Very happy with our dish drawers.
Very happy with the double dish drawers. I don't rinse anything prior to loading, just do a quick scrape if necessary. Doesn't seem to become clogged, I do wash the filter regularly as it's very easy to do. Very easy to use. Care must be taken when loading as if anything slips down the arm won't spin and it won't clean properly - it's a shame that it doesn't sound an alert if the arm isn't spinning properly.

Double Draws Work
We purchased this dishwasher 12 months ago. Being an elderly couple we enjoy the fact you can use just one drawer. It is great on power saving and water as well. Ok because the water impeller is on the bottom you need to be careful stacking. Once mastered it cleans a treat. We use a fast wash but add extra dry time. The only problem we have had is a rust problem on the doors, however Fisher and Paykel have been very quick to rectify the problem. They are due to change the drawer covers next week. I will further comment if required after this.

So Far So Good
My 16 year old Fisher Paykel (FP) Dishdraw died recently and I was tossing up whether to buy a replacement or buy a Bosch or Miele. After reading the terrible reviews on this site I was very apprehensive about buying a FP product as I know production moved to China, from Aust/NZ where my old one was made. FP are now owned by Haier.
FP offer a financially attractive replacement system for FP owners and I saved around $500 off the retail price incl. delivery and installation, and I really do like the draw system.
I ended up buying the FP Dishd...Read more
raw directly from FP. Took about a week from making contact, and delivery and installation was easy and completed by the delivery people so no need for 2 visits. Now the review, I have had it now for 2 weeks, used both draws 3 or 4 times, and so far the product is very good. Extremely quiet, dishes come out sparking clean, and dry, pretty much everything you want with a dishwasher. The only nervousness is that the bottom and top draws seem not be identical in the cycle process. The difference is in the draining and drying, but as both do a good job, I am not that bothered. The difference in the draining is the top one seems to do one long draining cycle, the bottom one seems to a small drain then stop, drain then stop etc. On the drying, the top ones fan stops about 1 min after cycle has finished, manual says it is normal to continue after the cycle has finished, the bottom ones fan continues drying for about 10 mins after the cycle has finished. Seems a bit strange cycles are not identical but as long as the job is done, I am not worrying about it. We generally rinse our heavily soiled plates before putting them in the dishwasher, just a quick rinse under a tap, we never overfill the dishwasher and we don't use it for plastics or pots and pans.

Absolute rubbish
The dishwasher only has one water spinner and that's on the bottom. If you place anything on the top foldout shelves they WON'T be cleaned. A totally bad designed dishwasher.

Fault from Day 1 & no service
We have this brand new $1,500 dishwasher and it’s had a fault from Day 1 and Fisher & Paykel can’t send anybody to take a look at it for 18 days?!?! Two days off work, one cancelled appointment due to ‘technician illness’. Not good enough. What appalling ‘service’. We do not recommend this dish drawer or Fisher & Paykel’s customer service.

3rd DD over 18 years. First died, second was pretty good, the new one is a dud.
I love the convenience of the drawers and, after having a non drawer dishwasher for a few months, I went back to a new DD. The new model is just as convenient.
The bads:
- In a Volkswagen diesel-gate like attempt to get a higher energy rating the brand new model does not dry anywhere as well as the old models. Even on extra dry it is only almost as good as the old model. In normal mode everything plastic is still soaking wet. The whole dishwasher is wet after a cycle but most of the plates and glasses are dry. The cutlery is mostly dry. I have...Read more

Love them!
We had our dishdrawers installed around a month ago. I've never had a dishwasher before so I'm still learning the best way to load it and I have found some items are too large (chopping boards) however what does fit in the drawers comes out shiny and clean. It does a fantastic job and I love that I can have one load washing while I'm waiting to fill the other drawer. It keeps our kitchen looking tidy as we don't have to keep dirty dishes in our sink, plus we can run a deep wash and a light wash at the same time depending on what we've cooked. Would buy these again.

Bring back the old models!!
We bought this in Oct to replace an old dishdrawers that we've had for over 15 years. Unfortunately the old drawers had worn out but still washed well. We have given the new drawers over a month of use before posting this review. We have had to remove most of the racks as they don't fit standard size dinner plates! you need to either use dishwashing powder (as there are prongs in the dispenser) or use tablets in a dispensing tray in the cutlery holder. Either way, my dishes have yet to come out clean first time. I use only finish tablets and ri...Read more
nse my plates before putting in the dishwasher and have even cleaned the filter prior to each use and still my dishes will at times comes out dirtier than when they went in! So disappointed. Wish I had listen to previous reviews and just bought a Bosch! Shame on you Fisher and Paykel for turning such a great product into such a flop! Save your money and heartache, don't buy this product. Nope. Don’t do it.
Not happy with this purchase. Cumbersome to stack. Does not clean well. Need to use the “extra dry” function to get normal drying results. Long cycle times but can’t even think about using the Fast function as it does nothing. Would not recommend and will definitely not buy again. The convenience of having two drawers is far outweighed by all these negatives. Should have stuck with the Fisher and Paykel traditional style we had two homes previously- couldn’t fault that one.

