I have Dyson 5hat is for hot and cold setting I have had it for a year and now I noticed that it is blowing warm air at times when on cool setting, any idea why?

Hi there,

Thanks for your question.

The Hot + Cool machines are designed to push out room temperature air when on the cool setting, so if it is a warm day the air coming out may feel warm. If the air coming out is warmer than the room itself we would need to inspect the machine to determine the cause.

Please email our Dyson experts at [email protected] including your contact details, the machine's serial number and a description of the issue and we will be happy to help.

Hi there,

Thank you for your query.

If the Dyson Pure Hot+Cool Link is set to a temperature lower than ambient air temperature, the intelligent thermostat will keep the machine in monitoring mode. When the temperature lowers below the selected temperature, the machine will power on to raise the temperature back up to the selected temperature.

I hope this helps, however if we can assist further please email [email protected] and our Dyson Experts will be in touch to help.

Just bought this yesterday. While using it for heating last night we set the fan to heat mode with target temperature of 22 degrees. The room never got above 20 degrees which is ok but the machine actually turned itself off after around 9 hours of operation. So we woke up around 4am and the machine was off. I can confirm the fan was set to diffused mode, auto disabled, night mode on with oscillation enabled. The fan was set to level 3 and tilted up slightly. No schedules are enabled for the machine and it's linked to our home wifi.

This doesn't appear to be normal, could you please advise if this seems like a fault?

1 answer
Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Dev,

Thank you for your question.

It is a safety feature of the machine to turn itself off after 9 hours of continuous operation on the heater mode. If you turn it off then on again this should reset the timer on the machine and ensure it won't turn off in the middle of the night when it is most needed.

We hope this helps, if you require any further assistance please don't hesitate to email us at [email protected].

It might be worth going to a store that has them on display. ... and see if the nose is the same. I have to admit, anything above a level 4 i found quote noisy initially but I've got used to it now and being on 10 doesn't bother me. ... but it's more of a hummmm than a buzzing.
Worth going and checking out a working one in store to compare it.
Alternatively, run it whilst you're not in the room or at home. ...

Hi Stephen,

Thank you for your question.

It can run 24/7 however if being used on heat it will automatically cut out after 8 hours as a safety measure. If you turn it off and on this will reset the 8 hours.

Hi there. I got the purifier in a baby expo and place it in our room where the baby is sleeping. the reason why i got this was to minimize the dust particles. I feel our room is still dusty as ever and even though the dyson app tells me the air is "good" it doesnt look good at all, i see particles in the air.....i just want to know if the dyson is supposed to catch
the dust?

5 answers
Wendy
Wendy

It should do. .. to some degree. It certainly wouldn't replace vauuming though (you still need to do that). I think I've found that whenever we go in to a room, we do stir dust up around us a bit and then sometimes the reading will spike.
If you place the dyson somewhere near the dust you are seeing, you should see it pulling it in. ...
Have a look on you tube for dyson smoke test. ... good way to see how it works

Abdoul

I m not sure where it will catch the Dust. Contact their customer support

Wendy
Wendy

The dust is meant to be caught in the Hepa filter (which is in the larger part of the base) - you can see it if you push the buttons at the side and lift the outer part of the base up. They are fairly standard for all air filters i believe.
Perhaps consider doing a super thorough clean of the room - and then using the dyson for maintenance. It doesn't replace vacuuming... but the fan is likely to stir up some dust (and you would then hope that the base will suck that stuff in).
If you're concerned... maybe try running it on setting 10 whilst the baby isn't in the room.... maybe for an hour or something... then lower it when the baby goes back in there.

In Hot mode, the fan speed (noise) 1 is similar to 5 in cold mode, and Night mode doesn't work. Is it normal?

1 answer
Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Joe,

Thanks for your question, this is not what we would expect. The machine will not heat if the target temperature is set to lower then the current room temperature. Setting the target higher will make the machine start pushing out warm air. The noise level should be similar whether heating or on fan mode.

Please email our Dyson experts at [email protected] including your contact details, the machine's serial number and a description of the issue and we will be happy to help.

No. The product doesn't actually cool like it says it does. It just blows air. If you change heat setting to 1 degree it seems to get confused and blows fan at a very low speed .

AnLeal
AnLeal

No, it will not do it, as Dyson have explained before the machine is an overly expensive fan, not an actual aircon unit. It's great as a heater, even better at cleaning the air but cooling is one thing it does not do, despite what the box suggests.

Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Matt,

Thank you for your query.

Just to confirm, while the Dyson Pure Hot+Cool Link will heat a room, it doesn't contain any refrigerants and doesn't function as an air conditioner. It will cool you similar to a normal fan using the wind chill effect. That being said, if an air conditioner is in the room, the Pure Hot+Cool Link can help move the already cooled air around the room more effectively.

