Quiet and efficient
We've had a few dud vacuums lately (cheap imported models from Godfreys), so we thought we'd try the Electrolux brand again, since the old barrel cleaners worked well in their day. This one is ideal for our purposes. It sucks up the debris, rather than throw it across the tiled floor like some Chinese brands did, and it's light, easy to drag, and quiet. I give it a 4 out of 5, which is good considering I'd rate previous purchases as 2 at best.

Awesome technology
My Electrolux is quiet, very light to handle, maneuver well.It cleans my vinyl floors, and tiled areas extremely well.Super efficient, great buy. This vacuum cleaner is great for all types of flooring, seems to do high piles really well. One of the things I love is the quietness of this cleaner, even the grandchildren can watch their shows, while I vacuum, Awesome.

Best vacuum cleaner ever !
i bought one of these in "used" condition back in 2006, it already was a few years old back then.. maybe 4-5 i am not sure.
as of now in 2017 it is still kicking hard with no issues. Suction is great, it is very very silent (mind you back then it was the most silent one i've ever seen, some vacuums are silent now due to new tech motors etc)
it's just about the right size, very powerful, auto cord works like a treat, all parts are still intact after 13+ years of use, just the right weight, easy to pick up and store, easy to change bags, only...Read more

It sucks, but it supposes to!
The model number also 1700W + Paketto, whatever this means, well got the 1700 and surprised it's not more. I briefly inherited it after fixing it (bad wiring connection in the lead) But since it was given to my daughter by her mother in law...I gave it back! I absolutely loved it; quiet, retractable lead. One simple but smart attachment brush that becomes a wider tool just flicking open its side flaps. I have to mention though I do the carpet with a Dyson, a lot more efficient for carpet but quite noisy.
Well I have been reunited with it recen...Read more
tly and even came back with a canister for which I have no Idea what to do with! My daughter was given a new one so did not need two! I feel sorry for those who had bad experience with theirs as I find this one so good, even if I have to put up with bags again. I believe it was bought quite a long time ago. It gets a little hot and I can see later models have much bigger wattage. +s quiet, efficient retractable lead long enough for me. Basic simple tools for non floor area. -s discontinued!, Needs bags, tool does not have a permanent place in the main body to be at hand at all time. Only joking about purchase date!

This is a dudd not a Vacuum Cleaner
Over 12 Months it was great. After 12 Months the motor slowed up and the fast switch stopped working. Called Electrolux they told me it was out of warranty and that I could take it to an authorised shop to have it fixed.
This machine is a dudd. It lasted one week and we now have the same problem
Any other Vacuum Cleaner would be a better option than this

1.8 years and dead with noisy motor
Our ultrasilencer ZUS4065OR became ultra noisy with what sounded like (and turned out to be) a failed motor bearing. Took it back to Godfreys who sent it back to electrolux for a warranty repair. They declined saying, quote: "This contamination is an indication that the unit has either been used with an incorrectly fitted pre motor filter or without a pre motor filter. Also, this contamination have caused the motor bearings to become noisy."
We never touched the motor filter in its entire 1.8 years. Maybe we should have? But the manual...Read more
http://www.electrolux.co.nz/Support/Manuals/?modeld=ZUS4065OR says "change when dirty or after every 5th bag." The vacuum had just had it's 5th bag put in and the motor filter didn't look particularly dirty. The filter doesn't look super fine like the HEPA filter so not surprising that it lets stuff through? But I'm no expert. The repair cost quoted was $337, 85% of the original cost of the vacuum. Which we will be investing in a new vacuum. From a brand that is not Electrolux. And if you want a free vacuum and have some good earmuffs, give me a bell. As an aside, Godfreys had to be chased for five weeks about the repair, only for me to find out later that they had received an email from Electrolux within the first week (28 days ago). So very poor follow up from Godfreys.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

This vacuum is crap!!!! Do not buy.
Heavy, I have owned two now Coz the first one fell apart and now the second one is doing the same all within a month. Left wheel has fallen off both, cord gets stuck half way on both, both have suction leaks in the hose where it connects to the metal part.

best vacuum I ever had
Found the machine in new condition sitting on top of a dumpster with the bottom tube and floor brush missing - I hate the heavy telescopic steel tubes anyway so replaced it with the aluminum tube and carpet head from an old electrolux - perfect - lightweight - easy to handle - long reach more then 10 meters - very quiet motor and despite only 1250 watt very good suction even with full bag - absolutely love it - the biggest problem I see are owners which never clean the filters and the adjustable floor brushes

Great suction but not easy to maneuvre
This is a really good vacuum cleaner but it is not the easiest to use. I have a large area of half and half tiles and carpet with mats and steps.
The first thing I noticed was the hose is just too short. It is about 18" shorter than my last cleaner's hose. To do high or long reach spots without having the machine right on your heels makes it constantly annoying. The thickness of the hose is also a problem as it is bigger and therefore quite stiff when manoeuvring around items. It is more inclined to knock things over and does not bend as ea...Read more

11 years and counting
Had this vacuum for 8 years now and very pleased with it, changed the HEPA filter for the first time last year as it was very dark and does not look cleaner when washed.
Recommend you do not vacuum with the duster unit attached as mine cracked inside the vacuum wand with little force, had to replace it as Electrolux wanted me to send it to a repair centre for assessment when under w/tee.
Never bothered as it was too much fuss just purchased a new one.
Would always buy Electrolux for Vacuums as our family has done for some 50 years.

