I have recently completed a descale on my dual boiler. Reset and all good, however, when I turn in machine, with Water tank half full, i can hear machine filling up with water then reaches temperature and extracts well (9.5 bar) and steams milk, however after I turn it off, water must be leaking from machine as within few hours the drip tray is completely full of water and the water tank is empty - didn’t do this before the descale? Any ideas?

I have just purchased BES920 today, and this machine makes a big noise when brewing. Checked YouTube and found same problem someone posted but he just ended up to use it as is. Pp suggested it is the air trapped in the boiler, but my machine made the noise since the first coffee. Anyone knows I can fix this?

Hi there. I need some help with my BES 920. It has run faultless for the first 12 to 18 months but after that the pre infusion randomly plays up. Sometimes It works normally but most of the time when you press either of shot buttons you just get what I assume is the solenoid valve humming and no pre-infusion until it reaches the 7 seconds before full pressure comes in and pours a less than acceptable shot. After searching for the problem I have replaced the solenoid valve thinking that was the issue but it still does the same thing. I have learnt to get around the problem by dispensing some hot water and then doing a shot which works every time but just a band aid for the problem. Any suggestions as to what the problem could be? Anyone else with the same problem? Looking for a solution. Thanks

Hi I have a brand new Dynamic Duo but cant get the steam wand to work-I just get 3 beeps. Any suggestions?
1 answer
Hi Natalie, mine does that if I get impatient and open the steam valve too soon but it always comes good within a minute or so. The steam boiler has a higher target temp to reach (usually 135 deg. C) and takes a little longer to get there after the group gets to extraction temperature.
If yours isn't coming good and producing steam after a few minutes, I'd be putting the machine in for warranty service as it's likely not getting hot enough. Best of luck.

How far should the group head be turned. Is beyond the black line too far. It seems to be the only way the gauge shoots up to 9 bars

Hi Cheryl. Tighten the portafilter in the group as much as is necessary to extract without water escaping past the seal. There is a point at which it is physically impossible to turn the portafilter any further. If you reach that point and water is still bypassing the group seal, it's time to replace the seal.
With correct use, it's pretty hard to damage the seal but leaving the portafilter in the group after you turn off the machine is a great way to make the seal age prematurely. I'm not saying you're doing this, but it is a pretty common mistake.
Thank you so much for your response.

To much coffee was ground into the single head and then over tampered. Now no water will come out of the group head even without the head attached. Timer runs no sound

I have just done a complete descale, made a new coffee, but the steam wand doesn’t work, the hot water will run, but not the steam wand. The end has been cleaned, even with the steam head removed, there is no steam coming out.
What can I do?
Thanks Greg

Trying to descale the Duo Machine. OK for steps 1 & 2 but at step 3 Begin Descale, I press Manual button (which is not alight if you need to know that), but nothing at all happens - apparently no filling of boilers and no countdown.
Any ideas on how to proceed? I cannot just ignore the Descale message and make a coffee, as the tank has descale solution in it.

Hi. My 2-yr old dual boiler (which I LOVE) is now randomly heating up past 94C and makes strange boiling noises. Not always but off and on. I turn off, let it cool down and try again later and sometimes works. Can you tell me why this is happening and can it be fixed? Thanks Barbara

Hello, It appears you would need to replace the inner shower screen located in the group head area as this part might be damaged and is causing the issue.

You press the flap on the top of the machine at the front and it opens so you can pour the water in.

When my coffee is made my group head is full of water and so runny any ideas?
Kathyasked
This is actually for the BES900. This is a loan machine and I can only sometimes get the right pressure on pressure gauge when making a coffee. They did not give me the proper tamper but I have a stainless steel measuring cup which seems pretty close to the right side. I’m using espresso coffee and I tamp it down as firm as I can get it. Today’s coffee only just got past the pre infusion bar. Help please!!

Hi Kathy, I have only had this issue on my old machine also the BES900 when the seal wasn’t fitted correctly. It would never reach the desired pressure and I finally gave up and sent it away - the result was that at manufacture level the seal was faulty. You can try to clean the machine, do a factory reset and play around a little with the grind though - it could be a mix of those factors also. Good luck
@AdrianandShel i am having the same problem, im thinking mine is the seal are they easy to replace?
If it was the seal it is likely it would be leaking out the sides. If you are using pre-ground coffee it is likely to be too course unless you are using a dual wall filter.

Machine keeps telling us to descale. This is after maybe one or two days after doing a descale. A good many of the questions/answers here are a bit confusing so can anyone give some possible reasons that I might attempt before chasing Breville. After a descale the machine appears to function ok, it is just that the descale message keeps popping up within a very short timeframe. Any ideas?

Hey, I had a similar experience, before contacting breville try to do a factory reset on the machine - it is found in the manual but I can’t remember what page sorry, good luck - check back in and let me know if it solves your issue :)
Thanks. Will try it & let you know.
I've had the same issue for over 12 months! I've done the factory reset 100's of times but the descale message is still there. any ideas?

Has anyone had the pressure guage malfunction after doing a brew-head clean cycle? We just did our first clean cycle on our BES920, using the supplied cleaning tablet and following the instructions in the owners manual. Now the pressure guage does not seem to work. The machine still seems to work fine...still brews coffee and steams milk, but the pressure guage either doesn't change at all, or will jump to like 5 mbar and stay there, even when the machine is off.
In the questions in this forum I saw a lot of folks having issues with the descaling process, but not with the cleaning...has anyone else experienced anything like this with regards to the pressure guage after a cleaning cycle, and what did you to do to fix it? Do we need to replace the pressure guage?
