@Bosch
I have recently started to experience the exact same difficulties as many others in this thread with my WTW87565AU condenser dryer. After 5-10 minutes it beeps at me and shows the symbol suggesting that it needs emptying. This unit has been plumbed into the waste for the last 12 months and has only just started doing this. At only 18 months old I'm really disappointed as we moved to a Bosch unit to replace a really poor Samsung unit. Luckily I'm still within warranty so hopefully Bosch can look after me and keep the fix nice and painless.

We had this dryer for just over two years. It's now beeping after initially running for about 7 minutes in any program. Then it asked to empty the condensation tank except there is no water in there at all. I checked the lint filters and the moisture sensor to make sure it's clean. What gives? This should not be happening to a dryer that's only two years old!

My dryer has just had the pump replaced under warranty at 13months old. It seemed to be clogged up with gunk. Is it better for the machine to used the condensation tank which has a filter in it? I wonder if the pump failed due to fluff not being filtered out when codensation runs to the drain tube?

Hi Liz,

My thoughts below. I am no technician expert but hopefully, the discussion below may shed some light to it.

It seemed to be clogged up with gunk.
• Need more clarity, what sort of gunk, is this gunk discovered by BOSCH.

Is it better for the machine to use the condensation tank which has a filter in it?
• I wouldn't change to use the tank just because of this, the drain should do the job regardless. These machines have been built for decades and drain hose pipe is not something new and this problem needs to be identified.

I wonder if the pump failed due to fluff not being filtered out when condensation runs to the drain tube?
• Rule out this case by checking your lint filter, if it is not torn and it is catching fluff, then it has nothing to do with the fluff.
• You also need to identify what this gunk is. Also, you can only use this machine to dry cleaned things out from the dryer. Page 27 of the manual states this (laundry contaminated with solvents wax or grease, unwashed items, items made from nonbreathable fabrics such as rubber-coated, etc.). I highly suggest you revisit what items you may have tumble dry that may be of the listed example from Page 27.

My questions for you.
• Did BOSCH give you a reason why this happened? If they did say is gunk, did they specify exactly?
• What other tips did they give you to stop this from happening?
• is it only the pump replaced? Did the technician do a proper drain hose install again?

Sometimes, you may have just gotten a lemon product and that is the way it is. No one ever builds things that last compared to things built from the good old days. These days, if you're lucky, you get more years of use of the same machine than others.

Liz
Liz

I only ever dry washed clothes. Ordinary things like towels, socks, T shirts. I clean the lint filter every time I use it and it appears in as new condition. The technician didn't say much. He flushed out the drainage system which did not fix the problem and then replaced the pump. The "gunk" is what I observe on the old pump he left on the bench. It looks like wet lint.

tldr
tldr

Hi Liz our dryer seems to be suffering from the same issue. Can I ask how much it was to get a technician to come out to replace the pump? I think this is a design fault that we can't clean the pump filter ourselves as the front panel is not removable...

This seems to be normal. It is mentioned on page 40 - 'residual water in the condensation container...'

I have the same unit and second time using it I notice a lot of water in the condensation container. I have a drain pipe installed and it is working as I see water coming out of it.

The reason why the black plug is there is that it drains the dirty water after it is used to clean the condenser. So having a large amount of water there is normal.

Do you mean the lint filter? You just lift it out and remove the lint.

Leeching

You can YouTube it. The unit runs the condensed water through the filter to 'self clean'. I do not think you can manually clean it. Maybe unnecessary for a manual deep clean since this is some patented technology which should be good enough.

I have the Bosch WTW87565AU and am pulling my hair out trying to work out why it will not drain into the waste water. I have removed the black hose from the connecter and “parked” it. I have then connected the supplied drain hose to the connecter and routed it to the waste connector under my laundry trough. I have removed the rubber bung and also the screen from the condensation tray and stored them in the appropriate spot. Despite following all the instructions, triple checking the connections, steps and the hose for kinks I don’t get a single drop of water out of the drain hose, however the condensation tanks fills up. Does the tank fill to a certain level and then the water is pumped down the drain? How is the water even getting into the condensation tank if the black hose is disconnected, the drain connected in it’s place and the bung removed???? Pulling my hair out with this

Hi Bamm Bamm, thanks for your question.
If you have a look at page 29 of the user manual you'll find full instructions on how to fix this.
The appliance will only drain into the condenser or into the drain and not both. On the back of the appliance (bottom right) you'll see a section of a hose coming from inside the appliance and another hose which is going to your drain. You'll need to switch the positions of the two hoses on the back of the appliance. The water will then drain into the hose to the drain and not the hose to the condenser. If you need any further help, please contact us on 1300 369 744 to discuss further.

