Not overly happy
Suction lost product lasted 4 years, waste of money in my opinion, would have been better off purchasing several cheaper items. Not worth the name they try make it live up to. Handle ended up loose turbo head doesn't even spin anymore. Will not purchase another in the future and will not recommend.

Wish I could leave -5 stars!
Won't bother writing much as I unfortunately bought the same piece of rubbish, $700 vacuum with a 3 year life span, as all the other reviews.my experience: sucks good for a month as long as you clear out the blockages in throat every 10 minutes. Gradually gets worse even though you follow the service guidelines until eventually the motor screams, smokes then dies, typically just out of the warranty period. BUY AN ELECTROLUX.

Not living up to the name
After wanting to own a Dyson for it's powerful suction i was disappointed that its performance didn't live up to the hype. Starting with the positives, the vacuum is very easy to move around easy to put together. Performance is ok as will pick up most things from tiled floors. The negatives, the vacuum is not good at picking up hair from carpet, the plastic parts are a little flimsy. Considering the price point of Dyson and performance i would not recommend this product.

Powerful vacuum, slightly clunky
Powerful vacuum, able to pick up everything (including all my long hairs) with no issue however I found it slightly clunky and awkward to manouvre around at times. Quite heavy and sometimes just found it too hard to bring out for a small clean up. Overall still a great vacuum and does what it is advertised to do.

Very expensive machine requiring expensive replacement part
Like many I invested in a Dyson vacuum cleaner expecting a long lasting, effective machine. However after 5 years it no longer works and requires a $120 replacement triggerhead. Definitely not worth the money! The problem is that after making that big initial investment I feel compelled to persevere with what is already an annoying machine - the ongoing cleaning and maintenance is time consuming and the constant need to clear the brush of hair whilst vacuuming is really annoying.

Not worth the money
I've had this machine since 12/2014. I was told to invest in a good vacuum when I got my big hairy dog. Definitely made a bad choice. Turbine head replaced. Filters replaced twice. Cyclone assembly replaced once and the faults repeats. Now I have to go through the not so wonderful Customer Service again. And I agree with the other reviewers, frequently clogs up. Can't even pick up anything that is not dust without clogging up. The only way to unclog is to remove 2 screws. Who's got time for that?

Lots of trouble for the big price
We decided to buy a Dyson after trialing one and being being very happy with the suction. The suction is still good after 41/2 years, but only when the vacuum isn't clogged (which happens frequently). We have had the foot replaced (which Dyson did for us even though it was just out of warranty) but then last year also had to replace the trigger head wand at our own cost. Today the motor has blown, lots of loud noises and then an electrical/burning smell. We paid over $700 and expected it to last much longer than 4 1/2 years. Just not good enou...Read more
gh! From reading other comments it seems that there have been some serious design flaws with this model, (hence the frequent clogging, broken parts, and blown motor) and I notice this model is now discontinued. Perhaps Dyson should be doing something for their unsatisfied and disappointed customers.1 comment

Never thought it would die so soon!
Yesterday my beloved dyson motor passed away. It has been out of warranty for just over a year. I should have kept my last dyson. It was a trooper. It just went on and on. Until this one died for no apparent reason it was running like a dream. Wasn't doing anything different for it to pass away. It's life consisted of 5 large carpeted bedrooms, 2 cars and a tiled area of approx 200sqm. Was vacuuming one of the five rooms in our house and a smell started to fill the room and before i could turn it off it was lights out. Now I'm on the hunt for a...Read more

Worst vacuum ever
This is an absolute waste of money!!! Tips over, clogs up, loses suction, not user friendly at all and definitely not worth the money!! Dyson vacuums are very overrated!!! They are generally a waste of money as they only last a few years and when warranty is up, they only help Dyson give you is to buy a new unit!!! Shocking product, shocking company!!

