How did you go replacing your snapped blades? I have 2 fans that have only recently done this, at full operational high speed. Lucky I still have my head!! I can’t believe it would be a cheap exercise, as you’d need the electrician to uninstall it, then reinstall it???

I was told by Beacon to change the switch numbers, I found the switch inside the remote but cant find it on the light itself.

The DIP switches are found on the receiver unit which should be located in the ceiling canopy of the fan. The issue may also be that the receiver needs replacing if changing the frequency on the transmitter and receiver does not fix the issue, Debbie - BL Customer Service

Can the FANAWAY® EVO1 Prevail Ceiling Fan ( with LED Light & Remote ) also be operated using a hard wired main wall switch (in addition to the remote control)?

1 answer
Fanaway
Customer S.Fanaway

Thank you for your question, this product can only be operated via a remote control. For all fans you cannot operate a fan via a remote, and have it wired up to a wall controller, this confuses the fan, and will cause the fan to malfunction and will void the warranty associated with the fan. Regards, BL Customer Service.

Evo1 Prevail

Hello,
I have had my fan away fan for 3 years and whilst in operation one of the blades snapped off flying into the wall and damaging it. I understand the warranty is only 2 years however consumer law does say when purchasing something you should see the product last as long as reasonably expected; I am sure we would agree a blade snapping off after 3 years is not expected, could you please assist and inform me if you will replace these so I can have my fan back in working order. Thanks for your help

I have also had my fanaway for approx 3 years and had a blade snap off nearly striking me in the head. Surely this is can't be the norm for these fans a year out of warranty. Only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured.

How do I get the cover off to change the globe?

1 answer
Fanaway
Customer S.Fanaway

Hi Judy

What you need to do is with one hand, hold the metal above the light and with the other hand, turn the glass only in an anticlockwise direction, about a 1/4 of a turn. Sometimes due to the glass expansion (due to the heat fro the glob or if the glass has been put on slightly askew or too tight), the glass can stick, so you just need to give the glass a tap in the anti clockwise direction and it should turn.

I really love the look of the Fanaway LED Evo1 Prevail fan ... however am really nervous to go ahead after reading these reviews. Could you please tell me if you have resolved the issues ... or is this product really risky to buy? Thanks.

Customer S.Fanaway

Colleen, the reviews you have seen do not relate to this version of the Fanaway Evo1 LED Prevail fan, they relate to previous versions and not all the issues are an issue with the fan but with the installation or maintenance of the fan. As long as the fan is installed correctly and maintained, ie, cleaning etc, it will work fine. We sell hundreds of these fans both in Australia and internationally and the issues are small compared to the amount sold. The fans do have a 2 year in home warranty on them as well. We've had 3 of them and they've all worked well - one did have a faulty power supply for the led light which was easily enough replaced for $40.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy another if I had a need for one.

I had the same thing. If they're under warranty get Beacon to sort them out. Mine wasn't so I ordered a new LED driver from Beacon for $44 and fitted it my self - quite easy take the led cover off and you'll see a white plastic box with some wires attached. Make sure the mains is disconnected first, unplug the wires, unscrew the fixing screws and replace with the new one.

Fanaway
Customer S.Fanaway

Depending on the type of Fanaway you have, if it is one with a circular fluorescent tube in it, it could be the ballast that is not working. These ballasts are available from your local Beacon Lighting store. Make sure to tell them the model of Fanaway you have and when you purchased it to en sure you get the correct ballast, Debbie - Beacon Lighting Customer Service

I am considering purchasing 3 Fanaway fans with retracting blades, but I am finding conflicting info on their dimensions and specifications. Can someone clarify the following for me please?
1. Are the Evo range suitable for use in a bathroom?
2. Which Evo model has the shortest ceiling drop height, and what is the shortest achievable drop height with adapters (if available)?
3. Which Evo model has the smallest blade diameter and what is it?

Thanks in advance.

