years small cracks developing on outside plastic door handles. Fridges are supposed to last 15-20 years. Hate to think what this will be like then. And we dont have kids who might be a bit harder on appliances. Cooling and freezing does work well however.

I have had a fridge with a bottom mounted freezer for 16 years.
It has only had the temperature controller replaced in that time for $80, so given it cost $740 you would agree it has been darn good value. It is still sitting out there now doing it's thing.

Door Dropped and Vegetable Bin Broke
I have done some searches regarding the dropped door issue and found due to the number of complaints that it might be a typical issue with Westinghouse fridges. The lower door hinge has dropped so much that the door won't close without force and it already scratched a large chunk out of the inner body of the fridge. The vegetable bin broke after just several months.... it doesn't surprise me, since the design and material seems flimsy and cheap. No issues with ice build-up though, the only reason why I haven't chucked it yet and bought a new one yet. But it still very annoying to see the door stay open when it hasn't been yammed close!

Good
Great fridge is now 14 months old so far very happy with it, the crisper drawer was faulty, and eventually broke [side runners] through no fault of our own, but was very quickly replaced and not showing any signs of trouble yet

Excellent
This fridge stood head and shoulders above all the models of this size that I looked at. The finish, the specifications and price have all contributed to this being excellent value for your $$$. The Electrolux version had a few more little creature comforts but was more expensive. I found the Fisher & Paykel freezer section was a bit gimmicky and with individual tubs wasted a lot of space where as the Westinghouse only had baskets. The finish of this fridge (glass shelves, bottle fingers, bottle rack, deli container) set this above brands su...Read more
ch as LG, Samsung etc I have the BJ433V model and it is an excellent fridge. The finish is great, the temperature controls are easy to use. There doesnt appear to be any problems with hot spots or food in the lower half of the fridge freezing. Nothing to dislike so far. I have owned it for 2 months.Similar opinion? Terrible
I would not buy this Westinghouse refrigerator again. The first Westinghouse fridge we bought failed to freeze/cool and was replaced. This second one after 2 years also appears to have the same failings.
An externally attractive looking refrigerator, with space and the internal appearance that all will work as it is designed to. Priced very competitvely against other brands.
The air flow cooling system for the fridge has failings and appears to ice up in the tubes. This stops the fridge compartment from working. This has now happened twice in the last 3 months. The service engineer's suggestion was to turn off the fridge for 12 hours if this occurs. The refrigerator is 2 years old.

Excellent
I bought this fridge 2 years ago to replace an older Westinghouse and it has performed faultlessly. Food is always kept at the correct temperature, it is very quiet and the interior layout is thoughfully designed. I love the exterior controls, especially the bottle chill timer and the quick freeze option. The best feature of all though has to be the vibrant blue 'disco' lights running the length of the interior, very cool!
Design, quietness, quality, controls on the outside
Plastic vege bin feels a bit flimsy, but has never broken

Unless the mauufacturer can give me a permanent fix solution to this ongoing problem, I would consider this this to be the most unreliable appliance anyone could possibly think of purchasing
Looks good
Freezes up every 2 -3 months and the fridge compartment stops working altogether. It has a major problem with the duct system

This is my second bottom mount westinghouse fridge and it is actually really a lot better than I expected. I was expecting a reliable work horse sort of cold cupboard but this fridge actually does look after the food in a way I wasn't used to. I'm a bloke writing this so it's a bit hard to get it across- but I feel we made a great choice and got great value for money. It is really nice to cut into a capsicum you bought before last weekend and have it cut crisp and still have all it's texture. Buy one but play the stores off against each other f...Read more
or a great price. I am very pleased with this fridge. I looked around at the options. We could only really pay around $1000- $1200 and we had a size limitation. This fridge was our choice and as it turns out a good one. We shopped around and got $349 off from a competing store so we were really happy. It is such a nice fridge. It keeps veg fresh for over a week. In our old fridge you would just know that after the third day it was time to shop again. Not with this one. Buy with confidence and haggle the price down- they will do it. Nothing really. I was used to wire shelves in fridges but you can't get them any more.Similar opinion?
