Wonderful and kind customer service.
I would like to thank Ayana at Doncaster Dymocks for her exceptional customer service. I emailed the store to see if they had a novel (my daughter had lost at school) in stock, after replying promptly she looked up a gift card I had in my wallet and after discovering it had expired she very kindly reactivated it. This lovely act of kindness was so thoughtful and I was so grateful during these very stressful times.
Well done Dymocks, I will be recommending your store and relaying this positive experience to as many people as I can.

Interval Weight Loss For Women
Dr Nick Fuller has written another great book.
His scientific approach to optimum health and realistic weight loss is wonderful.
I have Interval Weight Loss For Life, I have enjoyed the book, the tips and the recipes.
I struggle to lose weight and decided to buy IWLFW. It's a great read, it's an integrated model of health.
It's easy to read and stimulating.

Return of unwanted Xmas preset
Returned an unwanted book present to Dymocks Melbourne store along with the return coupon inside the front cover. Person behind the counter wasn’t prepared to accept it back as it had a small crease in the corner of the cover. Floor manager wasn’t available ( how convenient). No good will what so ever . I normally buy my books at Readings and I will continue to do so.

Dymocks' Policy Contradictory
Dymocks' exchange policy is horrendus. The City Store do not accept an exchange note issued by another Dymocks. The Note clearly said, the item can be exchange if not suitable.

Not the best telephone attitude
I called the Belconnen store about a certain grammar book. The response was "I don't know". I asked "are you able to look it up?" Answer: "I am, it isn't here".

Castle Towers store, owner is absolutely shocking and store not child friendly
I took my 8 and 10 year old to the shop to buy books. Whilst trying to convince mh son around which book to pick the lady owner started harrassing and lecturing the 8 year old because she accidentally dropped a small diary. She came into the store happy and left teary. Whilst confronted she shows me the sign around book damage and i asked show me the damage it caused, she said i am no longer welcome in her shop. I will happily oblige, Dymocks if you are not listening to your customers, you will just be another retailer on the news filing for volluntary administration.

good place to browse and buy
Staff are helpful (george street or neautral bay), great selection of books and also knick knacks, particularity in the george street sydney cbd store, which also has very good opening hours. My only complaint would be sometimes some books are a bit pricey.

The most expensive bookstore in Australia
Dymocks is ripping their customers off. Their prices are sky high and they never agree to match other retailers prices. I shopped there few years ago, when we still had Borders and Angus and Roberstons physical stores. Those days they were competing with each other. Now theres only Dymocks as a physical bookstore so they can do whatever they want. Never shop there anymore. I buy my books online or in Kmart and Big W.

Brisbane CBD- Terrible return policy
Bought 2 diaries for my Kids. Found out wife had already bought some. Went back next day to ask for refund but none was given because it was a sale item. Please look at our return policy attach. Who reads these fine prints. Never buying anything from them again, didn't even offer store credit.

Dymocks Burwood - Refund issues - unacceptable customer service
Last week, I bought my son a book at $17.99 only to realise from a friend over coffee another competitor was selling it for $10 just 200 steps from this store. I decided to take the book back for a refund. I had paid for it using a gift card. It never crossed my mind I would ever request for a refund, only to be told by the franchisee herself to either accept the Dymocks store gift card of the value or the high way. She was grossly rude and in full display was her poor behaviour, turning her back and walking away on her own terms. I followed he...Read more
r as she was heading towards the office tucked at the back of the store and an elderly bald looking man came out. He claimed to be the owner of the store. I reasoned with him and requested for a refund. He was hesitant and at first refused to do it, but when I told him I was aware of my right as a consumer, he offered me the store card again, and again I declined flatly. I reminded him of my rights and would like my money back and not be restricted to spending the amount within this bookstore. Finally, he proceeded to reverse my purchase amount into my credit card. He further added he was going to delete my account with them quite abruptly - frankly, I was taken aback. Such a petty shot. A very huge disappointment with this retailer. I shared this incident with other moms after school drop-off earlier this morning in Burwood and another mom had witnessed similar incidents inside the store. Globalise or retire I would say.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Would not exchange a book purchased as a present.
I returned a Xmas present on Dec 27th for a simple exchange as I had already read the book. I did not have the receipt but did have the date, and a copy of a bank statement could have been supplied at a later date all be it with some difficulty. The purchaser is overseas till later this month.
The manager would not have a bar of if even though the book was in perfect condition with the dymocks sticker still attached. I simply wanted a book that I had not read before. She kept pointing to there terms and conditions and would not budge and inch....Read more

Terrible customer services
We were shopping in the shop where one of the staffs was suddenly yelling at our 6 years son only because he was trying to look at the book set at the presentation area. Maybe he was putting both hands pressing on the book set. The staff was firstly yelling at him behind the counter saying "hey, stop!" Then he came towards him yelling that he was trying to rip the plastic cover of the set book values $50. My son said he didn't. For the next hour or so my son was so upset because he was blindly blamed by such a rude guy thinking everyone is going to damage his books. Yelling to a kid is not going to solve the problem. If you has any drama you can directly talk to the parents. Is this how to deal with your customers? Terrible experience.

World's worst book stores?
I have lived in Australia for 7 years and can say that I have never had a good experience with Dymocks. All I hear is "Amazon is killing brick and mortar bookshops" not true, companies like Dymocks are doing it all on their own.
So, what's so bad about Dymocks? Maybe it's the lack of decent book selection, unless of course, you want a sports biography, in that case, you've hit the jackpot. Can you find an up to date business selection? Absolutely not, can you find the latest non-fiction, no, but can we interest you in Fifty Shades? Maybe it'...Read more
s not in the store, but you can find it online, more expensive than Amazon and with a 2 - 5 days shipping time (that's time to ship, not delivery time) Can't find the book on the shelf? Just head to one of their customer computers to search yourself, oh that's right, it's not working or it crashes when you hit the "search" button. Maybe ask an employee? Oh wait, they don't know what's going on either. You get the point, just use Amazon and save yourself a headache.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Continual SPAM messages on my mobile from Dymocks - no option to reply with STOP request
I bought a book from Dymocks North Lakes not so long ago. The cashier asked me if I wanted a Dymocks card. I said OK, on the proviso that I don't get any marketing material. She said this wouldn't happen. Since then I've been bombarded with SPAM messages on my mobile that have no option to reply with a STOP request. I emailed [email protected] but this was ignored. I'll be buying my books from eBay from now on.

Paid way too much !!!
My daughter asked me about the book "Captain underpants" so I went to Dymocks Rouse Hill Town Centre and bought the complete set on Thursday 15/11/18, they are not cheap $90.
I went for shopping at Costco marsden park on the weekend and i was completely shocked when they sold the same exact book for $36.99! This is on special, the normal price is $44.99! Still on normal price its half price what I paid at Dymocks. Im telling my self this is different books, but its not, it is the same exact complete set.
I sent email to Dymocks just explain...Read more
ing this, not asking for refund, but just to get an explanation. after 24hrs, they came back asking more details for ISBN number, I reply and provide all the information, including photos, the barcode and my receipt. And still, i did not ask for refund or anything like that. The next day, they reply, just saying sorry, there is no reason about the price difference. Just sorry... did not offer me anything, I probably would have appreciate $10 store credit, but nothing. Things like this, that makes people stop buying at Dymocks store.Similar opinion?