1 answer
Fanaway
Customer S.Fanaway

The Fanaway ceiling fans are not suitable for bathroom use. They all have a 48 in/122cm blade diameter. The shortest Fanaway is either the Fanaway Classic or the Fanaway EVO2 with a drop from the ceiling of 270mm, the Evo1 has a drop of 315mm. There are no adapters apart from extension rods or remote controls available for these fans. These fans cannot be shortened anymore than what they come assembled. Do you have operating instructions for the Eco 1 Prevail? We had ours installed yesterday and discovered that it had no remote or dimmer included, despite being led to believe we'd have these functions when we bought it. This should have been told to us when we purchased or the sales guy at Kessels Rd should have at least told us they come seperately and should have at least tried to sell these added items to us. A disappointing experience because we really like the fan light in action.
How do you change the warm, daylight and bright settings? Is the a switch somewhere easily accessible?
How do you reverse the blades. Is there a switch somewhere easily accessible?
The installation and operating instructions don't clearly provide this information
If we end up buying a dimmer and remote will we be up for an additional cost of getting the electrician out again to set up?
Thanks

We bought all fans with remote as there was no big difference in cost. The answer to all your question is remote control as it has switches for all i.e. Change light settings, fan & etc .
Not sure how to operate it without remote

With respect to your question about setting remote control, yes, it needs to be installed by electrician to keep warranty intact. And I would strongly recommend it too as it is the most faulty item amongst other parts where We have already called on warranty three times in three months

Thanks Kaartyk.
The disappointing thing about our purchase was that we were told the the light came with remote. Had we known it didn't we would have most likely purchased the remote as an extra or paid more for the full kit as you did.

Hi - I posted on someone else's link but thought I'd start a new one in case it was missed...
We have a fanaway evo 1 in our kitchen, installed by an electrician after purchase from Beacon lighting. We have tried the 2 person technique of pulling out the blades to clean them but think really I need to remove them and soak them and scrub them due to the kitchen grease etc.
is it possible to remove the blades, clean them and then replace? I ant find the manual, does this cover this?
Are there any professional cleaners that are recommended?
Thanks in advance

Evo1 Prevail

Hi - I have an EVO 1 Prevail with remote control (actually have two) and the remote isnt working on one unit. I changed the switch settings inside the remote to test it and it controls the other unit when switches are in the same positions. The manual I have for the lights appears to be for the non-remote control unit. One of your responses suggests that the remote needs to match the switches on the unit itself but without the manual I dont know where the switches are located. Could I get an electronic copy of the manual please?

Mitch, keep in mind that it may not be the remote that is faulty or even the fan itself. My remote worked the fan but not the light. What you need to check is perhaps the remote's "Receiver" located within the fan assembly could be the problem. It's probably hard wired in too. I had to buy a new Lucci brand Remote and Receiver which was annoying after the original only lasting 3 years. Now I have to get an electrician to replace it for me. At least the fan hasn't died, just that bloody receiver!!

mitch

Thanks Jono - The remote doesnt operate the fan or the light at the moment and the manual I had didnt actually show where the receiver unit was but have downloaded one from Beacon Lighting that shows the location. Have to get up on ladders this weekend and have a look - otherwise its an electrician visit. The remote works fine for both light and fan on the other unit so could just be badly set dip switches (I hope)

Hi Fanaway,
We have multiple Fanaway Evo 1's and for some reason the remote control affects both fans which are in the rooms that are on the complete either sides of our home. Furthermore our neighbour has these fans and there remote controls our light too. Is there anyway to fix this as it is very frustrating?

1 answer
Fanaway
Customer S.Fanaway

Thank you for your question. Each remote control has 4 different channels (located behind the batteries in the controller and in the receiver that is located in the fan's canopy) What you need to do, is make sure that each fan that you have, is on their own channel, and that your neighbours remotes are on the other two remaining channels. This will eliminate your issue, Kind Regards BL Customer Service.

I honestly thought they were great then when the two different blades on two fans flew off I was horrified. I would be really careful buying this product. They are very expensive and I was shocked that this can happen. I would find another brand.

Hi Pedro, we sell thousands of these fans, both within Australia and internationally and the issues are very small to the amount sold. Unfortunately, as with any electrical items, I cannot guarantee that your fan will operate without any issues, however I can say that if you have it installed by a licensed electrcian, maintaining your fan by cleaning your fan on a regular basis, and operating the fans throughout the year, not just in summer, it will help to minimise any issues, kind regards Debbie - Beacon Lighting Customer Service

SueD

I would not buy any of the Fanaway lights. They flushmount lights that are complementary to the fan die within a couple years, almost to the day of purchase. There is a ballast problem. My fan is still going ok but it has turned yellow (non-smoking household.) It does not have a remote and the living room is never used. Both offices have broken lights. I am so sick of seeing these lights taken apart all over my house!

Hi Rodrigo

You can change these by the switch that is near the rod of the fan, it will have a little switch that flicks up and down. Should you require any further information on this your closest Beacon Lighting store will be able to assist with a copy of the installation manual that has this pictured.
