Avoid like the plague
If I could give 0 stars, I would. Porting of the first one took one week (without service) and about ten phone calls. There was no direct number provided by Coles Mobile for assistance and the Optus phone 'path' didn't give any option to talk to a person. Had to go through 'Coles'' phone directory where they put me through, each time.
Three months later and now that our time is up, just tried to port number elsewhere and was rejected by Coles Mobile/Optus as our service was 'inactive', apparently. It wasn't - doesn't expire for another tw...Read more
o days. Their records show that I 'haven't had a service with Optus since 2013.??????? Anyway, they did fix that quickly - though, after more phone calls. And we are now with another provider and very happy.

- Verified customer
You cannot turn off voicemail as a Coles Mobile customer.
If you dislike recorded voicemail, please be advised there is no feasible way to turn it off as a Coles Mobile customer. The 1509 dial menu does not work for voicemail disabling, even though it is on the Optus network. The Optus app does not allow you to change the setting either. You end up stuck with voicemail. Customer service did not know how to help either. They are in Manila and cannot do anything more than a Google search.
The service is only a bargain for the first three months. Further recharges after that become pricey again, and you gotta port the number out at that point. It was very very difficult for me to port the number over to Coles Mobile. Too many calls to overseas customer service. Not worth the effort.

Excellent value for money and customer service
Guys, if you are porting in house (Optus to Coles mobile) please call. Dont do it online. Other networks (eg. Telstra or Vodafone) you can do it online. Its very quick and easy. Give Coles mobile a try. Seriously value for money and excellent service.

Great Service
Just recharged after using the service for 12 months. It has been great with no problems for the outset. I recommend it to everyone. Some have said the original set up is a pain, but not for me I'm pleased to say.

Excellent Value - Pretty Reasonable Service - If a bit painful and cumbersome to activate
My family has 3 services with Coles Mobile since June 2018.
The first porting in 2018 was a nightmare to complete, but it taught me a few tricks, which made the other 2 a pain free transition. I've written these tricks further down in this review.
Apart from that initial nightmare, everything has been great. Decent coverage with the Optus network. 4G speeds are as expected. And when Coles put these cards on sale, they are an absolute bargain. The 3 of us purchased 365 day expiry packs for $130 (they are normally $180) in June this year. So we...Read more
have unlimited calls, txt, mms and 48Gb for under $11 a month. Their initial customer service was a joke, because they had this Coles only contact team. But it seems they have moved to using regular Optus prepaid customer service once you call the 1300 number, which is far better. Now, for those of you who want to know how to smoothly port to Coles Mobile, here is how I did it.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

GARBAGE
I purchased coles mobile prepaid yesterday. nightmare communicating with the dingbats @ support. NO IDEA. still no service 12hrs after activation.
NOTE: A reference to all who are not aware, it really helps you and everyone if you report your issue to the "communication ombudsman" in your state!!

Doing OK
Porting was not hard. It's actually Optus running it. Tried 35 days and better than Telstra in our areas. Perhaps too many people using Telstra. It's too slow. However, Optus networks are way better.

No service
I wish I read these reviews before I have purchased a Coles prepaid SIM card. Optus and Coles are playing dumb. Coles gets the money and Optus gets 'see, you shouldn't leave' satisfaction out of this. Otherwise they Optus would do something about it. Briefly, moving from Optus to Coles, although on same network, chances are your replacement SIM card could not be activated. I think these these particular Coles SIM cards should be withdrawn from market. Daylight robbery, no consequences. Yes, I've spent hours on Optus chat/phone/My Account page. Customer service has no idea. I've been asked SIM card number three times during one chat session. We're doomed.

Can't port number
I rang on Thursday to have my number transferred from Optus to Coles mobile (in house transfer so should be very quick right?). I was informed that the process would take 24-48hrs which seems ridiculous as previous ports I've done take less than 15 mins. 48hs later I rang and was told there has been a technical difficulty and my number would transfer in the next 15mins to 4hrs. Today is Wednesday (6days later), my Optus number is now disconnected and my Coles mobile number is still not active. I have been unable to speak with a supervisor or get in contact with the complaints section so made a complaint with ombudsman.

Perfect
I’ve used the Coles mobile for almost a year now. Everything has been perfect. I notice a lot of ppl complaining about having troubles porting their numbers but it only took me 10 minutes to port my number from Vodafone. If you are porting from Optus, please ring them (as stated in their website) instead of doing it online as you are porting in house which is not straightforward (Coles mobile runs on the Optus network). The website also tells you to port during business hours. If you port after hours, it won’t happen until the next business day.

Absolutely hopeless customer service
Bought a coles prepaid sim card which would not activate. We're now 3 days in since my purchase and it still hasn't been sorted out. Was told by one staff member to just "try again". Told by another to go out and buy another sim card. It still does not work. Absolutely fed up and want to give up on the whole process but I can't even get my money back

Extremely Slow porting
My partner and myself were advised 24 to 48 hours for our numbers to be ported from optus to Coles mobile. Coles mobile uses the optus network. They disabled our phone numbers. That was on Friday, today is Thursday and it still is not connected. We have 3 disabled children and are required to contact health providers and services for the kids care.
As both out phones are still out of action we have no phone contact. Very poor form on Coles Mobile.

Coles Prepaid Mobile Sim
Having trouble to get the sim to connect with the existing mobile number after ten days with different customer service and without any phone service. Gave up and reported to telecommunications ombudsman, finally got the cheque refund.
If anyone of you have trouble or issues with Coles Mobile prepaid sim, please don’t give up, lodging your complaint.

Avoid. Waiting for a week and still not activated
I ignored all the negative reviews on here and went ahead with purchasing a $180 coles mobile sim. Huge mistake!
After a week I still haven’t been activated. I requested my old number be ported from Optus to coles mobile, which uses the Optus Network anyway. I was told this would take between 24 and 48 hours. Absolute ridiculous because any other porting requests I have made usually take about an hour max.
Having already spent $180 I was forced to accept these terms reluctantly. Well a week later and still nothing. Called twice to query a...Read more
nd have been told it will be all ready in a couple of hours. Hours and days go by and still nothing. I suggest any others having problems, to send complaints to the telecommunications industry ombudsman. Also feel Coles should be forced to change the activation information on their website. ‘Can take upto 24 hours if you port a number’ - This is incorrect and the consumer should be told it can take 7 days +. No one would touch this deal if they read that.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Can't activate phone
Waiting seven days to activate phone.
Customer service line not helpful.
Optus or Coles allowed to false advertise as their website stipulates no more than 24 hrs activation.

Fabulous never had any issues
Got the 365 day plan for my son and it’s been fabulous for him. Quick activation never had any issues about to renew for our second year. Excellent value for money. Occasional drop outs but very rare. Great coverage. Fast downloads.

I had pretty much the same problems. I ended up not going with them..still have the sim card! I have gone to Vodafone..they had me up and running within 30mins
I would have immediately contacted the company as listed on their website re SMS issues.
If the Wi-Fi is at your home then the password is your issue I would think.

Why is my coles activation sim card taking so long it,s been over 24 hours?
1 answer
If you tried to activate online, it should not take more than a few hours. I would say call the service hotline. it will be Optus call centre, They will have you activated in no time.

Can I get credit other than a coles shop?

Other than the Coles outlets, you have the option of getting credit online via the Coles mobile website. Hope this helps.
