Avenger 25Plus AV25PSL (LPG, Silver)

Hi I bought the Rinnai Avenger 25 plus AV25PSL and it says on the back with “Use only with Propane gas” while I have a gas heating point at home using gas from the gas meter supplied by AGL. I searched and understand that I might use natural gas at home and wondering if it is safe to connect the Rinnai Avenger 25 Plus AV25PSL for use? Appreciate your advice. Thank you.

Hi Duy, take it back to swap it for a natural gas version if you bought new. If you bought second hand you could buy a conversion kit (call Rinnai for advice on which kit is suitable). This one is for bottled not natural, don’t connect it.

Thanks for the question and as Kez has advised you cannot use an LPG model on Natural Gas but conversion kits can be purchased at any Rinnai stockist (for locations of your nearest https://www.rinnai.com.au/store-locator/ )

The kit must be fitted by a licensed gas fitter.

Avenger 25Plus AV25PSL (LPG, Silver)

We have just had to pull out the heater for the winter season....the difference between this yr and last is that we now have a walking toddler.
We have had to move gas outlets (to one that isn't easily accessible to little hands) and now it sits much closer to our lounge (only 50cm away) although saying this, our house is very open living. Just wondering if this is deemed safe? (It does sit behind the lounge)
Also whats the thoughts on gas emissions and a 13 month old? Safe???

Re outlet location: your gas fitter should have certified that the new outlet location, fitting and installation is compliant.
Re emissions: ALWAYS have appropriate ventilation. I rely on our DVS system providing a flow of fresh air and have window(s) open (1st catch, about 1-2cm) sufficient to allow air to exit the area.
Preference is definitely a flued heater if it is practical and affordable.
Unflued gas heaters still sell here, bottle and mains.
There are safety features: The Rinnai heater turns off if oxygen depleted levels are detected. You could install a gas detector.
If in doubt about an unflued gas heater, don't do it as it will always bug you.
The heater is fantastic, we are happy with it and recommend it. Much more effective than our heat pump.
Good luck.

Thanks for the question Kelstar. There are a few things to be aware of when movig the location of the heater. We suggest the clearances around the heater should be at least 500mm surrounding the heater nd 750mm in front of the unit. If there is furniture too close to the front of the unit it will distrupt the airflow from the unit so may not heat the same area.

As mentioned above the unit does have a number of safety features including a Oxygen Depletion Safety Device, Tilt Switch and child lock. If you need further information about any of these devices please refer to the Customer Operation Manual which is available online at the Rinnai Australia website.

As with any gas heater, we recommend never leaving a small child unattended and never let anyone fall asleep right in front of the heater.

If you have any other concerns about the use of the heater we are happy to discuss further through our customer contact centre on 1300 555 545
