After sales service from the manufacturer is appalling
After our heater was installed the first windy day it proceeded to turn itself on. We would turn it on again and anything from 1 - 30 mintues it would turn itself off again. The response from the manufacturer was to say that it was "not possible" for this to occur and that they would refer it to their Research and Development department. My suggestion that they come and look at our heater was declined. Two to four weeks passed while the manufactuer refused to speak to us or take any calls. At the end of this period we were told that they had "m...Read more
anaged to recreate the fault in their lab and would now work on a solution" Two weeks later we were advised that they had a solution and the service department would be in touch to supply the fix. Two weeks later and with several phone calls on our side the problem was referred back to the retailer and installer who were to fit the new cowl that would "solve the problem." First windy day after the new cowl was fitter? The heater continues to turn off at every gust of wind. It's pretty irritating to have to turn on your heater 2 - 10 times an hour in order to stay warm. What is most frustrating about all this is the attitude of the manufacturer. They are unresponsive and arrogant and seem to think that supplying a heater that doesn't work is perfectly okay. I notice that in July 2011 they are advertising a free LCD Tv with every heater purchased. I hope the TV works because the heater doesn't. When it stays on it is a very effective heater. Heater doesn't function in windy weather (note it is often windy in winter!) After sales service from the manufacturer is very poor. Heater is quite noisy.1 comment

Great heat output, easy installation job
I had a different and reasonably painless experence with the purchase and installation.
I chose the powerflue due to the flexible installation options... I had an internal wall that I wanted to install it against and needed it to flue under the floor.
I knew it was going to cost a little to flue it down, but am very happy with the end result. The heater works well and looks great. I haven't had any performance issues so far.
reliable, efficient, energy efficent, installation optionsm, inexpensive for the heater unit
I can sometimes notice the noise of the heater

How do i turn heater on?

You can operate the heater manually by pressing the ON/OFF button once. (Located on the side of the unit)
Or if you have the remote thermostat, select manual mode by pressing the A/M button until Manual appears on the display, then press the up arrow to the desired temperature.
thank you Steve, I managed to get the heater going the pilot was not lighting when I turned the dial however, after letting it rest for a few minutes, it worked. Just being impatient. :)

Brand new Cannon Fitzroy why does it beep four times and not ignite?

That's what I'd like to know. Service guy has been out 3 times now for this problem and it is still not fixed.

Hi Heater, when the heater beeps 4 times, the heater turns to safe shutdown mode. It will beep 4 times every 30 seconds to alert you to the fact. Press the ON/OFF button once to restart the heater during this time. Wait at least 20 seconds before attempting to turn the heater on.
If you still experience problems with your Cannon Fitzroy, we recommend you contact our Customer Care team on 1300 727 421 or email your details to service @ixl.com.au with "Product Review Comments" in the subject line. Our team are keen to assist you resolve the issue.

we bought a house with this heater but there are no instruction how to turn it on. Can anyone help?

With mine the controls are 4 small buttons on the right side of the unit, top corner, electric start so unit must be plugged in, turned on and have gas valves in on position if you have safety valves in the line .
The top button is the start button and after oressing you will hear the automatic starter ticking rapidly, it should light within 2-4 seconds if gas is connected and flowing .