Nothing but trouble with this double draw dish washer
We've had nothing but trouble ever since buying this fisher & paykle double draw dish washer. At fist we thought it super cool having two draws but it uses space for the draws were a single has little more room. We also can't find out how to turn off the second draw

Dreadful racking system
I bought this to replace a dishdrawer which I had had for 15 yrs. This new model doesn't do too bad a job but I believe the racking system leaves a lot to be desired. With the adjustable height cup racks, the slides mean that a little bit of room is taken from the width of the racks where the slides are and it's harder to line/fit cups along the rack. (Not to mention there are more parts to break). The adjustable plate tines slide forward and back to supposedly make room for bigger plates/bowls. But when you put wine glasses in, the adjustable ...Read more
tines easily move if you also put a plate/bowl in and I have then had glasses break with the movement of the tines. It is sometimes hard to line up the glass with the plate tine and the slot for the stem in the cup rack. We have resorted to cable tying the tines so that they can't move. And not as many plates/glasses can fit because the brackets where the plate tine unit slots on to the base takes up room. I don't seem to be able to put nearly as many dishes in this dishdrawer c/with the old one. Having said that, I like the new filter system, it's much easier to clean than the old one. November 3rd 2018 Update: Update on previous review I can't tell you how much this dishwasher continues to disappoint. As I have said before, I had a F&P dishdrawer for 15 years and was so happy with it that when it finally became time, I replaced it with the DD60DCX9. The worst decision of my life. I wonder if F&P actually tested this dishwasher before they unleashed it on the public. The racking system is unworkable, so much space wasted by the design of the cutlery basket and the dish tines. Having to cable tie the dish tines so they won't move and smash my expensive wine glasses. Anything more than a 'fast' wash takes hours. Everything is wet when the cycle is finished, even if you select the option of extra dry. Anything plastic, forget it if you think you won't have to dry it by hand. I might as well wash and dry everything by hand from the start. Having to rewash so many dishes because they don't wash. And I do know how to pack a dishdrawer, as already stated, I have had one for 15 years. Do yourself a favour, listen to what I am saying and run a mile from this dishwasher. Expensive and utterly absolutely hopeless. There is only one word to describe my purchase of this dishwasher...and that is REGRET.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Not perfect
I previously has a twin drawer dishwasher from F&P and loved it, it lasted 13 years so l guess l was lucky it lasted that long l was told by F&P technician. As l loved the old one l didn't question the upgraded offered to me. After having it installed l started to notice the differences. The old one was much better. This model was smaller internally, it had some new features but my dinner plates didn't fit in correctly, they were crooked in the dishwasher, not straight as they should have been, it was as if the racks weren't out of alignment, ...Read more
l took the small side rail off after speaking to F&P and the plates fitted a little better but still hit the side of the dishwasher. New racks are being sent out so l have my fingers crossed but don't think it will make a difference. I can't recommend this model at this stage but will update if there is an improved. It washes dishes quite well, it looks good and is much quiet than old dishwasher but just smaller, just not the best design.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Stay clear
Not a fan of writing bad reviews but honestly - stay away from this dishwasher - stay away from any Fisher & Paykel 2 draw dish washer. Whats my complaint ? Very simple - It doesn't wash dishes. Even after 5 service calls it still doesn't work the way it should.

Our second dish-drawer - well made and very quiet
Our second stainless steel dish drawer after the first one lasted 15 years+ and was still working well when sold.
Not much has changed form the earlier model except this one is noticeably quieter.
Similar results whether using Finish or Fairy, but advisable to presoak pots to get the best result.
Simple to install and looks great in our kitchen.

This is my third Double DishDrawer in 20 years. The first two were for a renovation, then a new build and the current one is a replacement of a different brand in a house we purchased a few years ago. I am so glad the other machine broke down and that we have a new Double DishDrawer. It is so convenient to be able to empty one at a time while doing kitchen chores, so that you can have one dirty and loading while the other is being emptied. Options are to load the small items in the top and the larger in the bottom. Or say, preparation item...Read more
s in the bottom and flatware/tableware in the top. So conceptually it is great. As for features in the specific machine, the fold-able side shelves are conveniently and easily adjusted in height by sliding along a rail. So you could mix upper and lower sections with two layers of mugs or espresso cups with drinking glasses below. There is one external control panel from which you can toggle between the up and lower drawers to program and run individually on different settings. There are now more washing and drying options. There is also a delayed start for up to 12 hours. Also there is an adjustable width on the bowl rack between sections. If anyone complains about this machine, they might not be choosing the best settings. I use fast with extra dry and that takes 65 minutes total with no rejects. Also as with any machine, you need to ensure that nothing is blocking the the blades. This can be avoided by using the anti-nesting grid for the tableware items. The whole family now happily loads their own dishes as well! Too easy.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

