My healthy 8 year old cat had a severe reaction to this drug which caused massive vomiting and paralysis for 3 days. We had to seek emergency veterinary attention as we thought our beloved pet was going to die. I am going to take this further and after liasing with other work colleagues who are in the medical profession they had similar stories after administration of this medication to their cats and dogs. A terrible ordeal for myself and other family members to encounter.

Absolutely Brilliant !
Gave the Comfortis Plus to my Staffy and Alaskan Malamute with full meal as advised.
No problems whatsoever.
Had been using just the Comfortis without the worm treatment in it for a few months but then saw them dragging their bums on the ground so switched to the Plus.
The fleas were already under control from using the Comfortis and now no dragging their butts either. Fantastic!

Has worked well for years
I have been using Comfortis for over 7 years on my 11 year old schnoodle after my trusted vet recommended them. He has never had any problems or side effects. We had a major flea problem that would not go away. It was so bad at one stage that his stomach was covered with fleas and we were getting bitten as well. I tried other flea treatments that just didn't work. I have never seen a flea on him in 7 years.

Made my dachshunds ill
We gave this to our 11 and 12 year old dachshunds a couple of months ago. One of them basically vomited off and on for about two months. The other dog and our beagle did not seem to have any problems with it. We decided not to give to the female who had gotten sick. The fleas and ticks were definitely gone and it lasted longer than we expected. So, we dosed the male and the beagle again two days ago. Last night, my male dachshund, otherwise healthy and proper weight, began vomiting profusely everything he had eaten. It looked like a week's wort...Read more
h of food. I went online to look for answers and settled on giving him some of his canned food with 16 charcoal capsules opened up into the food and stirred in. As far as I can tell this morning, his vomiting has slowed, maybe stopped, but we'll see since the female vomited for weeks after her only dose. Unfortunate as the flea and tick control was good, but not worth losing a dog.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Veterinarians have to be accountable
It is not possible that veterinarians are not telling us the side effects of these drugs and they are getting away with murder. Report them to the board of veterinarians. Also, beware of Apoquel.Stay away from Apoquel Oclacitinib, it is a drug given to dogs for allergies on their paws, skin. It is poisonous drug, if you look it up on drugs.com it will give you thorough information about it. My doggie was assassinated by an unethical veterinarian that did not bother to tell me the lethal side effects, did not give me a print out of it. My dog d...Read more
eveloped a mass near his heart, it erupted and bled internally causing him not able to breathe, his stomach got distended, his stomach was trembling few days after he started on this poison, shame on the FDA, shame on veterinarians, shame on Zoetis Pfizer. Use natural remedies, try homeopathic doctors with caution as always, as even medicinal plants have side effects. Please, do not put your doggies on drugs, steroids like prednisone cause cancer. Cadi injections from Zoetis also are just fraud, only a conditional license, they are experimenting on doggies. I can't stop crying.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Our 9lb cat given 1/2 tablet of Comfortis
Our eleven year indoor 9lb cat yogi, she was itching like crazy. We closely examined the cat's fur with magnifying glass saw nothing took her to the Vet he used a nit comb and found fleas. Vet gave us Comfortis. Since my husband is knowledgeable in chemicals he did not want to give her anything, but a flea bath . Finally decided to cut the pill in half so she took half of the pill. We began seeing few dead fleas within hours. In a few hours I noticed a really strong odor, she smelled like the Comfortis and fishy the smell was so stro...Read more
ng that when she was in the other room I could smell it when we petted her that smell came off into our hands, and her blanket smelled of it . We became very alarmed which led me here, and when I read the reviews I felt like i was going to pass out from sheer fear and shock. that sadly, so many peoples beloved pets died from this stuff. We gave her what they give in the emergency department for poisoning activated charcoal to absorb the poison/toxins. We decided to give her a warm sea salt bath and she soaked in the sink for 20 minutes The sea salt pulls out toxins. We repeatedly poured the warm sea salt water over her, she sat very calmly, then a rinse and dry. The smell had faded. Our Yogi survived . Never, ever again will I just trust someone's opinion without researching the side effects. I also read that this anti fleas pills cut the life expectancy of the pet by a lot, very scary stuffSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great on Dogs but don't use on cats
I use it on my older cavaliers that I don't use for breeding, found it to be good but don't like products they have to digest but with nothing else working i have had to use it, would never use on my cat.

Love It!
My ten pound Pomeranian scratches so badly if he gets one flea, I feel sorry for him. I have used Comfortis for years and it lasts more than 30 days. I give him another dose when he starts to scratch or if I see a flea. I make sure he has eaten a full meal before I give him the dose. He won't eat the pill so I cover it in cheese or canned food and down it goes.

