Pretty good but not great for my back!
I've had this vacuum cleaner for 11 months now and the performance is incredible. I did a full vacuum of my house with my old vacuum cleaner (a Hoover) before purchasing it, and then I vacuumed the same day with my new one (because I couldn't wait to try it!). It picked up 2 full 'loads' of dust that my previous vacuum had missed! It is really effective on carpet, tiles and wood and you never have to go over a spot twice. It does pretty well going along edges and is super easy to empty and clean. It works as well now (after 11 months) as when I...Read more
first bought it. My only real issues are that it's quite heavy and I find that my back gets sore after a full vacuum. Also it is is hopeless to use to vacuum the car etc because the flexible hose thing is not long enough. And it's quite hard to detach the flexible hose to get into small corners (not like my previous vacuum where you just pull the 'head' off and can use the tube). Next time I would buy a barrel vacuum so it's lighter and easier for hard to reach places. But I'd still definitely buy a Dyson and would recommend this if you like an upright model.Similar opinion? A bit of a let down
I was so excited to use my dyson but i have to be honest and say it is very overrated :( the suction when using it upright is ok but when you use the attachment to vacuum the car etc its honestly rather poor and my 12 dollar kmart auto vac does a better job .. It constantly gets blocked with dust and i have to clear out clumps of dust every time i use it which is daily ...a very big let down ..im not sure what all the fuss is about ..i wish i had kept my good old VAX ..

Beautiful!
I had a a dyson upright few years ago, but was a bit too heavy for me, when I bought yhe small ball dyson I was happy with it's size, it is light and easy to maneuvre. It's very easy to empty and clean the and wash the felter. Comes with 2 tools, ir would be nice it had the norrow space piece as well. As with all upright vacuumsit is not easy to use the hand tools!

Cleanest carpet ever
I have three carpeted rooms that are over 10 years old and in a rental property. I cleaned with my regular vac then went over with the Dyson and OM STARS did it pick up more than I could imagine... After three cleans the colour has changed and it smells so much better.

The Biggest piece of Crap
Do not buy this product it could be likened to the Lada Niva car of the eighties we have already returned it one to be tested and were told by Dyson that it was faulty but the main problem was user error. It just blows the dirt around the floor and does not pick it up. Do not buy this item you will forever regret it.

less than 25hrs use, stopped working, Dyson would not honour warranty
Used sparingly on a predominately timber floor home with rugs and minimal carpet areas.
Vacuum started great, we were really happy, very conscious of the filter cleaning and overall operation of the vacuum considering the investment. Sadly the vacuum cut out during normal use, we contacted Dyson who were happy to accept the postage for the return and assessment as we expected given the reputation of Dyson.
This however is where the Dyson customer service ended. We received advice that the vacuum had been received at the Dyson service cen...Read more

Best Vacuum I've Owned
Amazing performance. The amount of dust/dirt/grime it sucks up is surprising. I had to empty the tank 3 times just to clean my moderately sized lounge room. I didn't realise how much my old cheap vacuum missed.
It's super light and compact. I purchased one for my mum who has Parkinson's and she maneuvers it with ease.
The hand attachments reach my ceiling and are great for zapping up spiders.

Excellent for people with back injuries / Works well on carpet, laminate and cat hair.
Excellent suction for a vacuum this size, light for an upright and the ball makes it very maneuverable - I can even push it from my wheelchair in a pinch. While the floor head is too bulky to go under our Tempurpedic bed, our floors are cleaner than they have been in years. It's designed to be used frequently - and in a home with a cat and a child you'll find yourself emptying more than you'd like - the dirt collector is small - but the flip side is that it cleans areas our old vacuum said was clean and pulls up huge amounts of dust doing so. W...Read more
e got it $200 cheaper than RRP on sale, and after some financial help to do that it's made a huge difference to the cleanliness of our home - way better than the KMart-type vacuums that burn out a motor within 3-6 months and suck terribly instead of sucking dirt. Looking at a patch of clean carpet was the reason I chose to write this review - Panasonic and Miele are good alternatives if you have $ and want a bagged upright, but if you're looking at this vacuum for a set of 'compromises', you may be surprised just how little you compromise when using it in your home. It doesn't have the power of a Dyson Big Ball, but for a 2 bedroom apartment you don't need it.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Excellent one from Dyson
My first Dyson equipment and I can vouch for it. Its amazing and will recommend for any house, be it carpet or wooden flooring. Cleaning is just easy and I purchased 3 years additional warranty for a complete peace of mind. The unit has been constructed very thoughtfully, it always stays upright, the cord wraps around, its just great.

