Amendment to previous review: still not as good as previous model but better than I thought!
My old single DishDrawer got a fault in the electrics. I got a new one from David Jones in February 2014 and had problems with it but it was replaced by Fisher & Paykel and I was still dissatisfied. However, I only have room in my kitchen for a small dishwasher so had to suck it up. I left an unfavourable review but would now like to amend it slightly.
In the first review, I noted the manufacturer recommended I use Finish dish powder. I bought Finish dishgel instead because it was on special. That bottle of dishwashing gel lasted me until ab...Read more
out October 2014 (7 months!). I then purchased Finish Dishpowder and I've got to say, suddenly the dishwasher is washing the cups properly and they no longer have stains. I can't believe the powder can make this much difference! The dishwasher is still not quite so good as the previous model because the cups/glasses don't stack so well. Apart from that, very pleased that it is now cleaning the cups properly without my having to bleach or scrub them after every wash!1 comment

NIL SERVICE
I am happy with the new DishDraw which was installed 17 days ago. I have made 5 calls to Fisher & Paykel to collect the old unit yet it remains on the living room floor of my very small apartment. Fisher & Paykel staff are very sorry and have all promised to call me back within 24 hours to arrange collection, yet I have had no contact with Fisher & Paykel that I haven't instigated. I am informed delivery and collection is contracted to a transport company, however I contracted with Fisher & Paykel and they remain responsible for collection of used products, which is a service I have paid for.
I would not recommend dealing directly with Fisher & Paykel.

Purchased two of them even...
Original double draw purchased in 2003. 2nd generation. Two years ago renovated kitchen and purchased two single units (4th generation) and have then sitting each side of the kitchen sink bowls. Look great. Latest generation has been improved considerably. Live them. Too marks for F&P persevering with the patent over the years. Recommended.

Does the job well
Have this for my 1BR apartment, good enough size for singles / couples. The drawer is deep, has adjustable racks that are very helpful. Cleaning job is good as well. Can be a bit noisy at times, especially in a 50sqm 1BR apartment with open plan living + kitchen. Other than that it is quite easy to use and comes with a remote control, that supposedly can stop or pause a wash halfway but that has not worked for me. Overall, does a good job.

Single DishDrawer is great
Had the single DishDrawer installed about 2 years ago and it's never missed a beat. We both love the unit and the draw style, recently moved and bought a Bosch unit as we weren't gong to remodel the kitchen in the new place. Wish we payed the cabinet maker the money to come in and install the dish draw as it was quieter and so much better to use not having to bend over all the time to load the washer! I would definitely buy another one when we get the chance!
Easy on the back and so much more quiet than our current unit, simple and great results
Filter a bit tricky to clean but not a real problem

Very happy with my machine
I chose this model as I live alone in a small unit with small kitchen. I decided to pay more for this one and I'm glad I did, as it's a reputable brand and suits me nicely. Very quiet, efficient, convenient and cleans superbly. Size is perfect for me or if I have a guest. It's been trouble free and performs brilliantly. As my first dishwasher, it taught me the advantages. When cooking I prefer to use more dishes during prep, but before, I'd avoid that, or re-use dishes with just a rinse to reduce washing up, so it's helpful and has improved hyg...Read more
iene too. It washes much hotter than I could by hand, so the dishes are more sterile. It saves space by providing a place for used dishes. The choice of wash programmes is ideal and it's the quietest I've seen, too. My mother has a double drawer model and that has also been superb and completely reliable for 4 years. Happily recommended, especially for small kitchens. Performance, water & energy efficiency, quietness, space efficient design. Great features. Some programmes are slow. Child lock engages with drawer open. A little expensive.1 comment
PS - as recommended by Choice mag, I've been using Coles dishwasher powder since the 3rd month I had the machine. It's the cheapest by miles, and for me it's far more effective than even the expensive... Read more
brands (Finish tabs or powder, etc). Just as Choice says, and I find it so. The one thing I've found nothing cleans 100% is tea stains in mugs, but this stuff comes closest, and on the long cycle it's getting it mostly off (I put the mugs on bottom rack, at the side, but it seems a tad better in the middle). Just a quick rub with a sponge or scourer takes off the rest if you're fussy. I get a little streaking on cutlery, but I notice it's less so if I use a little less powder, and always use the rinse aid (a bottle lasts me about a year). Anyway a quick wipe gets that off. I don't know why some people have so much trouble with theirs, mine is still working perfectly after 2 years and so's my mother's after 5. Maybe if you don't get good power supply where you are it causes problems, I've seen that with some appliances, and that sounds right for the ones reporting damaged circuit boards. I do know the power in my flats is actually pretty good. But I'm glad I haven't had to test F & P for service, from the sound of things.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Feeling Riped Off
I have had my Fisher & Paykel for over 5 years, I put in the rotor replacement as told and it is now broken. Have been quoted $1087.90 to replace it. Was told they are now usually $1,780. As you can see by the websites is its usually $780. They want to make $400 plus profit to replace a faulty machine that there spare part killed. Go figure... Not happy!
Was the perfect size for hubby and me
It's broke and the company accepts no responsibility and in fact wants to profit from my demise!

