Cash Converters In Woden - Canberra. STAY AWAY FROM THEM
I'm a lady in my Fifties, and I caught 2 buses to the other side of Canberra to attend an Appointment at Canberra Hospital. Before I left Woden, I called into Cash Converters and managed to buy a Hi Definition Set Top Box for Ten Dollars. It was labelled HD Receiver, and I double checked with the Staff Member who said it was Hi - Def. I also looked at the Dvd Recorders, but they weren't much cheaper than brand new ones, so decided against it. But the Staff Member pointed out a Sony Dvd Recorder with built in Hard Drive (2007 Model) that had bee...Read more
n reduced from 79 Dollars to 40 Dollars, but I noticed it was the only one that didn't have a Remote Control stuck to the side of the Recorder. I mentioned this and he said he would go and find it for me. He rummaged around inside a box for 10 minutes and said "I found it." I told him the Fifty Dollars was my Birthday money from a family member, and how thrilled I was with my 2 purchases, and I asked him for his first name so I could tell other people how helpful and wonderful he was. He said his name was J***** and there is 2 J*****s in the Shop, but he is the taller one. I knew it was going to be a struggle to get these 2 electronic items home on 2 different buses, plus my hand bag, but I would manage. On arriving home, I downloaded the Instruction Manual from the Internet for the Hi - Def Set Top Box, only to find it wasn't Hi- Def, it was Standard Set Top Box, and completely useless to me. But I still had the Dvd Recorder/Built In Hard Drive bargain for 40 Dollars. I downloaded the Instruction Manual for that as well, and immediately noticed the Remote Control on the Instruction Manual was nothing like the Remote I was holding. There wasn't even a button to tune in TV Channels, and you need to be able to tune the Channels in, otherwise the Dvd Recorder is useless. I then realised the Remote Control he had given me was meant for an old Model Sony Dvd PLAYER!! A Universal Remote would even be useless because you need the actual Remote that came with this Dvd Recorder. I sat on the floor annoyed and frustrated, and realised why it had been reduced to 40 Dollars. And I felt stupid that I actually trusted this man. I got sucked in by his little speech, J***** said "This Shop has been recently taken over by new Owners, it used to have a bad reputation, but we are trying to get back a good name." YEAH, RIGHT J*****. Hey J*****, I told you that Word of Mouth is a powerful tool, and I said I would tell other people of my two terrific bargains. What a joke. I carried home TWO WORTHLESS HEAVY PIECES OF JUNK. I also love the sign you had in the Store saying "Please choose carefully, as we do not refund." He obviously thought I would blame myself for not being able to set up the Dvd Recorder and Set Top Box. WRONG!! I am educated, but I didn't expect him to be such a liar, especially when I knew the Store was under new Ownership, and trying to build a good reputation. I'm sending in clear evidence to Product Review so they can be sure of what I've written. This Review does not apply to any other Cash Converters Store, or Head Office. Belconnen Cash Converters have never treated me like this. It's just the Woden Store. Fifty Dollars mightn't seem like alot of money to lose, but when your not working, it is alot of money. Plus it was Birthday money from a family member. So that means Cash Converters Woden were actually trying to sell this useless Dvd Recorder for 79 dollars, but no one was stupid enough to buy it. That's why it was reduced to $40 dollars. They had no business even accepting it from whoever brought it into the Store. It's useless without the Remote Control. I would be old enough to be J***** mother. I wonder how he treats his mum? Thanks for stealing my Fifty Dollars - Birthday money J*****.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

poor service/items
The Cash Converters at Robina was a mess. No one to help and pricing wasn't as negoatiable as I thought it would be once I got someones attention. Place was dusty and items seemed to come out from garage sales. A store needs to be professional no matter what they serve.
not much at all
poor service and overpriced items

Bargains galore
When I said no to overpriced new wii games the kids dragged me to look at 2nd hand ones at Ebee games. These were also overpriced and we ended up at our local cash converters store. What a find!
huge selection of games & accessories at a fraction of new price. They had wii, play station & Xbox . Once the kids saw how much they could get for their money they were converted too. They save up & buy iPods &DVD's there too. I even got a newish IPad.
Mauve array of goods and all cheap
