Perfect, would buy again and again!
We love our fridge. We love the look, great conversation piece sitting around kitchen island with guests. Has loads of room for it's compact dimensions, we have 2 adults and 3 teenage boys. It's frost free and super easy to clean. Love the stainless that doesn't finger print, and just wipes clean with a damp cloth, perfect for my busy family. Handle snapped off after 5 years, Fisher and Paykel still replaced it free of charge.
good looks & great value for money.

Great design, very quiet.
This is an excellent fridge. My 10+ year old F&P recently broke down so I decided to upgrade. I bought an Electrolux and it went straight back to the shop because it was very noisy. I got this E522BRX2 as a replacement and it is very quiet. The door sags slightly so I got F&P to look at it - they said they all do it more or less but offered to replace it. They sent out a replacement of the just released BRX3 which is the same fridge except it runs an Embraco compressor with R600 gas instead of a Panasonic compressor on the older gas. It m...Read more
ight be more energy efficient but is much noisier and that is a problem for me in a small open plan house. I rang F&P and they said they couldn't give me a new BRX2 as there was no stock left so I asked if I could have the old one back as the door didn't sag much and I noticed in the showroom they all do it anyway. They agreed to change it back and did so the next day. F&P service was simply outstanding. I can't believe the lengths they went to make to me happy and no questions asked. I'm no expert but it seems all the new R600 compressors are much noisier than the previous generation . This seems a big step backward for a small gain in energy efficiency. I for one am happy to pay a few extra dollars in electricity to have a quiet home! Quiet, good design and lighting. Incredible service. Door sags very slightly.1 comment

Good for a family
I brought this fridge before kids hoping that when i had kids it would be great it has lived up to my expectations with being able to store baby bottles and food so it has heaps of room, it has a self closing door, beeps when the fridge is left open for to long and if it remains open it continues to beep non stop and shuts of all lights to keep the fridge cold, it also has a temperture control on the inside so you can keep the fridge at a certain temperture. Their is also a fruit and vege draw with plastic top to seal to keep your fruit and veges extra fresh.
self closing door, beeps if the fridge is left open even if only a little bit, temperture control, fruit and vege crisper, good size fridge..

Terrible
My handle just snapped in half and customer service is the worst I've ever encountered. They absolutely don't care about their customers and have done nothing to make me feel like they care about their product.

Excellent
Very well designed fridge with excellent dual crispers. Fridge maintains steady temperature in all weather and controls humidity well. Freezer has well laid-out drawers, never gets frosted and freezes food quickly.
I've read a lot of horror stories about F&P reliability and service on this site. We've had one problem, an electronic fault about a month after the warranty expired. F&P service were fine, they came out and fixed it quickly at a cost of about $200. No other issues since. I would buy the extended 3 year warranty for this or any other new fridge.
Compact design.
Quiet.
Crisper drawers.
Electronic door alarm.
Freezes quickly.
The fridge broke down about a month after the 2 year warranty expired, cost about $200 to fix.

Good
Bought in 2004 and only just looked online because I need the dimensions for removalists. Stumbled on this. Some comments are unbelievable. There are probably a zillion of these out there burping and f*rting away in kitchens all over the world entertaining owners happy about its refrigeration capabilities. They are the ones who don't write reviews because they never have cause or desire to. Great fridge.
Trouble free for years. Excellent (as in well organised) storage capacity and reliable.
Sure - it burps, f*rts and rattles but not all the time. Just part of its charm. Really doesn't matter.

We love this fridge!
We recently (4 months ago) bought this fridge to replace a 6 year old LG and can't be happier with our choice. It's quiet, cools beautifully and doesn't seem to use much electricity - as in our bill is the same even though this is a bigger fridge. The interior layout is great with sufficient height in the door shelves for tall bottles and the shelves in the body of the fridge are well spaced and easy to clean.
Well designed, easy access to everything, seems energy efficient and it's quiet.

Before you buy, please remenber parts are expensive and you will need lots. It is sold by Coast wholesale in BC and they have little simpathy once you leave the store. Not like one of the big appliance companies or retailers that you can talk to and maybe get a little help with your lemon.
looks nice. Loks can be deceving
3 repairs and parts are very expensive

Common knowledge that Coast wholesale appliances could care less after their sale.
But these do have warantees.
Why? is this a recurring lament.

Very ordinary!
Fridge door dented within a week, ice maker stopped working within 2 years, flimsy crisper unit, I actually threw it away accidentally because i thought it was packaging material. Cost about 40.00 to replace this piece of packaging quality plastic! Husband threw it away accidentally again!! Although a nice looking fridge and practical with the freezer on the bottom, the stainless still shows every single fingerprint
looks good, relatively cheap compared to other stainless steel fridges
quality of materials are cheap. See comment.