Can't fit another model in my kitchen
I have had my 1 drawer dishwasher for 5 yrs; it broke down quite a few times under warranty, now the motor broke down so it was time to buy a new one. Hopefully it will not break down but just in case I have bought the extended warranty. I don't rinse anything, use the normal wash, use finish powder and rinse aid and everything comes out sparkling clean; it is also very quiet. Tried the eco setting but found that it didn't dry the dishes on that setting.
The size is perfect for 1 or 2 people. When I have guests I run it twice. The ease of loading, heaps better than conventional machines.
The initial problems, hopefully the new one won't have any.

Washes Dishes and no hassles
Installed it myself. The standard size meant it fits into a modular kitchen. The fast wash at 47 minutes is fine for most things, but I also use the "eco" wash at 33 minutes for lightly soiled loads. Must use dishwasher powder for eco mode. Can only use the tablets for fast wash which is at a higher temperature. Accepts plates up to 31cm diameter. Great for a family of only 2 or 3 people (we wash up the saucepans separately). Very quiet.
Effective, quiet, don't have to bend down, easy to use

Love it
This was recently installed into my small kitchen. It took some fiddling to make things all fit. It has been worth every effort and its [slightly high] cost. It fits a good amount of dishes so I run it once a day. The eco wash cycle works for me mostly. It is quiet and easy to load and unload.
Easy to use, suits a small kitchen
Just to add that five years on this is still good. The only comment I have is that it is best not to use the short cycle too often. This can result in not very clean dishes and a clogged filter. I now do most loads on a longer cycle and only use the quick wash for small loads.
This is a very useful appliance in a small household

Questions & Answers
Maria R.asked
Does 00 stay displayed after was is finished?
1 answer
If as you say the listing is monitored by Fisher & Paykel representatives, perhaps they may answer! Although I doubt it, as I didn't ever receive a reply to my letters to this lot... Sorry Maria, while I don't quite understand your question I can understand your frustration, as their instruction books are a disgusting mess. Can I say I have received a lot of help from a mechanic from a supplier here in Melbourne Australia. But this would only help if you are living in this region! One thing I can say, other than sorry! Never make the same mistake twice and tell your friends and family, these people treat their customers very poorly.

When the dish drawer is finished, it beeps . If your not in the kitchen at the time, is there another indication that the cycle has finished?
Lou M.asked
Can this model be used as a benchtop dishdrawer? I'm renting and can't install it permanently.

verything rattles when you pull it out and half the things fall over. The cutlery falls through the basket and gets caught on the bottom of the dishwasher so when you pull the rack out to load more stuff, half the time it gets caught on one side and everything crashes around. Nightmare! WHen I renovate I will be getting dishdrawers!!!