Been a very good vacuum
Wow - I think I must have been lucky wit hthe DC39 that we have gotten, because our's so far (touch-wood), has been good. I'm sorry to read about all the other customers who have had a dud vacuum - that's really shocking! If ind the noise level to be no different to other vacuums that I have had. Can move well around furniture and cleans well on the tile and carpet floors in my house. I would empty the vacuum every two weeks, just out of my own habits. Cleaning the filter, I don't see a big difference in the suction pressure though.

Poor Design - Clogs Up Easily
This vacuum is great for general day-to-day cleaning but don't expect anything too great from it.
The wand trigger attachment which controls the amount of suction isn't designed to last at all. Already I have had 2 of this particular part replaced. The spring mechanism that controls it wears out very quickly which prevents the turbo head from spinning & it's not designed to last either. If it gets accidentally dropped onto a hard floor, be prepared to fork out at least $100 for a replacement because it can't be fixed unless you know how to pu...Read more

OK, with caveats. Would expect better materials for the money.
I keep bying Dysons, which says something I guess. Maybe I'm just a sucker for the advertising. Given how expensive they are, I'm always disappointed by how flimsy and plastic they are. Having said that, I bought the DC39 Animal a few years ago now and I haven't had any problems with breakage, and I guess the plastic keeps the weight down. The "animal" version simply means the addition of a rotating attachment for removing pet hair from carpets, rugs, car mats etc. It works as advertised, but is much smaller than a regular brush head. to concentrate the suction power. As for the regular rotating brush head, it's not powered by an independant motor but by the suction of the vacuum itself. Given the law of conservation of energy, this of course means that suction is reduced in order to spin the brush. A power head will always beat it, hands down. My mum had one on her old Electorlux and it was amazing! I think I'll probably go that direction next time, or maybe a backpack vac.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Terrible
I am the type of person who never writes reviews whether they be positive or otherwise. I am compelled to do so in this case.
We purchased this terribly expensive vacuum a little over three years ago with extended warranty from the good guys. Both of our children suffer from asthma so we thought we should probably invest in the best machine we could afford at the time.
We were very happy with its performance at first but not soon after the lack of quality became evident. Within 2 years of use the handle had broken and we were sent the spare ...Read more

Service of our DC39 Vacuum
We had a DC39 vacuum for 3 and 1/2 years when a problem arose with what appeared to me as the motor. I was offered an option to take in for a $65 service + parts. I was a bit scepitcal but my wife, Maria said it would be worth it. and it definitely was. We took it to Osbourne Park, Perth depot and the lady there said she will get it sorted and we left it to her. She called me back within an hour and said it was fixed and would only charge the service fee of $65 as it was nothing major.

Absolutely Shocking...Very Disappointed
I purchased a Dyson DC39 for Good Guys, almost 4 years ago.It cost me over $700.It was fantastic for the first 2 years. Then came the loss of suction. The cyclone broke down after 3.5 years, so I replaced it..no problems. But the suction still wasn't that great.Contacted Dyson and was told $80 service fee, plus postage and then we will give you a costing to repair. Not one week after that the motor blew up.I was vacuuming my house ( no cats, dogs or small children ) so only general dust etc.when the Dyson turned off and then on, made a pop sound and...Read more