Very good quality fridge that has performed it's function flawlessly. I have seen other reviews from people complaining about this model fridge - they must have simply purchased a lemon or failed to set it up correctly.
Very reliable, fits a huge amount of food, freezer very effective and frost free
Nothing - it has been excellent for the last 4 years

Fisher & Paykel E522BRX
This fridge was a great look but only lasted 3 years. I had the usual loud cracking noises coming from the fridge late at night.
The controller board has died almost 3 years to the day. This results in the fridge staying at 16C and the freezer perfect. Would never buy F&P again, beware!!
Looked great and plenty of room in this model
No quality, thin metal skin was prone to even minor dents

Finally electrician isolated this appliance as cause of tripping saftey switch the last 2 weeks. Defrost thermostat was shorting. Only 4 yrs old. Cost $85 just to have F&P agent confirm and probably hundreds more to eventually get fixed ( when the part arrives). Not covered under warranty! Beware those of you with noisy fridges coz this will eventually happen to you. Customer care not resourceful interested or sympathetic. Have
initially looked good but coating peeling around handle now despite being meticulously maintained.

Happy with this fridge, love the upside freezer design. Nice and easy to keep clean. Ice cube tray drawer is handy.
Had this fridge for almost 5 months. Easy to clean. Glass shelves are good at preventing spills onto shelves below. Freezer drawers work well, and seem to fit a lot in. We have just plugged it in and it seems to be working well (apart from beeping noise- see below). Fruit and veg seem to last a lot longer than our other fridge (though it was about 15 years old).
Makes quite a bit of noise at times. Sometimes I thought someone was ...Read more

A great fridge still working well after two years.
In the quest for better energy efficiency we replaced our old fridge with this F&P model 2 years ago.
We were keen to get a fridge with the freezer on the bottom. Cold air moves downwards so a bottom mounted freezer just makes sense. I was also tired of bending down to get to the vegetable drawer all the time. We eat lots of fresh food in our house and use our freezer less often so having the refrigerated section on top is wonderful.

a party and easily slips in and out of the fridge. We also took the egg holder out; I prefer to leave my eggs in the carton and to store them in the main section, but it comes with an egg holder if that's important to you. The glass shelves are well designed with a lip at the front so spills tend to stay on one shelf rather than dripping through the whole fridge. They're easy to clean too. The vegetable bins are a good size. There's a strange thin plastic insert over the bins and sliders that are supposed to adjust the moisture content for fruit rather than vegetables. I never use these. I just keep everything in together the way I always have. Fresh food certainly keeps well in this fridge and for much longer than it did in our old one. Not using the sliding adjustment doesn't seem to matter.2 comments

and water on my fridge and secondly, what kind of plastic can't take a spray cleaner! Having sent out a service person who complimented me on the condition of the fridge and said it was a manufacturing fault, the company offered to replace it for $800 based on a pro rata calculation of the RRP. Given that it's available at most outlets for only a couple of hundred more than this and the damage was not my fault, this was not a great deal, but I was seriously ill at the time and worried about what the cracks were allowing to leak into my food! We reluctantly accepted their offer. It later occurred to me that the cracks had appeared after we'd used the bottle rack for the first time. I wrote to them suggesting this. I received a terse letter with all kinds of incorrect information, including a claim that the cracks would not have affected the efficiency of the fridge (contrary to what their service person told me) and that the cost was reasonable given that the fridge had a life of 10 years. 10 years! My previous Kelvinator served me well for 25 years and the woman I gave it to is still using it after 30! I notice the replacement fridge does not come with a bottle rack. Hmmm. I also notice it comes with a sticker saying not to use spray cleaners. How unstable is this plastic???Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

I love this fridge, I would recommend it to anyone. Just don't use fridge magnets on the surface, because it scratches!
I love the layout of this fridge. The draw trays glide effortlessly, unlike other fridges we've had where you just had to pull our the plastic boxes by hand. The fridge is well arranged, and has a lot of storage space and options. The extra shallow pull-out tray in the freezer is fantastic, great for storing ice cubes and flat things like pastry or pizza bases.
The bottle-rack takes up too much space, we don't use it. The outside 'smudge-resistant' finish on the door shows light scratches very easily.

We upgraded to this fridge as its one on the only upside down fridges where you can fully extend the freezer drawers, the drawers are also on runners which makes pulling out the drawers while full very easy.
The 'door has been left open' noise is also good as my family is forever leaving the doors ajar.
Overall its a good fridge, does what its meant to do - keep stuff cold or frozen.
Looks good.
BIG with nice and easy to clean glass shelves.
Easy to use temperature setting.
Super cold (if needs be).

It's a great fridge and extremely reliable. Post purchase service is excellent and I haven't experienced really loud noises except the odd 'pop' sounds here and there - but that is like every fridge. I'd recommend this fridge to anyone.
Simple design and reliable! The fridge fits in perfectly into my kitchen. The capacity of the firdge is also intelligent with great storage options and handy pull out trays at the bottom of the fridge and throughout the freezer.

Faultless!
We love our fridge. It looks nice, has heaps of room for storage (we never run out of room), it is frost free and easy to clean. Good storage solutions too, like the bottle rack, fruit and veg compartments that you can adjust the temperature to separately. The handle did have a thread in it and it snapped off after 4 years of use, and Fisher and Paykel still replaced it free of charge.
Reliable, energy efficient, easy to clean, looks nice, heaps of storage

Hi,
I bought this fridge about 3 years ago. I have been very pleased with it ever since.
An alarm would sound to remind you that the door hasn't been properly shut but recently, as soon as you open the top door of the fridge it begins to beep continuously until you touch the active smart button inside the fridge or until you shut the door. This is abnormal. How can I correct this?