We hope this helps, however, if we can assist further, please email [email protected] and we will be happy to help.

Hi Mike,

Thank you for your query.

The Dyson Pure Hot+Cool Link always works as a purifier, regardless of if you are using it in fan mode or heater mode. There is no way to disable the purification.

Hi Caz,

The filter costs $99 with free postage, it will need to be replaced after 4300 hours of use. If using the machine for 12 hours a day this is approximately once a year.

I did not have to pay for the filter as Dyson replaced it. Please note I bought the product and received from day one a faulty machine. I have it back now and I still find that it still has not much power with the fan. A lemon product and I definitely never ever looking to buy any Dyson products.

How effective Dyson Pure Hot+Cool is as a heater? I tried to set the target room temperature to 20˚C (it was around 11˚C during the night) and I let the machine ran for a couple of hours in a not-really-that-big living room, but the room temperature could only go up to 15-6˚C. Was I expecting too much?

I never used it to warm a room. I use it to blow some warm air around to make the lounge a bit more comfortable when watching TV in winter.

Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Jasper,

Thank you for your question.

There are many different variables that can effect how quickly the room. Such as ceiling heights, windows, room size, what speed the machine is set on etc. The machine should be capable of heating a room up to 36 metres squared.

Hi Jasper

I bought mine in summer, December 2017, so really only tested the cooling fan function (which was not satisfactory so I returned the product).

Christoffer

Christofferasked

The Dyson Pure Hot+Cool heats at around 1500 watts and 2000 watts at all times when heating is active.. When the room temperature is reached the fan shuts off the heating. This way the fan blows cold air until the room temperature has fallen again to 1 degrees lower than the set temperature.

Can you update the firmware so that Dyson Pure Hot+Cool heats at various watts depending on the room temperature? This way a more static and constant temperature is experienced.

Example: Set temperature 23. Room temperature 20. The fan heats at maximum 2000 watts.
Set temperature 23. Room temperature 22.9. The fan heats at 1000 watts
Set temperature 23. Room temperature 23.5. The fan heats at 200 watts.
Set temp 23. Room temp 24. The heating turns off.

Hi Christoffer,

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback.

There are many variables that can effect how many watts the machine uses while trying to heat a room. The Dyson Pure+Hot Cool uses its intelligent thermostat to provide fast even heating around the room when on diffused mode or personal heating when on the jet focus mode.

We will certainly pass your suggestion through to the appropriate department and if you require any assistance with your machine please feel free to contact our helpline on 1800 239 766.

I just bought the hot/cold air purifier. I can't seem to work out how to set a low temp (for hot weather). I can set a high temp (for cool weather) but when I have the cool function on i can just control the air flow not the temp so the room is still stiflingly hot. What am I missing? I'm about the return it to the shop. I didn't just spend $800 to sweat in summer.

you can’t control the coolness, only the heat. If you want to reduce the temperature if your room the only solution really is an air conditioner. The Dyson is only a fan.

Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Vlas,

Thank you for your question.

The Dyson Pure Hot+Cool Link is not an air conditioner and won't produce cold air. The Cool refers to the cooling created when the air from the fan hits your skin.

Hi,
We are looking at purchasing a Dyson cooling and heating fan. The main purpose is to cool a room for kids. Will this unit actually reduce the temperature within the room or just recycle the air temperature. Trying to decide between this fan unit which is described as a cooling unit or a portable air-conditioner.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Placed in front of a chair, it gives a nice cool breeze when to hot. Not so good when cold and using the heating. No way would it warm up a complete room. I have to install a reverse cycle for mine. Oh, and Dyson does not have a agent in South Australia, so had to send it to Sydney when the rotation motor would not stop rotating, even though not switched on. Same problem as had on the the air filter dyson. Neither lasted for 60 hours of usage. I will not be getting another one

Hi. Can anyone tell me if this item (the Dyson hot/cool link is easy to set. I simply want to set it on 26 degrees Celsius summer and winter and I don't want to be bothered with constant re-setting or apps or any other mod. cons. I recently spent $500 on a heater ( not
Dyson) and it requires setting to date/time etc EVERY TIME before it will operate. I don't ever want to go back to that nightmare! just give me an on/off switch

1 answer

Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Lizzie,

Thank you for your query.

The Dyson Pure Hot + Cool will remember your settings from the last time you used it (except oscillation). So if you were to set the machine on fan setting 10 with the target temperature being 26 degrees, this setting would be the setting the machine goes to when you turn the machine on.

Same during summer. If you switch to fan mode, when you turn the machine back on after being powered off, it will be in fan mode.

I hope this helps, however, please reach out to [email protected] if we can assist further.
