Hello I moved into a new area not so long ago. I’m renting so a company referred me to my electricity and gas be with momentum energy. I’ve set up direct debits with them and the date for my first payment to come out but it didn’t and as I have a yearly set of dates emailed to me by momentum they said there was a glitch in there system when I called them about it and they couldn’t do anything about it as the energy plan I’m on couldn’t be changed so pretty much I had to suck it up !!! I have so much trouble with them already that it’s put me off. I’m really not to familiar what a monthly bill would be and feel I’m not getting looked after by them. Can I change as easy as I joined ??

Hi Don,

Thank you for your patience in waiting for our response - basic meters (ones that are read by a human) are invoiced quarterly after the meter is read, whereas smart meters are billed monthly.

A lot of our existing customers who are on basic meters pay monthly instalments via a “smoothpay” invoice, allowing them to manage their payments that way.

Are there any non-Australian shareholders in Enova?

Hi Cygnet,

Enova has no non-Australian shareholders and we're wholly Australian owned and operated. One of the requirements in our company's constitution is that all our shareholders must be Australian based.

We're fortunate to have shareholders spread all over Australia and a large portion, 70% or so, based in the Northern Rivers of NSW where Enova Energy was founded.

Hi, can you please comment on why 95% of 5-star reviews here are from the last week of July 2022 (mostly 18 July 2022 with time difference around 5-30 minutes)?

Looks quite suspicious to me.

when will go start operating in Sydney? I am keen to switch over from Origin. I don't have any solar panels so would like to know if I can still save on my power bills. (one person household). I am attracted by the 100% green power and not for profit model.

My famly has a minimal shareholding in Enova but we are very happy with Powershop which we joined for much the same reason that we invested in Enova. We see ne reason to abandon Powershop unless we can see clear daylight between Powershop and the alternative, so if you are able to provide a favorable like for like comparison for a 4-person household with ~ 6 kW of PV (and a good deal of unwanted shading) we would be happy to reassess our choice. ..............best wishes....derek robertson

Hi Derek, I am also an Enova shareholder and am happy to be such. I have a 9kw system and very high efficiency appliances resulting in a very large export to the grid and only 2 kwh a day import over night. So feed in is everything for me. If it is purely a dollar decision I suggest uploading your recent bill to the services NSW Energy Switch site and see what is available. I then run the best 4 through the Solar Choice ‘Solar-Friendly’ Retail Electricity Plan Comparison Tool" on the Solar Choice website, it is spreadsheet based and saves me a lot of number crunching. However if using a local company or one with genuine concern about sustainable energy is foremost, I don't think you can beat Enova.

In addition to our Social Enterprise model and investment back into communities, we're always looking to provide competitive offers overall against our larger "for profit" competitors. We have a couple of offers currently available.

As at the date of this response, our Community Plus Offer which has 9 cents feed in with no fuss transparent low usage rates and reward for paying on time. Our other offer is the Solar Premium Offer which has the same low usage rates but a solar feed in starts at 16 cents with a step to 9 cents as the minimum rate.

The best option for value is going to depend on factors such as your usage, solar export, tariff type and time of day you use energy.
