Hi there!
This question was asked already, but not fully addressed. My Dyson doesn't stop blowing hot air when reaches the desired temperature and regularly overheats my room (not always but often enough). I usually set it to 21°C but it won't stop heating even when it's 22°C (as read in the Dyson Android app). I understand that a bit of air needs to pass through at all time but it won't even slow down or reduce the temperature of the blown air. It just continues heating with full power.
Is there anything I can do?

Hi Gabor,

Thank you for your query. We are happy to help.

This does sound unusual. In your scenario above, it is usual that it continues blow warm air when the machine shows a temperature of 21°C but should shut off the heating elements and slow the fan right down at 22°C.

We would kindly ask you to email [email protected] with your details and our Dyson Experts will be happy to look into this further.

Did you resolve this? We have the same issue where if we set to 21, it will still say on the app “heating to target 21” even when the room is at 22. The temperature also varies from our baby monitor which always says the room is even warmer. When it is eventually stopped, I can feel cool air blowing out the sides?!? Just wondering as I sent this for service once and they said the machine was fine. Dyson have offered to service it again but I don’t know if there is any point if they are just going to say it’s fine again?

I few times my hot and cool purifier machine powered itself off. Are there any situations that would cause the machine to completely power down (not standby mode)? Or what would cause that to occur?

Hi Heidi,

Thank you for your query.

Should the machine actively heat without being turned off for 8 hours, it will turn off as a safety precaution. This can be overridden by turning the machine back on by using the remote, the Dyson Link app, or the button on the front of the machine.

I hope this helps, however if your machine shuts down prior to the 8 hour mark or we can assist further, please email [email protected] and our Dyson Experts will be in touch to help.

We are having the same issue. We just created a schedule that runs every day. A morning from 6am to 2pm, then an evening from 2pm to 10pm, and then a night from 10pm to 6am. All three schedules are set for every day.

Since this fan doesn't use any fuel and its heating element doesn't get very hot, i'm not sure what the safety issue is. It doesn't blow out very hot air at all but does a great job keeping our sun room (full of plants) at 60F during the winter.

My Dyson pure hot+cool makes some noises after every time I switch it off. It seems like there is still a very small quantity of air coming out and does a little noise which at night might result disturbing for some people. it stops if I unplug completely the machine.
Any idea?

Hi Roby,

Thank you for your question.

To continually graph the air for the Dyson Link App the machine will run at a very low setting to pass air over the sensor. You can turn this feature, 'Continous Monitoring', off in the settings menu of your Dyson Link App however when the machine is off it will no longer monitor and graph air quality.

If you require any further assistance please email [email protected].

Hi Roby your fan is in continuous monitoring mode you can turn this off

In regards to the fan running, There is a setting in the Dyson Link App called "Continuous monitoring". This will continue to pass air over the sensor to graph the air quality and detect the temperature when on standby mode, which will keep the fan running to keep collecting data. Be assured the amount of energy used for this is very little.

Should you wish to turn this off, press the cog in the top right hand corner of your Dyson Link app, then press "Your Machines Settings" and turn off Continuous Monitoring.

Thank you. Problem solved!

One more question: is it normal that on heating mode and fan speed 1 is still quite noise? Even though it’s on night mode?
On cooling mode fan speed 1 is very quite, at night you barely hear it.

I’m trying to purify my daughters room and it takes hours and still no green A but when I move it to the living room it purifies in a short time. Why is this?

3 answers

Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Dean,

Thank you for your query.

If the machine shows a white A, it indicates the machine is still detecting pollutants in the air and working to filter these out. While the room is smaller, there could be sources from in the room that are causing the machine to sense a lower air quality and continue working.

I hope this helps, however if we can assist further, please email [email protected] and our Dyson Experts will be happy to help.

I have a similar same issue, in on end of my bedroom the air quality goes green in minutes, in the other end, near my bed it is always fair... frustrating as I'm suffering with allergies... it has been on for 6 hours went green for one hour after 4 hours on and then fair again... or the air quality here is pretty bad only in half of my 15sq m2 room or this thing does not work as it should...

Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

While the air quality is measured in real time, it is normal for it to fluctuate, even if the machine isn't moved.

For some environments, the machine may need to contine running for an extended period of time or even continuously to keep the air between the good and fair.

Should you wish to discuss this further, our Dyson Experts are available via [email protected] and happy to help.

Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Mark,

Thank you for your query.

The Dyson Pure Hot+Cool Link's filters will last 4300 hours of active purification (by active we mean the machine filtering air, not in standby or monitoring mode) as whenever the machine is moving air around, it is purifying it.

Should this time have passed, we encourage replacing the filter when prompted to by the machine and app. You can find the filters for our purifiers via this link: https://shop.dyson.com.au/accessories

i have a Dyson fan that continues oscillating even though it’s powered off. I had to turn it off at the wall switch to stop it oscillating. I googled possible fixes but it seems this issue with oscillation is world wide as I gather from this discussion thread https://mobile.twitter.com/askdyson/status/775458005726953476?lang=en

Is there a fix to this issue, other than expecting th customer to send their Dyson in for a service. I noticed the oscillation issue only started when I connected the fan to Wifi (link). It was working fine without network connection. Can you please advise what the cause of the issue is? Thanks -

Hi I have the dyson pure link tower which I bought yesterday. I'm wondering why the fan goes on high in auto mode, and stays on high when the app shows that the air quality is in fact good! Also, how can I customize Auto mode and air quality settings in the app?

Thanks!

1 answer
Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Sam,

Thank you for your query.

If your machine is heating the room to the target temperature, this is to be expected as the machine will turn on a medium level fan speed to heat, while the app and machine display report good air quality.

To change the air quality target, please open the App, press the Settings cog in the top right corner and press "Your machine's settings". Scroll down and you will find "Air Quality Target". This section will explain the air quality target and allow you to change it. That being said, we recommend not changing it for 7 days, to allow the machine to calibrate it's sensor in your home.

Dyson

Hi Pen,

Thank you for your query.

The Dyson Pure Hot+Cool Link™ purifier heater can purify the air in any size room. The bigger the room, the longer the machine will take to purify it as there is more air in the room. As you mentioned, In a room of 13m², the purifier heater will purify the room in 27 minutes. In a smaller room, it will take less time to purify the air; in a bigger room, it will take longer to purify the air.

I hope this helps, however if you have any queries, please email [email protected] and our Dyson Experts will be happy to assist further.

Recently bought this unit to help with my sons asthma but the purifier shuts down after 2 minutes of being on. Put it in the kitchen when we were cooking (and there were onions being chopped and gas stove was on and again it shut down after 2 minutes. Why?

2 answers

I was told that as long as its on, its purifying the air. The fan bit (hot or cold) is the bit that shuts down when it reaches the desired temperature. Thats what Dyson told me when I asked because I also needed to make sure it was still purifying the air.

Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Lee,

Thank you for your query.

To ensure your machine is set to sense the air quality and react accordingly, please press the "Auto" button on the remote and look for a green or white "A" on the display. The green A indicating the air is at the air quality target, while the white A indicating the machine is working towards the target.

If this mode has been selected and the machine isn't reacting as you'd expect, please email [email protected] and our Dyson Experts will be happy to further assist.

Basically the fan is always running albeit very low and completely off but plugged in.

When I power off the thing I want it completely off but that is not the case here.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

I Turn it off and go real close to find it's still running very low. I'll try emailing the address but so far we are having to unplug to get it to completely stop.

Hi there,

Thanks for your question.

It sounds as if your machine is currently located in a large room.

The machine will purify the air in a 13 metre square room in 27 minutes, if the room is larger it will take longer.

On heat mode the machine is set to a thermostatically controlled target temperature, the machine will push out warm air until the room reaches this temperature, then the warm air will switch off until the room temperature drops below the target then it will start to warm the room again. The larger the room the longer it will take to reach the target temperature and the maximum room size for heating is 36 square metres. Setting the target temperature higher does not make the room emit hotter air, it emits the same warm temperature air for longer.

If you have any further questions or if you need assistance please email us at [email protected] and we will be happy to help.

is it an actual air conditioner?

3 answers
Denis
Denis

No, not at all. You will see in the answer to other questions here that Dyson markets the word “cool” very well. It only has the functions of a basic fan.

Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Elsie,

Thanks for your question.

In Heat Mode, the Pure Hot + Cool Link purifier is set to a selected thermostatically controlled target temperature, the machine will continue to push out warm air until the room reaches this temperature, then the warm air will switch off. When the room temperature drops below the target temperature, the machine will start to warm the room again.

In Cool Mode, the machine is not thermostatically controlled and functions essentially as a powerful fan, circulating room temperature air. As it does not contain refrigerants or drip trays which are required for air conditioning, it is physically unable to reduce the room to a colder temperature, but will feel cooler due to the air movement.

If the machine is emitting air it is purifying and removing potentially harmful gases and particles, for example it will take 27 minutes to purify the air in a 13 metre square sized room.

If you have any further questions please email our experts at [email protected] we will be more than happy to help.

No, it is a fan and air purifier. If it’s a hot summer’s day I use the proper aircon to cool the room then switch it off to save money on electricity and use the Dyson fan to blow the air around to feel cooler than not using a fan. I actually have a separate Dyson fan I have used for three years. This summer I can use the cool link to purify the air while fanning it. Hope this makes sense to you.