Thank you for reviewing your DC39 Multi Floor model. ... Read more
Firstly, we are sorry to read that your machine's motor has blown. It is very strange for a machine's motor to fail if the correct maintenance has been carried out throughout it's lifetime. We wanted to get in touch to clarify our support options, as it seems as though there may have been some miscommunication regarding our service process. Once outside the warranty period, Dyson will provide an obligation free inspection and quote for the repair. This means that there is no upfront costs or pressure to have your machine repaired, we will simply conduct an inspection and quote. If the quote is accepted, we can repair your machine for the cost of $85.00 + parts. If you do not wish to go ahead with the service, we will simply return the machine to you free of charge or recycle it within our centre. If you would like to arrange an obligation free inspection, please reach out to our customer care helpline on 1800 239 766. sts,my situation is not unique and Dyson is not the reliable brand is used to be . As an added postscript,I purchased a new electrolux( bagless). The first time I used it, I had to empty it out after every room I vacuumed ( I kid you not),in every single room I was getting 1/2 to 3/4 of a bin full of dust and dirt( and I have always regulary vacuumed my house every 2nd day)..that tells you exactly how long the poor performance of the Dyson had been going on for!In the week since, I have collected 1/2 a bin full of dust ( over vacuuming the entire house). Dyson..take responsibilty for your poor equipment and please stop trying to pass the blame onto the consumer, poor customer service etiquette.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Absolutely shocking
After my first dyson blew up after 7 yearrs I thought I would stand by dyson and pay big money to purchase this one. After 2.5 years it got a burning smell and blew up. Dyson honoured the warranty and replaced the motor. That was last november and now the same thing has happened. Dyson say I should have replaced the filter. So much for them being life guaranteed. 3.5 year's is all I got out of it after paying $670. After reading these reviews it seems they have been designed to only last 3 years. I think this is a fair go issue

You'll spend your life unscrewing it just to unclog it
This vaccum is fantastic! Sucks up dirt really well...until you suck up that inconspicuous piece of Lego your kids left on the floor.
This isn't just like your regular vacuum where you pull the middle off to unclog it, the part that leads into the dust catcher is ridiculously narrow. To unclog it, you need to remove screws and sometimes stick a coat hanger down there to dislodge bits that have stuck there. I seem to spend more time unclogging this machine than I do vacuuming.
Getting my kids to do the vacuuming is a small night mare as they constantly get it clogged.
I spent so much money on this machine too. If it weren't for that horrifically narrow passage way to the dust collector, this would be a great vacuum cleaner.

Sounds like most Dyson vacuums are designed to last 3 years
BANG, SMOKE and its gone. For a machine that is at the top end of the price ladder for vacuums, did not make to much of an impression. I was forever cleaning out the bend at the end of the hose leading up to the barrell.
Very disappointed, and think I will definitely look at another brand.

Worst design for such an expensive brand
There was loud roaring noise Followed by a burning smell and then GONE. There goes an overpriced vacuum. I might just go back to the mainstream brand, at least they're cheap enough to replace.
It was my second dyson, the first one was superb. Easy to clean, no mess. And it lasted years.
This one, DC39 was a major disappointment. It's messy to clean and the suction gets weaker just with the slightest blockage.
And then, it just suddenly stop working. Not gonna invest again another $1000 for such an unreliable machine.

Spare Triggerhead turbine heads are certainly available and can be purchased via this link: https://shop.dyson.com.au/spare-parts/triggerhead-923181-03
That being said, we do encourage running through the troubleshooting if yours isn't working as you'd expect. You can find the troubleshooting for this here: https://www.dyson.com.au/SupportHome/Vacuums/Cylinders/DC39/22411-01/troubleshooting/check-the-floor-tool

Does anyone know which head attachment for the Dc39 you use for high pile carpet?
3 answers
Dyson Team ..Dyson
While we would encourage contacting your flooring manufacturer for their advice, the Musclehead or Turbine head provided with your DC39 machine is designed to provide powerful carpet cleaning.
If you find it isn't working as you'd expect, or you have any queries, our Dyson Experts are available via [email protected] and only happy to help.
The head that comes with the Dyson dc39, absolutley is not for high pile carpet. The brush almost stops, and you cannot push the vacuum over the carpet freely without struggle. This head is more for low pile, to burbur, to hard floors. There is no adjustment for higher thicker pile carpeting.
Dyson Team ..Dyson
So we can further assist, we would encourage emailing our Dyson Experts via [email protected] and we will be happy to help.
We also encourage contacting your flooring manufacturer to confirm their advice on what style floor tool would be best for your specific carpets.

The 2 rotors on the small attachment for animal hair on dc39 aren't spinning. Can you tell me how to rectify this?

As the turbine head is driven by suction power, this can often occur if there is a lack of airflow through the machine.
We would kindly ask you to review the troubleshooting below which should help:
