So Far So Good
I am yet to use the BBQ but so far I am very impressed. For a Portable Barbeque, I found the build quality excellent and the assembly very easy. Unlike the reviewer on September 10th (Ashley), I don't believe I have a high IQ but I'm pretty handy. It took me about 30 minutes to put the stand together once it was un-boxed. It's not entirely accurate to say it has 83 parts either! It has 20 parts. The rest are screws and washers etc...One thing that was great is that all the small components such as the screws and the essential allen key came in ...Read more
a sealed and labelled pack. Meaning no missing parts. The circlips that are used to hold the wheels in place, I pushed on with the aid of a flat head screw driver. The BBQ itself appears very well manufactured. I love the hood mechanism, its got a real feeling of quality. The addition of two little rubber rests on the rim of the BBQ also means it closes softly and quietly. The control knobs are located on the side rear of the BBQ, this may seem odd to some but they are visible and within easy reach. It's only a small BBQ remember. I like that they are out of the way. All of the other components, grill plates, shelves, burners, handles, thermometer etc. are what I would expect from a Quality 'Portable' BBQ. I also like the fact that you have different plate and grill options as they are reversable. No need to buy extra parts. The drip tray is held in pace by the Locking U-Bolt (which locks the BBQ to the stand) Unlike it was suggested in one post, the U-bolt is easily removed with a good pull. There are no bolts to undo. The only things I think could be improved on are the accessory hooks and the method of wheel attachment. The hooks look and feel cheap (light metal with a fake chrome coating) and the wheels are a bit wobbly. I think the addition of a simple shim between the bracket and wheel will easily fix that. I've owned Weber's and Coleman's and each has their pro's and cons. For me the BUGG is great value for money. I will be using the BBQ in the next few days. So I'll let you know how the cooking and cleanup goes.

Don't waste your Money!!!
We brought this cost 600.00, it broke when we were putting it together. Rang Harvey Norman and got it replaced. The replacement was just as bad. We used it once, the numbers on the heat dial disappeared. Phoned beefeater twice, they were just as bad as the barbie, didn't work either. It is now a pot plant holder. Seriously, it only looks nice in the shop, get it home, and you will regret it, please don't waste your money. After the first use, it looked burnt. Hard to clean, the food was cooked, but value for money is Nil.

A joke assambling it.
I don't mind putting things together as I am very handy with my hands and have an IQ of 142 but this is beyond the joke. The stand alone has 83 parts and has a circlip and with no circlip spanner. Why don't you mention that it does not. This took me 2 hours to put together and total concentration and I will be telling everyone I know to steer clear of this abomination. The BBQ might work alright but I am not liking the feedback I am reading and it appears very flimsy and the only strength it has is so many parts holding it together as I stated 83...Read more
and that's just the stand. What where you guys thinking of is it just about the $ and trying to get the most into a shipping container. As I said I am very disappointed and will be telling as many people to steer clear of this even if your IQ is in the Mensa level so its a big no from me!!!!! 83 parts just in the stand. Cmon guys what where you thinking really.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Disappointment Product and Customer Services
I bought this BBQ with trolley on the 5/09/2014 for a bargain price of $299.
However I do not expect the quality to be dodgy.
Firstly, one of the hood handle screws are missing. I contacted the shop and was told they will send me the replacement screws. Till not have not received them.
Secondly, the quality of paintwork along the edges of the BBQ hood was not well painted.
I also brought this to the shop's attention and was told it was hand painted, therefore this is how it should be by comparing other stocks in the shop.
One of the wheels...Read more
and the trolley does not spin perfectly. Lastly, the left hand side burner are making hissing sound when set at the lowest level but will go away when the the temperature is increased slightly. However, the same does not happened to the right burner even though at the lowest level. The Bugg customer service is really bad. I have emailed them several times at [email protected]. However I have received not reply from them at all. Quality Issue and customer service

Do not buy a beeteater bugg!!!
I bought a Beefeater Bugg 3 weeks ago, it looked nice in the shop. Once it was set up I noticed the handle on the lid was slightly loose and moved from side to side, it did not line up with the handle on the body either which made the BBQ lopsided. It cooked the food pretty well but was hard to control the temperature and the gauges are at the back of the BBQ which makes it a pain to control. After about 3 times of using it the lid became all discoloured and started looking really dirty, you could tell signs of poor quality. I bought the stand ...Read more
a couple of weeks after the BBQ. The screws that you fix the stand together with only screw into plastic sleeves, 2 of the screws just kept spinning and had already threaded before it was even put together, once together it basically lasted 1 night, went to roll it and one part came loose and screws fell out, the one wheel hardly moved and the whole thing was basically whole load of crap poor quality junk. They say the all Australian BBQ, but it says on the box MADE IN CHINA, I just don't get it. I took it all back and managed to get a full refund, $600. It is a total rip off. I went and bought a Webber for $644 which is 100 times better quality and has a 5 star rating. So whatever you do, DO NOT waste your money on the poxy Beefeater BuGG.Similar opinion? Great little bbq!
We have had our bugg for nearly 12 months and have been impressed with the way it cooks. It generates a great amount of heat which is easy to regulate. We have only used it for barbequing and not roasting but I have no problems in cooking four to six fat porterhouses to medium rare perfection. I have never had a weber so cant compare. We have had no issues with the quality of manufacture. No missing print from the dials or rusting chrome etc. I clean mine after each use and keep it covered which I think helps. It is a little difficult to clean....Read more
Due to average design of its base, fat deposits on the flat bottom and crevices and not in the drip tray. Not a big deal if you clean after each use but could be a problem after a big day cooking. Overall, I would recommend this bbq for its quick and high heat. Ours is plumbed into the mains. high heat generated to seal meats. compact and pleasing design bit difficult to clean the base of bbq due to designSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Best portable style
Had the Bugg now for 12 months. Had an issue with the paint coming off the control knobs which apparently was an early issue, However beefeater sent out replacement parts same week, so was happy with the customer service.
Having previously owned a Weber q am really loving the power of this unit which grills steak of all sizes perfectly and which was always an issue with the q.
Easy to remove from the base and great for taking away on family trips.
Very happy with the purchase.
Reliable, good heat output, fuel efficient