LOVE these
Prompted to write this review as we've moved to a new house *without* dish drawers, and I miss them so much!
- We had ours installed separately, either side of the sink - just underneath the bench. Means you don't have to bend too far to load and unload.
- They wash just fine - no issues to report, so I guess no news is good news!
- The best part is that your usual dishwasher is split in two. When you don't have heaps of dishes to do, they often start to get crusty while you wait for enough dishes to justify doing a cycle. The smaller si...Read more

Average at best
Firstly the draws are too small and I cannot seem to fit the bigger saucepans and then I have to use both draws. It was easier with the other dishwasher one load fitted everything in no using twice as much dish-washing tables.
Its an ok dishwasher nothing special. We bought it because we trust the brand.
We still trust the brand, we probably just bought the wrong dish-washer for our needs.

Very happy with it
I was unsure about buying this dishwasher as I had read some negative reviews about it but I really liked the two drawer style and decided to give it a go. I'm very glad we did. Being able to do one drawer at a time or both together is fantastic, I love that option. It cleans very well, is easy to use and is not too loud. We had so much frustration with our previous dishwasher, having to rewash things constantly and it was noisy, we have none of those problems anymore. It's pretty easy to stack everything in nicely but sometimes I do have to do a little bit of juggling things around when I have big pots and pans to fit in but as long as I don't overcrowd it, it washes everything really well. Very happy with this purchase.

F&P, beware of copies flooding onto market when patent runs out!
Best designed dishwasher on the market. We are onto our second(due to moving house, no fault of the unit) and to be honest we did have some issues with the one in our last house, but every time F&P repaired it under warranty, to their credit. Its just the design that's the killer punch, no bending over to load, or sliding trays out. Does a perfect job.

Great Product but lousy back up from Fisher Paykel
Nothing negative about dishwasher however backup from Plumber who installed dishwasher on an angle with gaps either side causing top dishwasher off balance and who is fine about his installation work. Pathetic response from Fisher Paykel who will only send Technician out if they charge us. All we wanted was a Technician to come out and confirm poor installation. One would think a head office would want to make sure their products are being represented to the public by follow up of serious enquiries. Love the product but so sad such poor customer service from FP. Dishwasher still unbalanced.

Questions & Answers
Magstarasked
Just bought this dishwasher and the plumber can’t slide it far enough in to the (standard) space as the hoses appear to protrude too far. The left front of the dishwasher sticks out 4-5mm too far which makes it impossible to secure it within the cavity. The only obvious solution is cutting a hole in the drywall to accommodate the hoses. Can anyone suggest what could be the problem?

Never had a double draw dishwasher before. We are confused with the settings. If we only want to do a small wash we can select one draw. If we want to do a large wash can both draws wash at the same time? If so, how do we set it? The indicator lights show 1 bright and 1 dim. Does this mean both draws are washing?
1 answer
NEVER overload the draw. The dishes will not clean - you need to leave a good space between each item so that the water can get to all items. That is - you only half fill the unit otherwise the dishes won’t clean. They don’t tell you this.
mfeatonasked
the top draw- we clean it weekly and also put rince cleaner through but on taking out the filter we found the round pipe is clogged with food scraps, we clean this manually but is there a way to lift thi slittle filter out and give it a good clean.
3 answers
Hi, you can remove the washer arm and then rotate the large stainless steel plate to unlock it, this gives good access to the main shaft which can be then removed for cleaning and access to the pipe.
Warning: do not use commercial dishwasher cleaner, the product froths up in the Dish Draws pump and causes an error code.
Thanks, we do use Finish scale cleaner, it comes in a plastic bottle and you take the lid off put in upside down in the basket then run the dishwasher to clean the pipes etc. is that still ok given your Warning message?
Phase 9 does not have a large filter plate.
The "cap" that holds the filter plate in can be removed by rotating anti clockwise about 25 degrees and lifting.
If plates are rinsed before putting in drawer
1/ less detergent can be used, a shorter wash cycle can be selected - less electricity.
2/ less damage to rotor from hard food scraps
3/ less smell between washes (caused by leftover food particles fermenting in water in base) water left in the base is the lubricant for the rotor bearing.
4/ less chance of blocking a drain hose - (not covered by warranty)
