Food expired in 2-3 days, received a food box despite cancelling, forcing to pay for meals chose by their chef
I have ongoing communication with HelloFresh team. Due to pandemic I looked to reactivate my subscription as I'm shielding because of severe illness. Reactivation took place on 15th of April, but I was unable to choose my meals and subscription box because their website crashed and got frozen. There was no confirmation of my order whatsoever. my payment details didn't get updated so right now I'm disputing the payment with Hellofresh. The reason is the poor quality of food and their refusal to admit that I didn't requested this foodbox. However, the chicken meat was not edible, sour cream expired on 27/4/2020 and the minced beef expired on 28/4/2020. They asked me to send photos, but are ignoring the main facts, the food was not fresh at all and of very poor quality this time. They offered to refund me 14 off 34.99 / box which is unsatisfactory. The foodbox was supposed to be edible from 25/4/2020 to 2/5/2020 including 3 fresh meals. How I'm supposed to cook fresh when 3 ingredients were expired in 2-3 days after delivery?I immediately thrown away the chicken meat which was grey coloured and completely unappealing, but fortunately I kept minced beef and sour cream.They try to ignore the fact that the food is not fresh and is not the menu which I would have chosen as their chef choose the menu from me.I cannot upload the photo here but I would look on Google reviews.

Great, Easy and Varied
We have had Hello Fresh delivered for 6 weeks so far. We cannot fault the delivery, ingredients, recipes and freshness. Even my husband, who doesn't eat much variety, has been enjoying the meals. They are really easy to cook and teach you skills you may not have had previously. Would definitely recommend.

Convenient, easy to cook, tasty food
I've been enjoying HelloFresh for 6 weeks and I haven't had any issues or mix ups. I have the veggie meal plan and I get three meals per week.
The right food has always arrived in great condition, fresh and still cold (when needed). The food is portioned correctly, there is very little waste, and it is very conveniently bagged up separately. The cooking instructions are clear, useful and always produce great results - lots of pictures too!

they are always delicious. There are lots of different types of cuisines to try as well, and so far, every meal I've cooked I've really enjoyed. Some of the menus, I've even collected to cook on my own in the future. I also love the effort to make the packaging more environmentally friendly, the majority of it is recyclable. There are only a few suggestions I would make. It would be great to have a few more options each week to choose from. Currently I'm choosing 3 options from 5 total, which can get restrictive if there's a meal or two with an ingredient I don't like. Also, some weeks there are also very few low calorie options and some meals are 750+ kcal per serve, which is way too much for me. It would also be great to see a few veggie meals without dairy too :) Otherwise, I really recommend HelloFresh. I should have shares in the company!
We joined up with HelloFresh because we had flown in from overseas and had to enter mandatory isolation. It was a life saver over that fortnight.
Now that we’re out of isolation, we have continued on with the deliveries because:
1) The food is always delivered on time
2) We live on a farm and couldn’t believe they would deliver to our front door!

Deliver what they promise.
We have been using Hellofresh for 6 weeks now. The recipes are easy to follow and result in meals full of flavour. All produce has been fresh and the few times ingredients were changed (due to the corona virus), we received an email to inform us about this. I was mainly worried about portion size, but have found them to be more than adequate, sometimes even leaving us with leftovers! Good food, poor customer service
The food was great and we were going to stay with it longer, but they continued to charge us incorrectly, and then offered to refund a delivery fee that shouldn't have been charged. I accepted the offer of the refunded fee, but it never occured, not even credited to my account. I had all my meals selected for the next delivery, but due to this breakdown I decided it was best to just cancel. I have had no follow up on my cancellation 3 weeks on, still no refund for the overcharged fee that was promised, so I think I made the right decision. We really did enjoy the food, but the customer service and trust are just so much more important, and they just aren't getting that right!

I don’t know how they got delivered my box in wrong address. This is kinda disappointing for first customer like me. I emailed them telling that my first box that supposed to be delivered yesterday April 27 and they just ask me if the address is correct information which is. They didn’t do something about it. They haven’t even replied to my question on what should I do. Such a disappointment I waited for this box and got nothing. They should be having an update in their app like if the delivery is nearby so the customer will know. Hello Fresh you must be doing something about all this complaints.