Ours is doing exactly the same thing!! Weirdly, we found two additional manuals for this exact model on the internet (at https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1033768/Bosch-Wtw87565au.html?page=29#manual and https://media3.bosch-home.com/Documents/9001047800_B.pdf), in addition to the one that came with the machine, and each has slightly different information about the plumbing-in process. Why they've edited it twice, we have no idea, especially as the earlier instructions seemed to be more clear/specific. Anyhow, what we have gathered is that the outlet tube works by siphoning the water from the bottom right back outlet, and that to do this the tube can't just run into the sink/outlet any old how, it needs to go up vertically between 80cm and 100cm from the dryer back outlet before dipping down again (into the drain/drain plumbing outlet) or it won't work - you see it best in the second link (page 14). Mind you, we haven't gotten this to work yet (not yet tried this configuration) as we have been trying other solutions, none of which have worked. The tube is also way too short to do this and allow us to plumb under the sink - we're going to have to drill a hole in our laundry benchtop and run it into the sink itself, which is hardly ideal. We rang the 1300 369 744 number (as advised by the Bosch rep) and the woman was useless - she basically said 'let me check the manual' and didn't seem aware that there were three, none of which was clear. We also asked if we could get a longer hose, and she said no, they don't make/offer a longer hose. The other option available which should work (again, we haven't tried it) would be to put the dryer up on the bench, so that the drainage tube runs down into the sink (ie with gravity). We cannot believe that on a $1500 dryer a) we have to go through so much hassle to not have to manually empty the water tray each time we use the dryer (sometimes even during a load the light comes on), b) your only other option is to do the manual emptying, c) the instructions are SO bad, and d) that every other buyer of this dryer seems to have worked out the plumbing-in without hassle! (HOW is this possible??). We are very annoyed and would absolutely not have bought this dryer if we'd known it would be so ridiculous to plumb in (why does it not have a PUMP to pump out the water into the hose??). Good luck Bamm Bamm, let us know how you go.

I'm looking at replacing my Samsung heat pump condenser dryer with a Bosch one. I especially like the idea of the self cleaning condenser. But I can't find a clear answer regarding if you take the option of having this model plumbed in, (so the water automatically drains into the pipes rather than always collecting in the reservoir), does that mean the self cleaning condenser function will no longer apply? Also, I can't work out the difference between the WTW87565AU and the more expensive WTY877W0AU models. If anyone can help me with either or both of these questions I'd really appreciate it. Hi Gorpy,

Hi, due to limitation I may not want to install the drain hose and understand I need to empty the container every time.

Can anyone let me know how frequent do I need to empty that container 'during' the drying process? rarely or often? say I want to dry a full load (8/9 kg).

I don't mind to empty it a the end of the cycle, but if I need to do it 'twice' every time, then it's a hassle I do not want.

Hi bosch,
I called your after sales team. And as the unit is under warranty a technician is coming out next week. I will let you know how it goes!

Well an updste, after a bit of drama getting a technician booked, Bosch got a third party one to come and look at the dryer. He said the pump was covered in gunk that he expected to see after a machine was used 5 or 6 years not under 1 year as ours is.
He cleaned it and hooked up the hose to the sink and said it should be fine and left. I put a wet towel and some kids clothes in to test it out. Almost immediately it stopped working. Tried a couple of different cycles and it stopped after 5 mins each time. Called bosch back and they tried calling the third party technician service but couldn't get through. They've urgently emailed them to contact me. I now want a completely new machine as it worries me there have been so many issues with this one. This is my first experience buying and using a bosch product and im not impressed to be honest. Lets hope they can arrange a replacement swiftly and without issue.

After about 2 washes we notice the water tray was full of water and appeared not to be draining as it was 24 hours after we last used it.

Bosch have explained that due to the auto wash on the filter this tray will need to be emptied manually after each wash?

Hi S P, thanks for your question.
This model either drains via a hose or into the condenser which needs to be manually emptied, if the water from the appliance is going into the condenser (factory setting) and you wish it to go into a hose then the installation of the appliance needs to be altered.
There are full instructions for this in the appliance user manual, at the back of the appliance right hand side you'll see two hoses, one is on a stopper and the other will be actually connected to the appliance, you'll just need to switch those two around in order for the water to drain into the hose.

Thanks. The conflicting information was from that number. I will try them again and hopefully get someone who can help this time.

I have the water going into the condenser and I empty it manually. 6 towels will 3/4 fill the reservoir but lwith light cottons etc every second load. I am in the habit of cleaning the lint filter and the water reservoir at the same time and it works a treat.