Good machine except for plastic head parts
I bought an Electrolux because my mother had one for years, the good old hardy metal components lasted a life time. Unfortunately with my Ultra Silencer the floor head cracked and broke away from the neck, so I had to buy a new one for $125, as its not covered under warranty. The handle at the top also snapped and cost $40 to replace. I have just had the second floor nozzle crack and break off the floor head. So frustrating, nothing is made to last these days, we spend all our life working to pay for appliances that we're told are doing well i...Read more
f they last 5 years! Only to then throw them all out into the dump and pollute the earth with more human waste!!!! Hate this modern age crap, just had to throw the washing machine and a friggin fridge out too! Really annoying to use
To be fair it does the job, and well, too. It's just that is is really annoying to use. We had an Electrolux ultra silencer vacuum cleaner for about 10 years. It was great, no problems at all, so when it was on its last legs, back to Godfreys and a new one - except that this was a lower grade model, without the automatically retractable cord, and with a cheap hose. The new model's hose telescopes in on you at inconvenient times and without warning. We replaced it with the hose from the old one, and off we went. But the cord is REALLY annoying. ...Read more
You are peacefully moving to a new area, vacuuming busily, and the wretched thing cuts out on you. It has pulled itself out of the wall socket. The cord return goes like a bat out of hell too, yanking itself out of the wall socket before you've had a chance to turn it off.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Sooo disappointed!
After owning and loving an Electrolux Z5540 since 2002, I didn't hesitate to purchase the most similar new model in 2014. The old one had a much softer, more flexible hose, a curved wand that made vacuuming difficult low and high places possible, really useful tools attached to the handle and one head that did hard floors or plush pile carpet equally easily. The new one is only good for vacuuming floors and you really need to use different heads for different floors, and the tools are not as versatile. They had a good product in 2002. Why didn't they stick to it?

Brilliant
I have owned this vacuum cleaner for about a year now. It is very quiet, has plenty of suction, a solid quality build, a very nice ergonomic design functionality, and the overall look is also aesthetically pleasing for a vacuum cleaner. The three reasons I chose this particular vacuum cleaner was the fact it looks great, is very quiet, and has a 12 metre cord. A lot of thought has gone into the design of this model and many little features can be appreciated, ergonomics in particular, the comfortable handle, contoured release buttons, the handy...Read more
clip for the brush and so on. It is a bagged model, which has the expense of buying bags, but they last quite a while and make it so easy to empty with no gunked up filters to worry about. Sometimes the head can be a bit grabby on the return stroke with the power dialled up, but this is really very minor. Couldn't have been happier with my choice, especially being in the mid range price bracket.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

So far so good....it's very quiet.
The ultra silent mode appealed to us, and so far so good. It's actually our second one. It's very quiet. And works really well. We don't have pets so it's not sucking up dog/cat hair all of the time but we do have kids! No complaints at the moment. I'd recommend it.
Quietness, easy to move around

Great for pet hair
We have a fluffy white Pomeranian who sheds onto our grey/green carpet. Its invisible to the human eye. All previous vacuums we found just rolled the hair into clumps but wouldn't suck it up. We took along a small sample of our carpet and some sample hair after brushing our dog, to the shop, and this was the only one that worked. Brilliant.
Note to self, always try before you buy in the shop, with a piece of your own carpet (not the demo carpet and Kapok they use)
Small, very quiet, heaps of suction, comfortable handle which is easy to hold.
Did find it $30 cheaper online. It pays to research prices before buying.

Love my machine
I've had this vacuum for quite a few months now and I love it. Very strong power and it has a super long cord which is great. Compared to my last vacuum it is pretty quiet. I recommended it to a friend and she also bought one and loves it.

Complete Rubbish
This is the worst vac I have ever had the misfortune of purchasing. I had it 2 months the handle completely split, took it back, the Electrolux dealer was rude, couldn't replace it, sent it away waited 3 months couldn't use the vac, finally they gave me another piece from a different model that was also bad and made the machine harder to use. The floor attachment also snapped within the first 3 months they wouldn't replace it saying it wasn't under warranty, cost me 125.00 to replace that. That also packed it in within a month, I had another co...Read more

Buyer Beware!!!
As soon as your machine is out of warranty it will pack in and they will refuse to pay.. The button stays stuck in the "ON" position and won't turn off. Electrolux then sends you to their overpriced service centre to have a look at the machine and charge you $55 - $75 for the privilege of doing nothing! Then refuse to give it back when you say you are not happy with the fee. Disgraceful and very unprofessional and as a consumer paying $450 for a machine that doesn't make it to 3 years is unacceptable!
Very disappointing!!
They break and can't handle any Dust or debris what so ever I think someone should tell them it's supposed to be a vacuum!!!

My $500 Eletrolux is falling to bits after 3 years- and I really mean falling to bits.
The on/off button and just about everything else. Will cost $230 to repair. Not good enough Electrolux- premium pricing for disposable product