I'm sorry to hear you had such a frustrating experience trying to get in touch with our Customer Care team - this is definitely not the HelloFresh way. As with any company, there is room for human error (by no means an acceptable excuse, but an unfortunate reality). We want to assure you that whilst this happens incredibly rarely, we do have a process in place when this does occur. Most importantly, we'd never let our customers go out of pocket for the error on our end, so we'll always take on the cost of the box by way of a credit or refund. As much as we'd love to be able to send you a replacement box, each box is custom-made and we do not order spare ingredients in order to be responsible from a waste perspective. As well as this, we write a detailed report to our Delivery Partners, highlighting both the correct address and the delivery receipt they have provided with us so the error can be pin-pointed. From there, your account will be flagged so moving forwards, drivers will be notified that an error has been made in the past so they can be sure to take extra care with your delivery. In terms of having updates within the app, the evening before your delivery, you'll be sent an SMS with a tracking link so you can check on the progress of your box throughout the delivery window. Not only will this give you a rough estimated delivery time, but it will also show on a map when the delivery is getting close, and then update to a delivery receipt once the delivery has been made. Hello Fresh is a game changer!
I honestly set out to try them once and then cancel my subscription, but Hello Fresh has changed up how we do dinners forever for the better. The meals are always fresh and healthy with so much variety and taste; we've not had a meal that the whole family hasn't loved yet!
The cooking is easy but the meals are sooo tasty! Plus I'm finding less food waste because we eat everything. We LOVE Hello Fresh (bit of a fan girl over here!)

Be careful with their auto subscription
Hellofresh automatically subscribed me, without myself being properly informed, to their ongoing WEEKLY meal order when I just only ordered it for once to try out, and this happened exactly when the first order didn't even get delivered on the day scheduled.
They automatically put me for a second and ongoing order without me being notified, and charged directly to my bank acct I paid with for that first order.
Hard sell not always bring more business, it break down the trust from your customer right at the beginning, no matter how good their food is, would rather to go with another food company.

We're so sorry if there was any confusion around the nature of our service! The last thing we want is for our customers to think they're being robbed or locked into something without their knowledge. Transparency and clarity around our business model is so important in making our customers feel cared for. That's why we specify multiple times during the checkout, and in your confirmation email, that we are a weekly subscription service. Having said that, we know subscriptions do sometimes get a bad rep, which is why we have a flexible subscription, which means there's no commitment. Although the orders run weekly as a default, you can easily skip your deliveries if you're going away or cancel if you just don't fancy it. Everything works around our weekly deadline of 11:59 PM (Sydney Time) on the Tuesday prior to your next delivery for all cancellations and changes. We know it might seem like a long way from when the food gets delivered, but we need to give our suppliers and couriers plenty of notice to plan for the upcoming week. We order quite a lot these days so they need a bit of time to fill the trolley, so we can pack up every box and have it delivered fresh for every customer to start cooking! It's really concerning to hear that your first delivery did not arrive on the promised day - we would love the chance to find out what went wrong with this delivery too. I have passed your comments on to our team about our checkout process so it hasn't gone unheard - again, we're really sorry that this was missed. We know that our deadline does seem a long way in advance - this is by no means to be difficult but purely out of necessity as it does take some time to source all of the produce for every delivery across Australia, before then packing and delivering each and every box safely and on time. The deadline allows our customers to have greater flexibility in terms of meal selection - it would not be possible for us to offer as many as 25 different meal kit options each week if we had less time to source the ingredients. By ordering only the exact amount of produce needed to make each box, we minimise on food wastage. Received package didn't order and expected to pay for.
We've used Hello Fresh for a while and to be honest been happy with the variety and quality. I don't like the excess packaging but generally food quality is good.