Dyson has sold out....
In the past we have owned 2 other DYSON D24 Ball type vacuums...The quality was good and the performance was amazing. After sales service was excellent, In the last week we took delivery of the dyson small ball multifloor.- And there is no match of quality. in a nutshell a flimsy new inferior product - Nowhere the same quality as earlier models. (Look at reviews from previous dyson owners and all will concur.) They are a $200 vacuum selling for an inflated price. Cheap and nasty in comparison..In a nutshell Dyson sucks, but not in a good say people. Very dissapointing. We;re actually going to buy a new brush head for the old D24...

Good, but a little bulky
I have a cat at home, the hair was our biggest problem. I have Dyson wireless vacuum, but it is not power enough and the battery life was always the problem. This Dyson Small Ball works great on carpet, the suction is really good. I tried a small area (around 3 - 4 square meters carpet) with my Dyson wireless vacuum first, then used the Dyson Small Ball to vacuum the same area. I got another half bin of cat hairs! The power cable is long enough, but the vacuum itself is a bit bulky and heavy. There is no handler to "carry" this vacuum. It is a bit difficult for me to move the vacuum to upstairs. Kids and senior people may also found difficult to operate this vacuum.

Excellent
Excellent, I love the way is sucks very well. I vacuumed my floor two days ago with my old vacuum that I had to regularly change the expensive bags, I spent about 30 minutes using my old machine. Two days later with my new machine I was surprised how much dust was lifted from my carpet. The canister was full after my first vacuum and I thought the carpet was very clean.....I emptied the canister and vacuumed again and it lifted another half full canister of dirt. Unbelievable difference. Purchased on sale so was able to save 33% which I believe makes it value for money.

Not good for plush carpets
We bought this vacuum being told it's great for all carpets and hard flooring. We used it once and couldn't move the vacuum on our carpets (the suction was too strong) so we called Dyson. They told us this model isn't good on plush carpets, so we took it back for a full refund. We also found the outgoing air from the suction shoots out the lower side of the ball. This caused all our dog hair to float around the room and not be vacuumed.

POOR JOB
An example of a product being sold that's unable to complete the task its intended for. The vacuum cleaner sucks well but spits out all the dirt as it goes along. It sucks in carpet and you can't move it, the power brush stops. I Called customer service and sent product in for testing and a note returned saying I did not know how to use it properly. I kept being told I have selected wrong product fro my house!! Strange when its a multi floor product and its what was advised by Harvey Norman for my particular home. With no luck at returning the product which was only 2 months old I am forced to clean my house with the Dyson stick, which is of far superior quality to the Small Ball.

Not sure I f I'm doing something wrong?
Used my Dyson Small Ball upright for the first time. Great suction BUT not easy to use on thick pile carpet. Quite back breaking in fact.
I took it in to the service centre, they did an adjustment, unfortunately hasnt made much of a difference. Vacuuming is not easy. A little disappointed, I was hoping for easy manoeuvring.