Beefeater Bugg v's Weber Q Longterm Review
We are serious barbequers who cook outside at least once every two days all year round. For 5 years we had a Weber 220 Q and it did everything really well except it couldn’t get over 240 degrees – not hot enough to get a pizza crisp and dry. We decided to trade up and bought a Beefeater Bugg. Wow the difference: up to 300 in no time for great pizza. Next try out was steak, good but could not regulate the temperature to anything less than 250. Third try was a lamb roast and it was ruined. Overdone on the outside and too rare inside. Could not ge...Read more
t it down below 250 degrees - simply too hot. Called Beefeater ‘Helpline’ to be told that this was an acceptable temp to roast! The dealer wasn’t much help either. As a cooker we give it 4 out of 10. BUT wait there’s more – Beefeater claim the Bugg was ‘born in Australia’ (to us that meant made here). NO it’s made in China – blatantly misleading. After only a few months: the chrome bottom rack of the trolley has rusted badly. The printing on the control knobs has come off. Both knobs have lost their ‘grip’ and spin on the shaft making setting the temperature impossible. The locking pin is bent out of shape making it difficult to release the BBQ from the trolley. Three of the plastic feet on the BBQ have broken making it unstable. The rubber lid stops have fallen out. The printing inside the temperature gauge has come off and the chrome handle is pitting. The drip tray is too small and the interior of the BBQ is very very hard to clean. The enamel coating on the hood is chipping allowing the steel to rust. When cooking with the hood down, fat drips out onto our deck and into the plumbing at the back of the BBQ. We are not the only ones to experience these problems. That’s a pity because obviously the BBQ was rushed into production without enough testing. Overall we would struggle to give it 1 out of 10. The casual barbequer may be very happy with the Bugg. We have bought another Weber the big family Q. I would recommend that you look at The BBQ Galore Ziegler or the Weber for about the same price as the Beefeater. Fast heat up Sorry but just about everything1 comment
Exactly my experience - buy another brand The Bugg is bugg'rd!

powerful and cooks quickly but not quality
Less than 9 months and the chrome rack on the base of the trolley is very badly stained with rust. It has a cover and we do not live near the beach. Paintwork on edges of the BBQ lid bit patchy suggesting poor quality control.
BBQ does heat quickly and cook quickly. Can both grill and roast. When grilling the heat is not very uniform across surface, significant hot spots mean you have to keep jostling the meat around so it all cooks uniformly. Fat accumulates in bottom of bbq as the base of the bbq chamber is flat ( why???) and fat does not d...Read more

You can get the rack swapped over by contacting Beefeater.

Shoddy quality. Buy something else.
I only had my Bugg for 2 months and used it 6 times before it showed problems. The temperature gauge printing in the sealed hood thermometer flaked off and wiping the burner control knobs with a damp cloth resulted in all the printing coming off. The locking U shackle had pitting and rusting of the chrome, and the trolley stand had pitting and rusting of the chrome. Beefeater sent me out replacements for the faulty bits but because I live within a 45km radius from the beach said they would not replace the chrome components again. Note I also had a cover for the Bugg and that did not prevent any of the problems.
Compact size.

Great all round BBQ
Costs a bit extra up front but best for the money by far. Took ours camping no legs, and used at home, with legs. Bought at Hardly Normal on Special. No extra bits to buy. has two controlable burners. reversable plates. Made in China to Aussie specs. heavy casting, works very well. Have cooked a roast in it .Recommend to anyone.
Best features included. no extra to buy. two seperate burners. cooks open(char grill) or closed(roast)
Possibly a little expensive up front to some.

Beefeater Bugg - everything I was after!
I've cooked two family meals on the Bugg now and am slowly getting used to the power. The menu included bacon, eggs, sausages, hash browns, pancakes, chicken sticks and we were very happy with the results and the ease of cleaning. I can't wait to get steaks and a roast happening in the very near future!
Power, cleaning, solid feel, plate & grill included, dual control burners, thermometer and perfectly cooked food
bbq is heavy so it takes 5-10 min to preheat.

Questions & Answers
Fox W.asked
How do you get the grease tray out on the Bugg? Surely you're not having to pull out the U bolt every time? Mine locks in tight so you have to be a contortionist to lever the tabs to release it?
2 answers
Yep, that’s what you have to do alright. Apply firm pressure and try not to bang your hand when it pops out. Putting the U bolt back is easier - just line it up and give it a whack.
Bugger that. I just loosened the screws off so the tray sits a bit lower and will slide out.
Bret Y.asked
I need to replace the ignition leads as they were damaged while transporting to storage. I’ve got the replacement leads just want to know how to replace them properly. What to remove and how to basically replace them without damaging anything. Thanks
