Replaced a Sunbeam Torino - this had major design faults. Breville Dual Boiler and Smart Grinder Pro
Purchased a Sunbeam Torino and matching grinder two years ago from Harvey Norman with a 4 year replacement warranty. Really looks the part but had two design flaws. Kept switching off after a few minutes before Group Head had fully warmed up. Sunbeam said this was in the design and could not be changed. I had to keep watching for it to switch off and turn on again to get hot enough. This meant it would never pour a great shot, good but not great. Second the Torino grinder was very messy and splattered grinds everywhere. Also after 18 months th...Read more
e coffee machine failed. Sunbeam was very good in repairing and replacing the faulty parts but I was without a machine for over a month. A few months ago my son bought a Breville Dual Boiler BES920 with a Breville Smart Grinder Pro BCG820. Great price. Seemed a much better machine and half the price of Torino two years before. Maybe Breville are phasing out this model? Don’t know but everyone has them for sale? It is basically the same as their other dual boiler machines up to $3000+! So I bought one and will sell the Torino. I have had it for a month now and are VERY happy with it. Quality and functionality is a very big step above Torino. More importantly it draws a great shot every time! Better than anything I could coax out of the Torino. The Breville has a separate heater in the group head! The Breville is very close to the expensive Italian machines in functionality. It is a true dual boiler with expensive SS boilers. The Torino is not. I bought it again from Harvey Norman for both coffee Machine and Grinder for under $1000! Fantastic value. I also got a 4 year replacement warranty. I live in the bush and believe me this is worth every cent. I could go on and on about how superior the BES920 and BCG820 (BEP920 as a package) are to the Sunbeam Torino products and much cheaper. If you can pick one up you will not be disappointed! Also use is superior to Torino and much easier to service. I am not sure why ieatwords say the BES920 is discontinued. It is sold by all the major places such as HN, Myer, Good Guys etc? It seems BEP920 is the package deal of these two identical products. But they are both still available for purchase separately.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great for all types of coffee beans
We bought this to use along side with out coffee machine as we love fresh ground coffee and this small device is a great addition and grinds beans down to almost perfect shaves of coffee and ample to use. The samples that came with it was also good to try but ran out super fast!

Makes great coffee
Purchased 2014 has been trouble free and makes great coffee, reliable model and does have inbuilt reminders to clean and replace filters. Have the Cranberry Coloured model and it delivers a product comparable to a commercial coffee machine, steam generator boiler is not as quick but good enough for home use and when making multiple cups for a group, it doesnt give up or slow down, quite consistent in delivery, as the internals are obviously well designed and built to last .
Forward four years and had issue with leaking from boiler hose, p...Read more

Great!
This is a really good coffee machine, the 3 star review is because it doesn’t leave room for large cups to be put under it.
Also the grinder is very very noisy at 3 am in the morning. But that’s probably as I am the only 9ne up at that time.

Changed our life FOR THE BETTER from those nasty pods.
We love our Breville make about 6 coffees a day and it's goin strong, the milk frothing is more variable compared to those automatic models like the oracle but you save $1k in the process and the manual process is fun, some days youll make a coffee to rival any great cafe, every so often youll stuff it up .
To sum it up a great machine do yaself a favour and make the switch from those nasty pods.

Lives up to the hype - an excellent home machine
Though this is discontinued I found Bing Lee selling units recently with a 20% off coupon and snapped one up. I already owned the grinder. The Machine is fantastic. Between the tunability and various controls there is an excellent base on which you can pull a great home espresso.
The preinfusion and volumetric settings are fantastic. As the grinder is time based I recommend a set of scales to dose out the beans reliably. Also, Youtube and coffeesnobs.com.au has excellent information on tuning the machine. The pour-in tank is convenient, the...Read more
shots are consistent, the styling is great. The whole thing is just great and i agree with the various review sites that it's the best machine for home-use under $1000. The little details seal the deal - the retractable wheel to lift the unit for moving around and cleaning, the under tray storage, the cleaning system - it just seems very well put together. The steam wand is powerful enough to texture milk well, not as powerful as the Silvia or commercial units but gets the job done. In some ways, with a cold jug and milk the lack of steam power means you spend longer working on and texturing the milk, which makes for exceptional microfoam. It could be my imagination - it just seems to come out really nice and smooth. Lastly - invest in a few toys. Hit up the chinese import sites - what you want is 58mm intelligent dosing ring, espresso distributor and 30lb spring tamp. Cheap imitations of the insanely priced commercial versions work just fine and take a few variables out of the equation. It's made my beans last longer as I lose less on crappy shots. What's my interest? In my younger days I worked as a Barista in Australia and the US for five years and just really like coffee. I moved to this unit from a rancilio silvia - which i loved, but I find the Breville less temperamental and consistent. I found I didnt have the time or patience to coax the silvia into behaving. The breville just works.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Took time to get it right
I had to try so many brands of coffee to get the one I liked best so that was a very expensive start. I am still trying to get the best dark chocolate powder. At first I was making coffee in mugs and it was watery but since I started making it in a cup I have the perfect strength as I also use the two cup filter basket. I love that I can make the coffee and froth the milk at the same time. I couldn't do that with my previous machine and had trouble with temperatures now I get the perfect cup. I do use lactose free skim milk usually but the regu...Read more
lar milk works just as well. The froth on the top is lovely and firm and I must have almost paid for the machine already after usually having 3 cups a day. It tells me when to clean and when to change the filter and both are just so easy to do.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great prosumer model
This was a great unit for a home user or in our case, a small business wanting a non-commercial machine. Has poured excellent coffee over 2 years but has started to develop leaks and corrosion internally. May not be worth repairing, but we feel we've got our monies worth out of it.

