Comprehensive, Compulsory Third Party (NSW / ACT), Platinum Comprehensive, etc...Not Good At all
Bad customer service. You’ll get no support or guidance with a claim. They prefer I use their preferred partner repairer and not the one I chose. And because I did, the repair was delayed too long.

0 stars at best, I have my motorcycle repaired and the repairer caused rust in the tank
0 stars at best,
I had my motorcycle repaired and the repairer caused rust in the tank and GIO wont cover it. Having them return a phone call is just as painful, Off to the ombudsman we go. This is typical of GIO getting out of a claim.

Treat new customers better than existing ones
Renewal time, and boom $300 more expensive than if I was a new customer. Rang them and asked why, they stated there was some information missing, which needed updating. Demerit points, average kms, although no where on their 4 page renewal form was there any mention that updating information would greatly reduce the premiums. Just lots of words about how privacy is important, and how they use my email to market to other companies. Looking forward to that. Then they had the nerve to ask how I was paying the renewal? Common tactic to prey on thos...Read more
e who just pay renewals without question. Went with their competition, unfortunately the all insurance companies are the same. Blood sucking. These guys like all the insurance companies just want you to buy their products.

Need to call them to take action
I got accident cause by someone using GIO insurance and I have to call them first to get my car pick up from towing company to smash repair. Waiting 1 week for nothing. Then my car get write off, GIO asked me to send Rego paper and bank detail to their email. After couple days tried to call them to follow up, they just take action "ah we are going to send your email to different team" so couple days for nothing again. I don't how they get good review...have to call them first to get the action. Be careful

Worst Insurance Company-GIO, AAMI, SUNCORP ....
Terrible insurance company. Will not pay out on claims until they have delayed as much as possible and reduced amount. Stay away from them especially landlord cover. AAMI and GIO are the same company

Seriously NOT platinum!! More like dirt
Trying to claim on my platinum service (repairer of your choice) is a joke. I have been to 3 mercedes preferred repairs for quotes and gio rep statement "we run the business " says it all. If you don't take it to a repairer of my(gio) choice then we are only going to give you a cash settlement of half or less than half of my quotes.
NOT HAPPY

Cheap then gradually expensive
We found that GIO was a good cheap option initially, but over time their prices have crept up.
Unfortunately, we have had it hard to get information on the claim we made, so we are struggling with getting quotes from other insurers.

Worst experience processing a car accident claim. Do not make the same mistake
My experience with GIO was by far, one of the worst I've had as a customer. They lack any professionalism or organisational skills.
I was in a car accident where someone hit me from behind in traffic. No issues with him admitting fault and happy to pay his excess. When I had my car towed to a third party repairer by GIO, (to fix a bumper - small hit), it took 5 weeks to fix. Every week I had contacted GIO for updates and they would tell me to contact the third party repairer. The third party repairer rarely picked up their phone. When they d...Read more
id for the first time, GIO had not given all the information to the third party repairer regarding the damage on my car. I then had to call GIO back on behalf of the repairer and give them the information myself. After 5 weeks without a car and calling the repairer and GIO twice weekly for updates, I contacted the ombudsman for some form of reimbursement as I needed a car. The case manager from GIO called me and did not offer any sort of compensation like a hire car for example, did not assure me that the repair would be expedited at all. They had awful customer service. Will be cancelling my policy this week.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Gio why?
2 years after accident still not resolved why when I pay my excess I receive court documents, why when you are customer for 20 years you make your first claim and they do not cover you. I am poor, I am stressed and disabled why?

Staff need training
I was given blatantly wrong information and the woman on the phone had a serious attitide problem. Almost like she was sitting on a ten foot pole. I purchased a car with an existing GIO CTP Greenslip (nsw) and they sent me forms asking for info and she then advised me that i cant renew my rego early unless i buy a greenslip from them.(ive already bought one with the NRMA) In nsw car rego can be renewed 3 months early.
Will never be going to GIO for anything. Ive had better customer service from the 中文 call centres at telstra

Quick, simple claim resolution
About 4 years ago we had a person pull out from the left and hit us on our left-front quarter.
Making a claim was a simple process. The assistant helped us to lodge it, the requirements were straightforward and easily obtained, and the claim was approved within a few days. We obtained a single quote that was accepted as reasonable, even though GIO didn't have this repairer on their list of preferred suppliers. In all, a fairly painless process (apart from the originating prang).
Our only issue at the moment is that we are looking at switching to a new car, and their quote is rather pricey compared to others. Is the extra cost worth the low hassle of a claim?

