Great suction but heavy to operate

published

I have mixed feelings about this vacuum. It works very well - the suction power is great (the best I have ever used), there is a long power cord meaning I dont need to plug and unplug the vacuum too many times when cleaning the house. I dont use the additional pieces very often but when I have I also found them to work well. The issue that I do have is that it is very heavy! There is a bit of a drag as I pull the vacuum around the house, and trying to get it up and down stairs is awkward and tiring. I would still recommend the vacuum but perhaps not if it is for multiple storey homes.

Good at sucking

published

We finally decided to bite the bullet and buy a Dyson vacuum cleaner. It is loud but does an exceptional job. Has good suction, and has good interchangeability with its added components. Some of the fittings seen flimsy but haven't broken yet! I'm happy with purchase and would buy again.

Vacum that does Suck!

published

Purchased this a year ago and it’s still have a very powerful suction till today compared to a couple of other brands that I have used in the past. Easy to install and used. I find the barrel system quite easy to empty after used and its does carpets really well. It’s small and compact to store in the linen cupboard. Quite happy with this little gem.

Great Buy

published

I bought my vacuum around 5 months ago and I think it works very well. This is the first Dyson I have owned and I wouldn't go back to any other brand. I bought it on special at the time which helped as they are an expensive purchase. The bag-less catchment is very easy to empty and the vacuum is easy to move around the house.

Very good

published

This is a very good vacuum. It has great suction power, an extendable handle so no bending and a long cord so not plugging it in multiple times around the house. I like that I don't have to worry about buying bags but I hate having to empty the barrel. It comes with a scraper to help clean it but you really need a brush to get all the dust out.

Awesome vacuum cleaner

published

Mine is still going strong after 5 years. It has outlasted all of my previous vacuum cleaners. Does what it claims to do, no loss of suction and it's super easy to tip out the dust. I would definitely recommend a Dyson, it's a fabulously good investment and much better than the cheaper brands.

Simply the best!

This is a product that proves quality is more important than price. You may pay that bit extra but when it comes to using it you will be happy that you didn't get that cheap one, especially when it comes to cleaning it. It is very well engineered & worth the extra expense.

Reliable vacuum cleaner

published

Bought this dyson in 2015 and it's performance has been consistent. It has great suction and picks up most dust and hair easily. It is easy to move around too and also easy to clean. This is the easiest to clean vacuum cleaner i have ever used and although price is slightly more expensive compared to other brands, for long term wise, Dyson vacuum cleaner is one of the most reliable family brands.

Heavy duty

published

I’ve owned this for 5 or 6 years now. it’s a heavy duty machine, which means it has not lost its suction and works well but very heavy to drag around. It’s reliable for good results on all floor types. Due to the hassle of cord and weight, I’m not using it as often as I’d like.

I wouldn't go for any other vacuum cleaner

published

The buck stops at the Dyson. You won't need to go to any other brand after using this vacuum cleaner. We have 2 brm apartment full of carpet, and yake me half hour a week to vacuum the whole place. If I had any other machine, it would probably take me closer to an hour. And knowing the amount of dust it picks, keeps me reassured it's doing a fantastic job. Great product!

Great Value for money

published

Much cheaper than other brands of similar value. Works just as good if not better than the other much more expensive vacuum cleaners.
It is light and easy to move around using it's wheels so getting it up/down stairs is quite simple making vacuuming so much easier than with heavier machines.

The best

published

I've been through a few vacuums in my life and when I purchased the Dyson at a reasonable price, it hasn't let me down at all. It got an old mat of mine which took up the whole lounge room really clean, so clean it looked new, its good for pets (their hair) and if regularly vacuuming, it swivels around for you and is convenient, I will never buy another brand other than Dyson again, I haven't had any problems and its all good for me. :) I highly recommend the Dyson!

Does the job

After much research settled on a mid price product and very happy.
Great suction, easy to clean and put back together.
Bit noisy, but not as noisy as my previous vax.
Vacuuming large house two story, timber floor, vinyl floor and carpet - all cleaned no problems.
Not too heavy - not a problem to lug it upstairs - quite light.
Good length power cable as well.

I received an amazing gift

published

Love this cleaner as it is lightweight, am tired of lugging around heavy vacuum cleaners that just don’t go the direction that you need. Power head is wonderful, sucks up heaps of sand which is the Bain of my life. My dream is to get an upright which will be even easier on my back. This cleaner was an excellent gift to me.

Hi,
My Dyson DC37 is four years old. I'm finding I need to clean the filter just about every time I vacuum now. Do I need a new filter?
Thank you

We certainly wouldn't expect you to need to wash the filter every vacuum and will be happy to help.

Please forward your details and the serial number of your machine to our Dyson Experts via [email protected]. We will be in touch shortly to help get this sorted.

We are in almost the exact same situation, but our dc37c is only 3 years old.

DC37C Multi Floor

I have received a DC37C for Christmas and want to know if it is good for picking up cat fur. If there is a better machine, what would it be?

3 answers

Hello Julz, Honestly i do not own any pets so i could not answer that, but in general i have had my for a few years now and not 1 issue, Picks everything up off the floor as it is meant to do.
I can not see why it would not pick up cat fur.

Hi Julz,

Thank you for your query.

While the floor tool for the DC37C is effective on carpets and floors, for removing pet hair, a head with rotating brushes to capture this will be more effective.

For your DC37C, a Turbine Head is available as an accessory to provide this powerful cleaning. To order, please just give us a call on 1800 239 766 with your machine handy. Our helpline is open Monday - Friday 8am - 7pm and Saturday - Sunday 8:30am -4pm EDST. At time of writing, these are available for $129.

Best wishes,

Shan

Hi Julz,
This machine is not good for cat hair. We have two cats (short & medium hair) who shed a lot. Our downstairs area is tiled where most of the fur collects. Whilst the suction is good the multi floor head that comes in the box is awful. It seems to push debris around rather than suck it up and the fur gets caught in all the bristles. I spend more time pulling cat fur (and other junk) out of the bristles than I spend vacuuming. It's not pleasant. Hope this helps although it sounds like you're going to be out pf pocket if you actually want to use the vacuum effectively.

DC37C Multi Floor

Which is better model the DC376 multi floor or the UP16 multi floor?

1 answer
Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Cath,

Thank you for your question.

It is quite hard to compare these models as one is an Upright and one is a Barrel machine. When choosing between a Barrel and Upright we always find it best to recommend to stick with what you are used to as the transition can be tricky.

Both machines are suitable for both carpets and hard floors however the UP16 comes with a spinning brush which will provide superior pickup on carpet. If you have the majority of your flooring in your home as hard floors we'd recommend the DC37C.

So we can provide you the best advice and answer your specific questions we'd recommend for you to contact our helpline on 1800 239 766 directly. Our helpline is open Monday - Friday 8am - 7pm and Saturday - Sunday 8:30am - 4pm EST.

Best wishes,

Samuel