Dependable and consistent results.
This machine is used in conjunction with my Breville Duo Temp Pro espresso machine (see seperate review and is a perfect match.)
It has an easy to read display that tells you the selected grind size (chosen by turning a knob on right side), the length of the grind in seconds and the number of shots/cups chosen. The machine will adjust the time of grind according to the number of shots/ cups chosen. It took me about 3 grinds to dial in the amount and size of grind I reqd (for MY perfect esspresso coffee with the beans I us,) so is very easy to ...Read more

Excellent machine.
Got it on special from Good Guys. Very great coffee machine. Much better than our previous capsule one. Easy to maintain. Great taste of coffee. It's not that expensive if you consider how much coffee you will drink outside. Highly recommend for any coffee lover. The dual boiler is also great. Saves time.

Great coffee
Makes great fresh coffee and does not take too long. It is nice and quiet so doesn’t wake everyone up I first thing in the morning. It is fairly easy to clean as long as you clean it more or less straight away. I would not recommend leaving it until the end of the day.

Excellent machine
Makes fantastic coffee (using good beans of course) is reasonably quiet when it's starting up and doesn't take long in the mornings until its good to go. Only thing could be improved is if it stayed turned on for a bit longer once you don't touch anything for a while until it goes into standby. Apart from that can't fault it

Appalling spare parts support
A now obsolete plastic part that previously cost $3 is now unavailable and the fix is $500.. complete joke Breville. You force me to buy the spare overseas.
Such a shame as the coffee was quite good from this machine. Just dont expect it to last more than 5 years.

Very happy with this grinder
I was looking for a machine to make decent coffee at home because I was sick of the awful taste of Nespresso. Initially I purchased this grinder after reading reviews on this website and used an AeroPress.
The grinder is as good as the reviews suggest and has performed well over the past year I have owned it.
6 months after purchasing I happened to come across the Sunbeam EM700 coffee machine on sale and online reviews were very positive so I took the plunge.
This Breville grinder paired with the above mentioned coffee machine and some good quality coffee beans from my local cafe, this makes a fantastic cup of coffee!

New World Of Coffee
I just love this grinder. A funny thing to say maybe but if you love coffee and I do, this baby opens up a whole new world of choice to you.
I was a mere drinker of supermarket ground coffee until I bought this. That meant a whole new world of bespoke beans grinders and coffee flavours opened up to me.
You pour the beans in the big hopper on top and and then it seems a little overwhelming with choices at first because this baby has an almost endless array of custom settings (600 grind choices) but once you are in the swing of daily use, it...Read more

Has been an awesome purchase!
Fantastic coffee machine. I’ve had mine for over 4 years and it works like new. steamer is brilliant producing smooth creamy milk every time. I love it! I’m not sure why they have discontinued this model. Seems like a shame. I predict I’ll have this for many more years to come!

Worked well for just under 2 years
After completing lots of research, we purchased the Dual Boiler as it was meant to be one of Breville's better machines. We were able to make pretty good coffee after a short time. Unfortunately, the steam wand developed a slow leak. I didn't think it was anything major, however, the warranty was about to expire so I took it in for repair. The repairer found that one of the boilers had corroded and many of the internals were rusted. The machine was prohibitively expensive to repair, so it was replaced with a brand new machine of the same model.
We're hoping we'll have better luck this time round.
It's a good machine, until it breaks.

Cafe quality Coffee
I have now had this machine for a while. This machine produce the best café quality coffee. I use this machine every day and look forward to my morning hit. The machine is easy to use quick to clean. It holds quite a bit of water so you do not need to top up every time you use it. I would recommend this machine to anyone.

I have recently completed a descale on my dual boiler. Reset and all good, however, when I turn in machine, with Water tank half full, i can hear machine filling up with water then reaches temperature and extracts well (9.5 bar) and steams milk, however after I turn it off, water must be leaking from machine as within few hours the drip tray is completely full of water and the water tank is empty - didn’t do this before the descale? Any ideas?

I have just purchased BES920 today, and this machine makes a big noise when brewing. Checked YouTube and found same problem someone posted but he just ended up to use it as is. Pp suggested it is the air trapped in the boiler, but my machine made the noise since the first coffee. Anyone knows I can fix this?

Hi there. I need some help with my BES 920. It has run faultless for the first 12 to 18 months but after that the pre infusion randomly plays up. Sometimes It works normally but most of the time when you press either of shot buttons you just get what I assume is the solenoid valve humming and no pre-infusion until it reaches the 7 seconds before full pressure comes in and pours a less than acceptable shot. After searching for the problem I have replaced the solenoid valve thinking that was the issue but it still does the same thing. I have learnt to get around the problem by dispensing some hot water and then doing a shot which works every time but just a band aid for the problem. Any suggestions as to what the problem could be? Anyone else with the same problem? Looking for a solution. Thanks
