This instachill works quite well on days where the temperature is around 20-25 Celsius, it has a cooling effect and can last up to 15 hours without refilling water. However on days when the Instachill needs to be used during heatwaves or humid weather, it will provide no relief at all, you will still need an Air Conditioner in your home to do most of the work. Take this sort of as a 2nd device that assists the AC in helping your home keep cool. Lastly, this is better than most fans, so i will give it a 3 stars. In terms of value for price, you're better off buying a portable air conditioner. Also the loud sound is quite satisfying, i like to sleep with it on all night

I purchased it at a sale price after a trial period of 10 days. It has a good fan and it a bit noisy, but it did cool the room down quite fast. It has a lot of different settings easy to use. Even on the low fan cool setting it was effective in 28 degrees. It is heavy to move around carpet areas, has very small wheels. The delivery if you want to return it is hugely expensive. Overall it is an OK product at the right price on sale.

Hi Faye,
Thank you for your valuable feedback. In order to move is easily on carpet, its better if there is less or no water in it. Due to the water in the tank, sometimes it may require a push to move around carpet....

When I phoned TV shop for the large 15ex they told me it was $600 including shipping they offered me a second one completely free only paying $69 Xtra for shipping so I received two for $669 one works really well the other one was a dud didn't work well at all. When I phoned to ask them if they would replace it they said they would inspect it and perhaps replace it if they found it faulty, but I would have to pay $130 in courier pickup.(no way) So I put it on Facebook market and sold it for $340. So point of fact I'm left with one perfectly wor...
Read moreking unit which in effect has only cost me only $329. One has to bear in mind that these instachill do not have compressors or condensers so they are not going to work in the same way as a regular air conditioner which can run at between 2 to 4 kilowatts or more and can cost between $600 to $1,600+. instachill 15EX runs at 120 watts which is no more than a regular light bulb, so it costs peanuts to run. Remember that cold air sinks warm air rises so by adjusting the vents in an upward position does help. Very little can go wrong with them because their very simply made and basic but do the job really well for what they are, but don't expect them to work the same as a proper air conditioner with compressors. These instachills are evapourative aircoolers only so they must be in a well ventilated room with a window open so that the hot air can escape. Perhaps I was just one of the lucky ones but the air that is emitted from my particular unit is colder than my ducted air conditioning which I only put on when I get home from work to cool the house down initially and then swap over to the instachill. So I'm happy with the unit so far. But I do sympathize for those who bought it and are unhappy with theirs. P.S. I've bought from TV Shop before buying an AirHawk and an I-Walk several years ago and both work extremely well. Remember...you get what you pay for....or not,but that's the chance you take.

I live in a rental with no aircon. We had a 44 degree day so we put straight ice in the instachill. I wont lie it struggled in the large room but if you sat within a 5 metre radius you could feel the difference. For that time it did the job to make the temp tolerable in that area but its not a substitue for a split system or air conditioner. Its just a cooler overpriced fan. On the plus side its an air purifier too.

Since InstaChill blasted its way onto TV ads, it’s garnered a lot of interest. The ad appealingly promises: ‘in less than one second, hot and sticky air is transformed into cool and refreshing.’ Add to InstaChill's mix a cool name that’s reminiscent of a certain social media platform, and it’s not hard to see why the popularity peaks.
But does InstaChill deliver on its promises?
InstaChill has received an average of 1.5 stars for its four sizes of fan. One reviewer expressed the thoughts of many reviewers when they commented ‘it’s a glorified fan.’ Another review was similarly entitled: ‘Whatever you do, do not buy.’
What reviewers had to say about InstaChill:
- It doesn’t chill the air as it’s purposed to do, and a room will often remain at warm temperature, even when the InstaChill has been running for hours
- Poor build quality and flimsily constructed
- Expensive - the smallest size costs $449. Many reviewers lamented the fact that a cheap fan would have done a better job
- Heavy once the water tank is full, making it difficult to move
- Very noisy, on top of everything else.