An utterly terrible waste of time.
We have tried Hello Fresh for three weeks in a row, on the suggestion of friends. In week one the box contained vegetables that were slimy and unusable. I took photos and sent them to Hello Fresh but have deleted them from my phone since then. They reimbursed us for the floppy produce but it still meant that the meals were difficult to make without all of the ingredients. In week two the box wasn't delivered. We tried again in week three but it hasn't arrived. I reached out to customer service and they said it can be delivered on Saturday (that's five days away). We work in health care and thought the food delivery might be helpful at this busy time but it is really quite an unreliable nightmare. Chicken had gone bad & being charged for unwanted box
I have used Hello Fresh in the past & had discontinued the service as the last delivery we received a pack of chicken that had gone bad - even with the discount the team applied to our next order we decided not to proceed with another box at the time.

They then said that it was too late for me to cancel & they were sending anyway, even though I hadn't paid anything, but that I would still have to settle my account. I called their centre & the person that helped was very nice but said there was nothing that they could do to stop the box from coming & that they would keep attempting to charge my account / would send me an invoice for the outstanding payment. I understand that this is probably a benefit to some that they will deliver when payment isn't made on a "good faith" basis but after the chicken incident & the difficulty with this last payment the experience has left a bad taste in my mouth. If I had known I wouldn't be able to cancel I would have chosen my recipes, but I am now being sent a box tomorrow with 3 meals I wasn't even interested in. Close to a Scam
Our neighbour really rates HelloFresh and has provided us with a starter voucher on 2 occasions. Both times, the voucher has said it has expired when we've tried to apply it. We told the neighbour after the first occasion, so next time she received a delivery, she gave us a new voucher. When we tried this 2 days after she had received it - same message - expired.

This is clearly a public attempt at a bit of good PR. As mentioned in the original post, it brings into question the ethicacy of your business practices. I have been a HelloFresh supporter and user for several years but not anymore. My bank card linked to my account had been lost and my emails are sent to an alternative email address I use less often. From a sceptic to convert through COVID-19
I tried Hello Fresh after being gifted a box from a friend just before the lock down started and as stated, i was always sceptical of these kind of delivery services. I was concerned that for the price the meals would not be sufficient and produce would not be fresh - boy was i surprised! We have been enjoying 3 Hello Fresh Meals a week over the past month and I could not be happier. e portion sizes are HUGE and most days we have a left over lunch the following day for one. The cost per meal is works out around $12-13 dollars so not crazy. I find i spend far more than this cooking a decent meal having to buy all the seperate ingredients which can often get wasted. The only down side i would say is that there is a lot of plastic packaging which hopefully can be reviewed as it is a little wasteful.1 comment

Easy to prepare and great tastes
Meals are simple to prepare but tastes and flavours are nothing but simple.
Simple to choose the meal as each are separated into bags. Would definitely recommend to family and friends

Before selecting each meal, you can view the ingredients list by clicking on the recipe. The full breakdown for any sauces, spice blends or pastes can always be find ahead of time by checking hellofresh.com.au/foodinfo. All of our ingredients are generally packaged separately, and could easily be substituted for alternative ingredient(s) you have at home if they're not suitable.
However, if the allergen is extremely severe, we wouldn't recommend using HelloFresh as we cannot guarantee our suppliers are producing in allergen free facilities. We do our very best to accommodate our customers’ needs with the highest quality ingredients possible, however, we are still navigating the ins and outs of allergy/dietary specific boxes.

My goodness, I cannot apologise enough for this first impression - it's not at all the type of welcome we'd want any of our customers to have and I am so sorry this happened. Our produce arrives to us incredibly fresh each week and all ingredients go through thorough quality checks before being packed in our warehouse, so it's really concerning to hear that this wasn't the case! We understand that cancelled customers sometimes want to log back in and check out our menus, so this won't prompt an order. For this to happen, you need to click the ""Reactivate & Select Meals"" button if you're on our website, or the ""Reactivate Now"" button if you're on the app and then follow the steps to continue your subscription again. Communication with a business and their customers is key so we always try to keep that channel open. Whenever an account is cancelled or reactivated, it automatically generates an email confirmation so you're always aware of the status of your subscription - it is concerning to hear you did not receive this.
