Dyson has partnered with All Mum Central to initiate a trial of 130 Dyson Pure Hot+Cool Link machines. Of this trial, the first 20 reviewers that submit a review are eligible to receive a $25 Kmart Gift voucher. These participants have been informed that the nature of their review, whether it is positive or negative, will not affect their chance of receiving the gift card. This incentive campaign meets ieatwords's incentive guidelines and may explain the spike in review numbers.

Hi my Dyson purifier makes a low humming noise when switched on auto and goes into standby mode however when I go into the settings "continuous monitoring" is already switched off. I've tried switching it on and off again but no luck. Is it possibly there's a problem with the latest update?
1 answer
Dyson Team ..Dyson
Hi Leon,
Thank you for your query.
The machine will continue to monitor the air when the machine is in standby mode with the green A showing. Please be assured this is normal.
Just to confirm, Continuous Monitoring refers to when the machine is off, but still powered on at the wall.
If we can assist further, please give us a call on 1800 239 766. Our Dyson Experts are available Monday - Friday 8 am - 8 pm and Saturday - Sunday 8:30 am - 4 pm EST.

How many watts of electricity does the hot and cool pure link use?
1 answer
Dyson Team ..Dyson
Hi John,
Thank you for your query.
Actual energy usage over time is specific to the exact environment in which the fan heater is being used, so it is impossible to calculate a "running time" or amount of energy required without knowing room dimensions, start temperature, building materials, window and door numbers and size.
When in active heating use, the Dyson Pure Hot+Cool uses 2000W when heating the room at maximum power. When on standby, it uses under 1W of energy. Once the desired temperature has been reached, and it's maintaining the room’s temperature, energy use varies but will be a minimum of 2.5W. Because of its intelligent thermostat, in this mode, it will use less on average than most other fan heaters. This is because when the room reaches your desired temperature, the machine goes on standby. When it's cooling, it uses much less energy (approx. 44W) on its highest setting with oscillation on.

Do you need to maintain the fan ie replace filters?
2 answers
Yes you need to replace the filter but you can view in the app on the hours left before the change is required.
Dyson Team ..Dyson
Hi Lucas,
Thank you for your query.
Regarding maintenance, the machine can be wiped over with a soft dry cloth.
For the filter, no routine maintenance is required until the filter needs to be replaced (after approximately 4300 hours). This is easily done at home in only a few minutes. You can see how this is done here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBukB_1cXBE

What is the electricity usage? is it an efficient use of power?
1 answer
Dyson Team ..Dyson
Hi there,
Thanks for your question.
The maximum wattage on heat mode is 2000 watts and the maximum on the cool mode is up to 44 watts.
Our air multiplier technology ensures that the airflow output from the machine is higher than the airflow generated from the motor.
The machine can also be set to Auto mode which means it senses and reacts to the particle levels in the air which is an efficient use of power. On heat mode the machine is controlled by a thermostat target temperature, so when the room reaches the temperature it will stop and save power, waiting till the room cools down by one degree Celsius, then will start heating again.
For further information about our machines please email us at [email protected] and we will be happy to assist.

Hi,
My fan makes a decent amount of noise even when turned off. Whilst off (not on auto, off) it still makes a low level noise, kind of a hum. Is this normal? The noise disappears when the fan is turned off at the power socket. Occasionally, it will do a half second whirring noise like its about to start up, but it doesn't, is this normal too?
Its not a major problem, but it does make me worry about the safety of leaving it plugged in whilst I leave the house, when the room is noisy and the tv is playing, its fine, but if everything is shut down, its noticeable.
Thanks, Chris!

Hi Chris,
Thanks for your question.
The machine does require a minimum airflow in order for the sensors to pick up the particle levels in the air for your graph on continuous monitoring mode. So it will make a quiet humming noise even in standby in this mode. If you wish to turn this off, go into your Link app settings and turn off continuous monitoring, and the noise levels will reduce, however the you will no longer have the graph readings.
If we can be of any further assistance with your purifier Link app, please email us at [email protected].
Best wishes,
Thank you, that's solved the problem. The fan is positioned right next to the top of my bed so this is very helpful!
Hi my Dyson purifier is doing the same thing however when I go into the settings "continuous monitoring" is already switched off. I've tried switching it on and off again but no luck. Is it possibly there's a problem with the latest update?

Hi there, I'd just like advice as to whether the air purifier will work well with pet dander and an old house- bedroom use. I'm over waking up puffy and congested. I don't really require the hot/ cold fan feature.
2 answers
If this is the case I'd suggest that you go for a proper purifier such as Philip's. Pricewise the purifier function is just a bonus feature.
Dyson Team ..Dyson
Hi Kerri,
Thank you for your query.
The Dyson Pure Hot+Cool Link can capture 99.95% of particles down to PM 0.1. This includes pet dander, pollen and allergens.

I need to cool 12x3 meter office ceiling height 2.2 metres. Will the cooling function of the new model 308397-01 do sufficient cooling on s hot day?
3 answers
Dyson Team ..Dyson
Hi John,
Thank you for your query.
The Dyson Pure Hot+Cool will work as a fan and cool people in front of it via the wind chill effect, however, it won't cool the air like an air conditioner as it doesn't contain any refrigerants or the like.
Apologies for any disappointment.
Best wishes,
Hi John,
Air coolers/conditioners are vented to the outside (the heat has to go somewhere).
This unit cools by blowing air over you to assist your natural evaporative cooling system (the heat remains in the room).
What we have here is a failure to communicate.
All good - I appreciate your time to answer. Have a great weekend.
Cheers, John.

How much energy does it consume if I run it for an hour? What is the energy consumption? Does it have an energy rating?
1 answer
Dyson Team ..Dyson
Hi Jules,
Thanks for your question.
As this machine runs on a thermostat on heat mode, it's hard to quantify the exact power consumption, as this can vary for each room area, the starting temperature and the target temperature. The machine runs on 2000 watts on the maximum heat setting but will only heat while the air is below the target temperature, and once the room reaches your target temperature it will stop heating.
On fan mode the power consumption is 44 watts at the maximum airspeed.
When set to Auto mode, the machine intelligently selects the most efficient airflow to reduce particles in the air.
When it reaches its target, the machine will slowly reduce the airflow - instead of simply switching off - to maintain
this target level. It then switches to idle mode, where the machine is still monitoring and reporting, but using
minimal airflow. This means that following a pollution event, the purifier fan doesn’t continue to run at a constant,
and perhaps unnecessary, airflow, after reacting.

What are the prices on the filters and how often would I need to change them ?

Dyson Team ..Dyson
Hi Rory,
Thank you for your interest in our technology. The 360 Degree Glass HEPA Filter is designed for 4300 hours of use. If the machine is purifying the air for 12 hours a day this should be changed approximately once a year.
The cost of a replacement is $75 with free postage and can be purchased from our website or directly through the Dyson Link App.