Found it excellent for my boxer, but scared to use on my kitten
I've used all different sorts of flea medication on my boxer and have had poor results. When comfort is first came out I got it & my dog has no fleas or side effects. I also found I only have to give it to him every 2 months. But I'm worried about giving it to my 3 mth old kitten

Made My Dogs Sick
I bought Elanco Comfortis for both my small dogs, A poodle 12 years old and a Spoodle 6 years old. Within 30 minutes both dogs were vomiting.
I emailed the company and they said that unfortunately these things happen and they could not give me a refund.
Not very happy with the customer service, well there wasn't any!

Cat was terribly ill
On Friday night I gave my 4.3kg two year old domestic cat Comfortis. He became very distressed and started panting with his tongue out. He made a strange choking sound as he breathed. I immediately took him to a vet hospital and the vet gave him an antihistamine injection and recommended I take him to vet hospital if his health degenerated overnight. He was floppy and panting most of the night but eventually managed to sleep. He slept most of the weekend and didn't eat very much. He is slowly recovering but I won't be repeating that scary experience.

Scared for my cat
I gave this product to my cat last night for the first time after our local vet recommended it yesterday. The vet did not advise me of any possible side effects. Today the cat is very sleepy, floppy, lethargic.
I AM SCARED>>>>> I wish I was advised of these side effects prior or read site. I'm terrified.

This product should be BANNED
My 4 year old Russian Blue cat received a dose of COMFORTIS on 12/6/16 in the am. I have just came back from the Vet's office 12/7/16 after having him euthanized because he was going into organ failure. This animal was healthy and vibrant and now I have lost him. It kills fleas and animals and should be BANNED.

Did exactly what it stated it would
I have a 9 month old Sibirian Husky and i have tried multipul different drops for fleas on my fur baby and it just didn't work! The fleas were getting so bad i could see them when ever i looked at him. Then he got fixed and the vet noticed how bad they were so she suggested Comfortis as it was what she used for her dogs. Within the first half hour he started figgiting a bit then with in the next few hours dead fleas just dropped off of him! Heaps of them! the next morning we woke up and inspected him really well and couldn't find any except for...Read more
the tonne on the bed where he slept. Its been a week and and there are still a small few of them around in the carpet but once they land on him they are found dead shortly after. Im very happy with the outcome, the packet warns that occationally it can cause vomiting in the forst couple of days but we never had that problem. I suggest if you are looking for something that works and the drops don't, then try this stuff! I was very skeptical of putting this into my dog's body especially after readinf some of these comments but Im not sure if they are legitament and if so they may have just been unlucky.Similar opinion? Minor risk for big results
We have used Comfortis on our kelpie X and couldn't be happier having no side effects whatsoever. We had tried Frontline+ with no results at all, if anything there were more fleas in the following days after applying the Frontline+. We then decided to change to Comfortis after much researching and we're delighted when dead fleas were falling off him within hours of his first dose. Six months later with no follow up and he is still completely flea & itch free. As this product can have a bad interaction with other medications in a small percentag...Read more
e of animals it's worth doing the research first to be sure your pet will not be affected. It is also extremely important that Comfortis is taken with a full meal. All things considered I think Comfortis is definitely the best bang for your buck (Bravecto is apparently great too but is very very expensive). My research showed animals who react badly (although only a tiny percentage) are usually are due to incorrect dosing/application, a certain gene found in herding species which can be tested for before use or the result of other drug interactions. Best of luck.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Comfortis Killed our 1 year old Siberian Cat.
Our 1yr old Siberian cat was an indoor cat. She ate high quality food & was very healthy. She was finally at a good weight for flea medicine. Our vet suggested Comforts but never told us that it could Kill or harm cats. She was healthy before we gave her the pill & then she started throwing up little white spots. Then with in about 4 days she went down hill & on day 5 she started throwing up and pooping hunter green liquid (bile is what we were told) and either had a stroke or seizure. The vet said she was in organ failure & couldn't save her. ...Read more
A $400 vet bill and a $1200 dead cat is what we got out of all of this. My husband and 4 year old son are divested and we have no answers from our vet or the manufacturers of Comfortis. I wish I would have known the risks before i gave her that pill bc if I hadn't she would still be here! They dont see anything wrong with the pill bc only some dogs/cats die but bc not all cats/ dogs die its still safe enough to continue selling it. I hope this helps so you dont have to lose a furry family member!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
