Roomba 650

When charging at the home base, my Roomba 650 recently started to say charging error 5 after 1-2 hours. When I manually restart the charging process, the error message comes back, but now after only 30 minutes or so. The battery is partly charged afterwards, the Roomba does its cleaning routine when I start it manually until it runs out of power. I have cleaned all contacts, including the ones inside, multiple times and also reset the Roomba. What else do you suggest for fixing this problem?

Thank you for getting in contact with us. Depending on the age of your Roomba, charging error 5 usually advises the battery requires placing. But if you would like to contact us directly on 1300 727 421 we can go through some troubleshooting with you.

The 650 Roomba is not cleaning the whole house. My house is only 2400 sq ft. What are we doing wrong? It just keeps cleaning one side of house over and over

1 answer

Teghan R.iRobot

Good Morning Teresa
The Roomba 650 has an approx run time of 60 minutes. This model Roomba will only clean as much of the house as it can in that time. The iAdapt Navigation System on this model uses your walls and furniture to help the Roomba navigate the home. This being said, you will find this Roomba will clean sections multiple times more than others.

If you are finding the Roomba is only cleaning one side of the home during a battery cycle, I might be an idea to move the home base location helping the Roomba clean from another angle.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact our office directly on 1300 727 421.

Good Morning Lori D
Thank you for taking the time to contact us. It is possible that the charging contacts on the Roomba and Dock may need a clean. We recommend cleaning these with a dry scotch brite sponge (green side) or a pencil eraser. This will help remove the dirt and grim build up that may be stopping the Roomba from connecting.

If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact us on 1300 727 421.

My romba 650 only makes clicking sounds when the “sweeping arms” get against an object. It then turns away and at the next object it clicks repetitively for about 4 seconds. Just started doing this at about 17 months of use.

FYI, I just replaced the black/white spinning ball. The old very worn-down ball was causing an error but the new ball fixed that. Any ideas?

Good Morning Diekster
Thank you for your questions. It is possible the side spinning brush may need replacing. We do recommended this every so often the they can get worn from continuously getting hair and debris caught around it.

Roomba 650

Hi, I just bought a second hand 650 recently and it didn't come with the AC adaptor. it has come with a power cable (the cable without the blackbox). I connected the home base with a power point using the power cable only and it seems charging ok however it's not flashing while charging. It flashes 20time or so and stop flashing. also, it doesn't go back to the home base when the battery is low. Would this be due to the missing AC adaptor?

Good Morning Andrew
My apologies for the delay in replying to your question. iRobot changed their changing stations approx 2 years ago remove the transformer. Now you should only have the Home Base and a cable. The light will flash for approx 4 seconds and than go out.
It is possible the Roomba is no longer returning the base because the contacts require cleaning. We recommend a pencil eraser or scotch brite sponge to get a thorough clean.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us directly at [email protected] or on 1300 727 421.

Good Afternoon Colleen
Thank you for questions, as you have purchased your Roomba from Amazon I would recommend you contacting them directly if you are missing virtual walls. Sadly at this time that are not a registered reseller in Australia/New Zealand.
This particular model Roomba only uses iAdapt Navigation which roughly means it will move in one direction until it reaches an obstacle that changes it. It is common for it to clean areas multiple times and miss others as it doesn't it may not have enough battery to clean an entire home in one cycle.
If you would like to discuss this further, please contact us directly at [email protected] with ref: C0148249.

I would take it off the charger and switch it off at powerpints no point having it plugged in if going away! When you get back put it back in charge for 24 hours :)

HI Jacque
We recommend taking the unit off the Home Base and removing the battery from the unit also. This will safe the battery life also.

Once you return home give it a really good 72 hour charge.

What about corners? The dust in my place gets into the kitechen corners. Does this capture that well?

Also is it able to from time to rug?

If the small rotating brush can access a corner then the machine will clean that area. If an area is missed and noticeable then manual cleaning may be needed. I have never had to do so!

iRobot
Teghan R.iRobot

Good Afternoon Jame81
Thank you for your question. "malemer" is correct, if the side cleaning brush can reach far enough into the corner it will defiantly remove the debris. However these are designed for maintenance cleaning and should not replace your Vacuum completely. I use my Roomba every second day, and bring my main vacuum out once a month to do a full house clean of the areas my Roomba cannot go.

If you have any future questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected] with your ref: C0145140.

Maybe you could try moving the dock, perhaps it's having trouble logistically rather than a mechanical problem?

C. Blair
C. Blair

Is it within the same room that it has trouble or somewhere else within the house? If it is within the same room then maybe there is something blocking the path. If it is elsewhere in the house then it is probably because there is too much distance between the dock and the vacuum.

Roomba 650

Just started noticing that my Roomba is not docking or un-docking like normal. When the Roomba turns on as schedule it beeps like normal but it doesn't back up it sort of spins and bumps its way off. Then when it finishes vacuuming, it goes to the docking station, stops about 1/2 a foot away and just sits there running with the brushes still spinning until the battery dies. If you give it a little push before it dies, it will dock and charge like normal, but we have come home lately and it will be dead just in front of the docking station. I have cleaned the contact points, checked the home base, not sure what to do at this point. Any help?
