Such a shame it caused pain
This knife is OK for the average cook, who, let's be honest, doesn't get around to doing large batches of food in order to freeze some. But as soon as I started doing that, the knife started to rub painfully against the bottom of my forefinger, which was due to the lack of a bolster. I have purchased a Zwilling to replace my Global and would gladly recommend that brand to anyone with the same problem who doesn't have very large hands. However, I have a feeling that this knife, not having a bolster, has gotten me into some slightly bad habits wi...Read more
th regards to holding a knife with one. Before this, I would gladly have given the knife 5 stars but actual pain is hard to forget. I would certainly advise very keen cooks to get something else even though most average cooks will be pretty happy with it.Purchased in January 2021 at eBay for $95.00.

Great Knife
Received one of this knives for my Birthday. I like the shape of it and how it handles.
My chopping skills have improved a lot. I am going to slowly buy more and complete my set.
Purchased in July 2021.

Like Butter Baby!
Call me weird but there is nothing more satisfying to me than getting a razor sharp edge on this knife then slicing through tomatoes .... like they're soft butter!
This knife, looks great, it feels great and it slices beautifully!
I'm always looking for the next Global knife to add to my collection. They are a statement piece in any kitchen!

compliments to the chef
We have a set of global knives and as a designer of cutlery myself in the past, i am fairly pleased with the product range. Yes, they will not stay razor sharp forever and will need sharpening at some stage, but we have had our knives for around 15 years...a good recommendation for the product. But i have a better recommendation for choosing these knives. Just recently one of our knives snapped at the hilt without any force really. I got such a surprise. Looking closely at the break, it appeared a crack half way through the blade, had been th...Read more
ere for some time, as rust had formed on the faces of the partial crack. I went on line and discovered this potential flaw, seemed to be the most common fault single complaint, albeit only rarely as was in our case. But the reason for writing this, is that I contacted Global and they asked me to send them the broken knife for an inspection, no questions asked, a receipt not necessary. After about a week or two, a brand new knife of the identical type arrived free of charge in the mail. That is very impressive in this modern world of throw away products when failure visits. Congratulations Global, i would not hesitate to renew any of our knives in future or buy them as a gift for loved ones.Purchased in December 2021.

Doesn't Last
Bought a set of Global Knives from House while on special, however soon discovered these knives don't last. 3 of the knives chipped within the first month and the rest were chipped throughout the year. With the blades chipped, it's really hard to cut any types of meats, as the sinews gets caught in the groove. What's the point of lifetime warranty if chips are not covered? In contrast our cheaper Scanpan blades work perfectly, and are much cheaper too. Save your money for products that actually work as intended.

really really really good and solid. Durable, sharp and does what it is supposed to. It does its job. I especially like the grip, very comfortable and stable for precision.

Fantastic knfie at great value
This is a fantastic knife to use for whatever you want. This came with the Global Takashi set that I bought. It is very sharp, and seems to maintain its edge relatively well. It's not a super light knife but is not very heavy either.

Phenomenal Knife Set
We recently purchased the Global “Katana” 6 piece knife set and block at a terrific price from Peter’s of Kensington. I am astonished at how good these knives are. The chef’s knife, the bread knife, the paring knife - all beautifully crafted, so comfortable in the hand and so wonderfully sharp. Meal preparation is an absolute joy with these knives. I wondered what all the fuss was about, having had a set of Mundial knives for the last 15 years. Now I know - the Global knife is so, so much better. If you’re serious about the time you spend in the kitchen then do yourself a favour and purchase a set of Global knives; you’ll wonder how you ever cooked without them.

love these. save up they are worth it.
I had 1 x chefs knife for years, which ws a great all-rounder, so bought a full set on sale at Peters of Kensington online. These are great knives, but dont put in dishwasher to clean and store on a magnet or knife block to keep them happier longer.

Cant Fault this Knife!
I have owned my Global Chefs Knife for 8 years, it's a beautiful knife to use, excellent weight and easy to clean, it's my 'go to' knife 80% of the time.
About 3 years ago it snapped while my partner was using it, I do not believe this was through any fault of the knife itself. I contact Global Knives and they requested I send it to them for replacement, within a week I had a brand new knife free of charge.
I use a Global knife sharpener to keep it sharp however it would likely benefit from a professional sharpen.

Excellent
I have a single piece Global Chef knive for anywhere between 5-10years now.
I absolutely love it. Whilst there are some small kinks to it because I used it to chop hard bones when I probably shouldn't have, it is still sharp as ever.
It was very expensive when I first bought it as you are now able to buy a set for just over $150-$200 on special and I bought mine just under $100.
Overall, I am very happy with it and will continue to use it if/when I need to buy more.