Don’t waste your money
Gio/Suncorp appear to be the worst insurance company on the market, I received nothing but the worst and incompetent service you could imagine. unfortunately I was not aware of their incompetence until I had to make a claim. If you are currently insured with Gio/Suncorp do yourself a favor cancel and get insured with a proper company.

Good Experience
Happy with the service I received on comprehensive car insurance. Saved over $200 then NRMA whom I've been a customer with for over 8 years, NRMA refused to price match so I converted to GIO and couldn't be happier so far. I also have a lower excess and car in insured at a greater agreed value.

Worst insurance
Worst company to be with. Had 2 cars with rsa and my house insurance with gio.
Never made a claim.
Got stuck in jindabyne and had to find my own road side assistance as my insurance or rsa wernt helpful.
Got my car back home and they refused to tow my car 18km to my machanic.(they had towed it there before)
Stating it was out of kind gesture! Ezcept for this time!
Cancelled contract with them the minute they tried to come up with excuses. So hopeless wasted my time and money on an insurer who wont have my back

No respect for their longtime customers!!! Real crooks
I never had an accident in my life but my car was hit by a kangooroo last year. They are asking me now to pay 30% more per year because they cannot claim it to the roo and someone has to pay the repairs they did! Thank God I have taken the comprehensive insurance and I'm paying for more than the market value!! I am wondering what it would be if I was in an accident at fault!!!!! Absolute NO respect for their longtime customers.

Worst experience of my life
I pay $1200 a year for insurance with GIO, I am 48 & have four policy’s with them. My car was hit while parked. I made a claim & it has been a total nightmare. My car has been sitting at my chosen repairers for almost 3 wks. First I was told by the assessor that was assigned to sight my car, that they are not obliged to assess my car unless it was on “mutual ground”: The assessor was totally rude to me the entire time he was on the phone, it was very clear that he wasn’t trying in any shape or form to make my claim experience at all less stres...Read more
sful. I’ve never heard of this policy of requiring a car to be on “mutual ground” & neither had my repairer. I wrote a letter of complaint, which was never responded too: There is no information in my PDS regarding this mutual ground policy, they tried to insist my car be either in my driveway or at my workplace but on my repairers advice I stood my ground. Another week goes by, the assessor finally assess’s my car at my chosen repairers & wont authorise the repairs on the spot when asked too by my repairer. The assessor informs me the next day to return the loan car that my repairer provided, pick up my car and take it to have another quote done at one of their “recommended repairers” I call and voice the inconvenience and time delay that this would cause me, the CS rep tries to call my assessor, twice, she then says she will try to get a team leader to speak to me, however they also appeared to be uncontactable. I am promised that a team leader will be returning my call within 24hours, it doesn’t happen The next morning I wake to the assessor calling me, the assessor is so rude, every time we speak, I won’t talk to him on the phone so instead I got a lovely txt msg from him “Good morning, I have tried to call you about the assessment to your vehicle you will need to take back sheens hire car to pick your vehicle up and once that is done we will be able to direct you to a recommended repairer to quote the damages to you vehicle if there has been cost involved for the vehicle you have been using or for storage on your vehicle we are not obliged to pay for as your vehicle is driveable if you are unable to obtain a quote we are happy to get your vehicle towed” Now does that msg sound like they are trying to make my claim seamless & hassle free? I may add I do have a second quote, but they won’t accept it because it’s not one of their “ preferred repairers”. And the two recommended repairers they have given me have completely terrible reviews. I went back to my repairers today & showed them the msgs the assessor has sent me, they were also completely appalled & tried to call the assessor & speak to him but he was again unavailable. They won’t process my claim until I get a cheap, nasty quote from someone they send me too. Be aware of this policy when you’re considering taking out a policy with them & choose them because you want to choose you’re own repairer. Not that it should matter or make any difference to receiving even a basic level of customer service, I’m currently having chemotherapy 3 times a week & really don’t need to be inconvenienced at all. I lodged my claim 23/01/2018 claim no M044099732 and my car is still not repaired. I have never been treated so appallingly in my entire life. I wish I could give 0 stars. Stay away from all of the Suncorp insurance companies.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