Caveat emptor!
Great suction. Easy maintenance. A bit limited when trying to get into tight corners. Need a PhD to pull apart and then reconfigure the tubing bits. My partner still hasn't mastered it! Cats don't mind the noise. Easy to maneuver with all the benefits of an upright and suitable for all floor types. HOWEVER! Since buying this machine 6+ years ago we have replaced the power head 4 times. The third time was out of warranty so had to pay $90 to replace it and have just ordered the 4th which was only 6months old. During this time the machine has bee...Read more
n sent back to try an ascertain a cause for the recurring breakdowns. Because the machine was given the OK last time we declined an offer to do this again because of a mix-up when causing delays in delivery and more time wasted on phone calls to try and sort the out the confusion. Having said all that, the customer service people were always polite and helpful which couldn't be easy especially when having to defend a product that is clearly substandard. They seemed well prepared for dealing with irritated customers. i.e. leaving them on hold under the pretext that they were going to consult with 'someone else' until the customer cooled down! Next time it breaks, it stays broken and we buy another brand of vacuum leaner. This experience along with reviews by others has severely undermined my confidence in this brand. We paid more hoping we would get more. We didn't.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

DYSON SMALL BALL FAILS MISERABLY
DON'T BUY THE MULTIBALL - Its expensive, and does a very poor job. I've had Dyson Vacuums for over 20 years, though over the last five to ten years, the quality has completely dropped off, and when you have a problem, even within the warranty period, Dyson don't want to know about it. I've now found heaps of references on the internet not only highlighting numerous problems with their vacuums, and research showing that they are far from the best when compared with other units using identical tests. Don't let the pretty colours and advertising fool you, they aren't worth it. Whilst I have recommended them in the past, would never recommend Dyson to anyone.

DONT BUY DYSON!!
We bought a shark liftaway instead, and you wouldn't believe how good it is, or what it extracts from the carpet easily. Far better than any Dyson I've had and highly recommend.

Could be better
I love the way it sucks up dirt but i have to put hose attachments on to get under any part of sofas etc...ball bit is a pain. It is easy to store and i do prefer upright cleaners as its easier on my back (unless i am cleaning under furniture). I cant say its brilliant but its better than i have had and i hope it lasts a long time as $500 is not cheap!

Don't expect anything
Straight out of the box fail. The vacuum cleaner sucks in carpet and you can't move it, the power brush stops.
Called customer service and they were hopeless. The guy kept on telling me that I have bought wrong product. I don't know how to choose right product! DYSON do not have a product selection guide. The retailer suggested this. My old hoover works fine but not this fancy DYSON.

My Dyson does an amazing job!
My Dyson does an amazing job of doing a deep clean on an extensive assortment of fibers. Such as polypropylene, nylon or polyester, and even wool. Something other vacuums lack, cleaning only the top layer or the surface of the carpet/upholstery. It is exceptional at bringing the recoil back into the upper layer of the pile, regardless of the weave. Dyson has always strived to remove the dirt and allergens. I have a four bedroom house with 40% soft pile 20% hard pile, 40% hard floors.
Personally, I use the wand to remove larger unwanted objects from my textiles or hard floors. The primary head is for dust and dirt removal.

My Dyson is less than 12 months old but I cannot get it to pick the dirt up on my tiles and it will not stand on its own don’t know. Why it will not click into place

As u are covered under warranty I would suggest contacting Dyson or taking to place of purchase. Warranty is 2 years. It can be replaced if faulty. With tiles (grouted) its best to slide to max, on front. It drops a small skirt to improve suction.

If your machine isn't standing up and not picking up debris, this can often indicate a blockage within the machine.

I have a small ball and the brush has been replaced twice and the bristles have again been falling out. I now have a tear in the flexible hose so my machine has lost suction. After paying nearly $600 on the 6.8.2016 it is now out of warranty and I don't see this as very good value for the price I paid. I previously owned an upright Dyson without the ball technology and it was far superior in performance and longevity. Do I now have to purchase new parts or move to another brand of vacuum?

The concertina hose is so stiff and tight, I can hardly use the attachments as the hose won't stay extended and just pulls the vacuum cleaner over. This is my first Dyson, don't think I will buy Dyson again. This machine is very stiff and hard to manoeuvre...I'm so disappointed in it.

Thank you for your query. At first, the hose of your machine may be tight, however it will loosen over time. To expedite this, we recommend one person holds the machine (while on) in place while a second individual stretches the hose to its full length to help loosen the hose.