Very Happy So Far
I think we must be pretty easy on our knives. We had been still using two Wiltshire "staysharp" knives that we bought nearly a quarter of a century ago. They are so worn out that you can see the little jagged flaws along the edges very easily .... a bit like a knight's sword after some long and energetic crusades!!
The time comes though when you just have to get modern ... so we decided we'd suss out a decent replacement. The reviews looked good, so we forked out and bought one of the apparently popular G2's.
Our initial impressions were ...Read more
that the knife has a delightful edge which seems fairly easy to maintain; it is so light and easy to guide, even in my wife's very delicate hands. The lightness doesn't seem to detract to any noticeable extent though, even when dealing with the heavier vegies. There's always that risk that a knife that's way lighter than what one may label the traditional Aussie kitchen knife may suffer from balance issues ... but this one is noticeable by its superb balance. While we are by no means "master chefs", I can say that this new addition to our kitchen has made life way easier for us, and has seen our two Wiltshire stalwarts relegated to the car's picnic box. It's almost fun to cook now ... rather than the chore it had been before. It's still fairly early days .... but we're happy so far ....Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Global G-2 Chef Knife
After receiving conflicting opinions from (Chef) friends regarding these knives, I decided the best way was to buy one and try it out. I chose the G-2 as it is the most well known. I instantly loved it - fabulously sharp and balanced just right (for me). Also I had heard that the knife is too shallow, and would have me banging my fingers on the chopping board, but this has not been an issue at all.
The knife is easy to sharpen, seems to respond best to a wetstone. I've reprofiled the edge from the factory 15 degrees to approx 11, and used 10...Read more
00 and 6000 grit Naniwha wetstones for this (BTW these are great). The effect to this is easier and cleaner cuts (the edge loses that slightly ragged line that all Globals seem to come with), but edge retention suffers a little (from the more extreme angle). If you enjoy sharpening knives then this is not a problem! After using this knife for a while, some points to note: Pluses: - really sharp - easy to sharpen - well balanced - thin blade cuts ripe veges/fruit really well1 comment

Beautiful Practical Knife
I love this knife and I have it a long time. It stays sharp and what I really like is that the knife and handle are one solid piece. It has a nice balance when you're holding it and although my knife skills are less than amazing I think it helps me cut and chop better. The only reason I gave it four instead of five stars is that it got some rust spots on it, near where the handle meets the blade section, which I thought a bit unusual for stainless steel.

Best Knives I've Had for 10 years
Bought a block set of Global knives and have been using them in my kitchen for the last 10 years. I have had no issues with them. I use the Chef and Vegetable knives everyday and they hold their edge well. I usually only sharpen them once every 2 months with the MinoSharp device made by Global for Global knives. Global knives are well priced and they are made for professionals and semi-pros and also budding amateur cooks. The important thing is when buying a knife set, don't go looking at prices. A higher price does not equate to a better knife...Read more
or a knife that suits your cooking style / abilities. Choose something you are comfortable with. I love the Globals because they are very well balanced, all stainless steel construction and they can certainly take a beating and still come out at the top. I have used Shun knives as well but I am not sold on the wooden handle and the value for money isn't there. It's almost twice as expensive as the Global range. An analogy is if you like fine wine, it's almost impossible to tell the difference between a 150 dollar bottle of wine and a 250 dollar bottle of wine. It's all very subjective...Similar opinion? Poor Quality, over priced, poor company!
I purchased a set of the knives, retailing at $799.00, and on first use a chip was taken out of my blade! Considering it was only a chicken breast, an onion and some capsicum that I cut (on a wooden board) I presumed it was mechanical defect (as I meticulously take care of my possessions).
The company and their poor management, refused it to be a defect and would not honour their warranty upon my return.
Such an expensive set with a questionable reputation, I would honestly not recommend, rather would discourage, anybody from purchasing these...Read more

light, sharp, a joy to use
Love this knife. It feels light in the hand, very sharp, easy to sharpen, nicely balanced in the hand. Very easy to clean - it's my favourite knife to use in the kitchen. Excellent value - well worth the expense. You'll never want to use another brand after trying a Global knife.
lightweight and very sharp
lack of weight can be a detraction when chopping things like carrots

With respect to the blunt point - I've found this really annoying, but it is very easy to fix (careful grinding with the knife upside down on a 1000 grid stone gets a nice sharp point)!
